Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Benoit/Rey(if they REALLY put effort behind making it work) for the world title and Cena/Trips for the WWE would be a suitable double main event. Add in a bunch of Raw/SD matches (JBL/Shawn, Taker/someone, Edge/Hardy) and some decent supporting matches for both brands (Angle/Shelton, Tista/Orton) and you got yourself a nice looking Mania.
Guest New Jake Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 While I don't agree Orton is the ideal person to win at the Rumble, really, who else is there that Vince would REALISTICALLY want to push? Um let see; Mysterio, Angle, Benoit again? It's better to push someone who the fans are actually interested in as apposed to a blatant reject. I think Orton would be a better candidate for this spot than say, Chris Masters or Carlito. No shit sherlock. But we'r not talking about fucking garbage here. The Slam and SmackDown matches between Orton and Taker were good, too. So you're wrong. Laughable. The Summerslam match was forgettable. The ending sucked and it just followed much of the same thing from WM. The Smackdown match wasn't much better and was only good for the fact that Orton didn't win. Same as the WM match.

Angle-plex Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 so he's not Benoit but for that matter who is? Um lets see.... Shelton Benjamin Christian(talent-wise, not gimmick) Matt Hardy They're not Benoit's, but they can wrestle unlike Orton. Bullshit. Austin couldn't help his bad neck and Rock was always a great worker. It is utterly useless to make such comparisons. Wow. Benjamin, Christian and Hardy can wrestle? Sinc when? Orton's had more good matches than all three of them combined unless you count spotfests. And Rock was a great worker? I guess someone likes ridiculous over-the-top overselling than nearly ruined some great matches. An exciting worker yes but a great worker? Far from it.
Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Eh, Rock was very, very good. And I don't think Orton's had any more good matches than Hardy alone, to be fair.
Guest New Jake Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Wow. Benjamin, Christian and Hardy can wrestle? Sinc when? Orton's had more good matches than all three of them combined unless you count spotfests. Wow. Your a fucking moron if you actually believe that. No argument. And Rock was a great worker? I guess someone likes ridiculous over-the-top overselling than nearly ruined some great matches. An exciting worker yes but a great worker? Far from it. Another moronic comment. This is the man that carried HHH into his best wrestling matches. ok, you win ok, you win twice Hey, don't sell your self short. I just don't like Orton. You can, but I won't.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 So I guess we're playing the fantasy booking game. Give the Royal Rumble spot to AJ Styles or Samoa Joe because they can work. If you don't like what Vince has to offer, watch something else on Mondays and Thursdays/Fridays. He won't change for a whiny idiot like you.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Don't bother replying to me, NJ. You're ignored.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Angle-Plex is on the rock if he thinks that Orton is more talented then Benjamin. Randy just learned how the work the WWE style quicker........plus, ya know, he's white.
Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 You should check out that DVDR thread for some nutso Benjamin comments.
Guest New Jake Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Don't bother replying to me, NJ. You're ignored. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As if I care you fucking pussy. I'm not here to make friends.
Fökai Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 You can't put either in front of the other, unless you're judging by match quality, which would then be in favor of Orton. Everything else is either a dead-heat or a product of one wrestler getting pushed (Benjamin) while the other was being pushed hard (Orton). Though, one guy has got over his sloppiness (Orton), while the other looks like he's regressing in that regard.
Guest New Jake Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 THEN WHAT ARE YOU HERE FOR Discussion. Normal and intelligent discussion.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Of the people Vince likes, Orton is probably the least offensive one. There's an outside shot he will push Rey but we know how he feels about guys who are shorter than his mailman. In the Eddie Tribute match, while I'm not saying both guys were good, Orton did look crisp in the ring vs Cena, and if he ditched his dad and did a take off on the Legend Killer (if he kills Taker for once and all), he should be fine. Besides the HIAC that he is slated to do with Taker should regain him some heat.
Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Ok. You've came to the right place for nomral discussion, then.
Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 New Jack fixed his typo, ruining my FANTASTIC joke in which I made fun of said typo.
Angle-plex Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Nice to see New Jake backs up his arguements.... Yes, I think Orton is better than Shelton. Orton/Foley and Orton/Benoit are better than any Shelton match. Christian isn't a ring general, and Matt Hardy? Has he EVER had a ***+ singles match? Do we have to remember the awful Hardy/Hardy matches?
