Guest Report post Posted December 8, 2005 That was the best game as a team that they've played all season. Hopefully the win in Milwaukee last night gave them a good jumpstart.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 DELAND, Fla. -- A nearly life-size sculpture of NBA All-Star Vince Carter will be erected in front of his Daytona Beach high school, despite objection from some board members. Volusia County School Board members agreed Tuesday to accept the sculpture, a donation from Carter's mother. It will be placed in front of a new gym at Mainland High School being build with a $2.5 million contribution from Carter. Board member Judy Conte said accepting the statue sends the wrong message to students. "There have been many students graduated from that school who have made wonderful contributions to their fellow man -- in science, health, theater. Where are their statues?" Conte asked. "I think we're saying we value you if you can make a lot of money, and that troubles me." Carter led the school to a state championship and was named Florida's Mr. Basketball in 1995. He now plays with the New Jersey Nets. The sculpture will feature his image holding a basketball and two children at opposite ends of a granite footbridge. It will be inscribed with inspirational words about the importance of education in building a successful future. Superintendent Margaret Smith said her predecessor, Bill Hall, and Michelle Carter-Scott agreed on the sculpture three years ago when the Mainland gym contribution was being discussed. Carter will use the new gym beginning next summer for youth basketball camps he sponsors annually. Saw that at ESPN.

And the suns have been tearing it up lately. And as for Elton Brand he is playing out his mind, true, but has anyone been paying attention to Shawn Marion. Dude is having one heck of a year right now.

Michael Jordan deserves a statue in front of the United Center. Vince Carter in front of his high school? Not so much.

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2005 speaking of those yahoos, the Nets, they could be a good team if they traded one of their big 3 for a GOOD PF/C frontcourt presence. and by Good I mean better than Kristic.
Just John 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2005 (edited) Thank god McGrady's back in the lineup for Houston. It's amazing the world of difference he makes for that team. If he stays healthy, Houston's still a legit playoff team in the West. If Houston stays strong with T-Mac, the first 3 weeks of the Rockets season might get him some MVP consideration. Sam Cassell should be getting some too, as he's really the veteran player the Clips needed, but Elton Brand is drawing most of the attention on that team. mike546 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2005 What team could be tied with their opponent going into the 4th quarter, hold their opponent to no fgs in the last 6 minutes and 23 seconds, AND STILL LOSE? The Knicks.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 10, 2005 THEY CALLED IT LOOOOOVE... Seriously though, Lakers beat Chicago tonight at the United Center 93-80, and finally we've been seeing the 1-2 Bryant-Odom punch that they were supposed to be working on all year. Kwame Brown's still injured, but the young guys on the team, like Brian Cook, Luke Walton, and of course Smush Parker are really getting shit together for L.A.. It's working out nicely when Kobe doesn't have to take a million shots per game as well. They've recovered nicely from a shitty start to be at 10-9 right now, which is okay as long as they can get it together by the end of the year.

Bored 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2005 Warriors went toe-to-toe with the Suns and Pistons the last few nights but faded at the end both games for their first back-to-back losses of the year. Oh well baby steps to getting back to respectibility. Hopefully this won't trigger a losing streak and kill the nice early season momentum.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 10, 2005 I kind of want to see the Warriors do well, just because I think NoCal deserves it. And no, fuck the Kings. Sacto =/= San Fran in any respect. Why won't they drop the ambiguous "Golden State" though.. Everyone knows SoCal belongs to the Lakers, the Warriors aren't doing it for the whole state. I'd only want to see the Clippers do well if they moved out of Staples, or even better out of L.A. altogether.

Everyone knows SoCal belongs to the Lakers, the Warriors aren't doing it for the whole state. Because they play in Oakland, but need to appeal to San Francisco; baseball and football have two teams by the Bay so it's not a concern for them. "San Francisco Warriors" sounds the best, but oh well
Ripper 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2005 Suns finally had a bad game last night. Luckily it was against the Knicks so they could still win. They have the Clippers on the backend of a back to back. Not thrilled about that, but I don't think Cassell can keep up with Nash and this offense, Marion/Maggette is always a fun matchup, and I expect a big game out of Kaman. But I still think they suns should take them.

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) Check this shit out!!! Ron Artest demands a trade? http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...RTS04/512100493 Partly surprising (the actual trade request) and partly not (c'mon we were all just waiting for "silly Ron stunt of this season", wasn't it around this time the infamous rap album stuff happened?). As a Pistons fan, I can only hope he gets traded to the west for someone not as good in return, hopefully knocking a playoff rival down a notch. Boy would it suck for us if he went to Cleveland, but hopefully Indiana also realizes that giving him to a big division rival is a bad idea. Of course its hardly a lock that he'll be traded. This could all blow over, Bird sits down with RonRon, talks, etc. Still the Pacers have been pretty good to him, standing at his side through all his idiocy, that kinda statement (even if its just off the cuff and not serious) is a hell of a way to repay them. razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 What teams interest Artest? His hometown New York Knicks. "If I go to the West Coast, I would come back to New York after my contract is up," Artest said. "I would go to Cleveland. I wouldn't mind coming off the bench behind LeBron James. There's a lot of players I wouldn't mind coming off the bench behind. If it was a perfect world, I would be going to New York." I hope they trade him to the Hawks or Magic. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 by the by, those comments about 'if i go west i'm going back east to the knicks whne my contract is up' are absolutely moronic, keep that stuff to yourself idiot, you're killing your trade value (and by proxy killing the pacers opportunities to get stuff back for you).