Angle-plex Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 And Rock was a great worker? I guess someone likes ridiculous over-the-top overselling than nearly ruined some great matches. An exciting worker yes but a great worker? Far from it. Another moronic comment. This is the man that carried HHH into his best wrestling matches. Uh...Foley? Benoit? HBK? Rock also almost ruined the WMX7 main event with his horrendous overselling. Luckily Austin's unbelievable performance made up for it.
Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 You can't put either in front of the other, unless you're judging by match quality, which would then be in favor of Orton. Though, one guy has got over his sloppiness (Orton), while the other looks like he's regressing in that regard. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Benjamin's tag stuff in the WGTT is better than most of Orton's stuff. The first tag switch against Los Guerreros, the number one contender's match with Edge and Benoit, and the series with Tajiri and Eddie are all as good/better than any of Orton's stuff, I think, with the exception of maybe the second Benoit match, which I think is Orton's best. Orton's had better singles matches, though, and he has a good catalogue with good matches against Foley, Benoit (twice), Edge (the Raw IC title rematch) and the series with Taker. Shelton hasn't really had that to work with, though. He had a better match with Trips than Orton had, a better match with Jericho, a better match with Shawn. The Christian matches were similar in quality. Only guy I've seen Orton have a better match with is Edge. I reckon Shelton would have better matches with Benoit, too, if given the chance. So Shelton > Orton.
Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Angle-Plex, Rey/Hardy in San Diego(?), Benoit/Hardy in the US title tournament and Benoit/Hardy in June 00 are all really good matches, or really good for the time they're given, in the latter's case especially. Oh and Hardy/Booker from Heat04.
CBright7831 Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 How long do you think it will be before New Jake is banned?
Dark Age Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I'm not sure who Trips' best opponent is. Shawn for the 03 title match and, I think, their 96 Raw match is a possibility, but the rest of their work together sucked, and the 03 match, while good, is overrated. Benoit's best match with Trips', for me, is the No Mercy match and that was only a bit better than good. I didn't like their 04 matches, but I liked the two they had earlier this year. I enjoyed RR00 and NWO00 but I don't know if they're Trips' best matches.
Lil' Bitch Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 WWE is just repeating what they originally wanted to do this year. I fucking KNEW Orton was going to win the Rumble next year, it was only a matter of time before it eventually happened anyway. I don't mind him winning at all, I just hope the rest of the card suffices. The question is if WWE turns Cena heel (which they will, I don't see any possible way for them to salvage him unless he gets his heelish antics back or he's actually funny again), can Orton be a face again? You know if he's properly booked this time because I sure as hell don't see two heels going over at Mania.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I also think Orton should ditch his dad in a spectacular fashion. Have Orton lose a meaningful but inconsequential match via inadvertent botched interference by his dad. His dad enters the ring and helps Orton up. They embrace and then Orton gets a mic. "Thanks Dad, for all you've done for me. I really appreciate it. I was glad they inducted you in the Hall of Fame... hey wouldn't that make you a legend?" then BOOM, RKO, putting down the Cowboy. Orton then says, "Your services are no longer required." Preferrably this is done before the HIAC, so Orton can win the match vs Taker without his dad around.
naiwf Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Is Vince trying to kill Chicago off by giving them Orton and HHH coming out with the gold at WM? Not only are they giving a heel the Rumble victory, but they're going to follow it up with two heels coming out of the biggest show of the year with the gold. That's not bad booking, that's "Fingerpoke of Doom" level stupidity.
JHawk Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I've been saying it for weeks now and I'll say it again. The WrestleMania main event, provided Batista doesn't drop it due to his injury, absolutely has to be Batista defending against The Undertaker. Can the champion, who has held the championship for a full year, be the one to finally end The Undertaker's winning streak? The story writes itself, and for once you have a WrestleMania main event that has some element of doubt as to who the winner's actually going to be. Sure, it means Taker wins the Rumble when someone else could use the rub of winning the Rumble, but I don't see how Taker vs. Batista isn't the correct thing for business.
The Czech Republic Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 The Orton hate on this board is almost overwhelming... Should have been here last summer "OH HEAVENS TO BETSY, A WELL-TAILORED SUIT!" It was like forty male Leenas.
