Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 NYE 2005? Somebody needs to post some Zulu info so I know who this future punching-bag is.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 They're trying to create another Bob Sapp/Nogiuera fight here. He beat Sentoryu in his first PRIDE fight. The same Sentoryu who tapped to Giant Silvas Giant Keylock from his Giant Back..
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 2004? It takes me a while to adjust to the new year. Give me a few more days in December to get used to 2005.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 At least Silva actually beat Sentoryu, whereas Zuluzhino got a stoppage via the referee having bad view of the action.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 This will be nothing like Sapp/Nog, it will be more like Fedor/Goodridge.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 I'll be hoping that it goes like any half decent horror flick where the fat guy is hilariously filleted.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 He beat Sentoryu in his first PRIDE fight. The same Sentoryu who tapped to Giant Silvas Giant Keylock from his Giant Back.. Miller got robbed in that fight. One of the worst stoppages ever. This fight will be sanctioned murder, I hope Zulu has life insurance.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 I am not going to say anything. The last time I said Fedor would have a punching bag, it was with Fujita. Yeah, Fedor won, but people still hold that fight over him to this day. Cocksuckers. Henderson gave his thoughts on Gomi/Sakurai on TUF, and I agree with him. Gomi is going to get the shit beat out of his legs. Gomi/Sakura Henderson/Busta Cro Cop/Hunt Fedor/Zulu Silva/Arona Ogawa/Yoshida Nak/Kondo This is the order (from top to bottom) of the matches I'm excited to see. For reference, I am really excited to see Nak/Kondo.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 Dan Henderson was on the ultimate fighteR? I don't know why I'm not as stoked for the MW Title match as I should be, it's sad really. I really should be excited for it, but I'm not. Probably because of how the MW Title fight doesn't even have the best middleweight in the company. Henderson/Busta Gomi/Sakura Cro Cop/Hunt Fedor/Zulu Silva/Arona Ogawa/Yoshida Nak/Kondo Pretty much the same, except the first two are switched. I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed though, last time I was excited about Busta/Hendo it fell flat. Also, I it seems that was the fight that caused Busta to go on his slide, as in the Rampage match he was certainly still in his prime, taking on a top LHW while still a MW and almost winning. I don't really care that much about Nak vs. Kondo, I predict a lot of ground stalling in that one. Ogawa vs. Yoshida should be interesting, based on what I've seen in MMA Yoshida should kill him, but I think most of his fights have been worked to an extent, so it's hard for me to really say. Ogawa just sucks. Gomi/Sakurai should be amazing, Hendo/Busta might be but I'm not holding out hope, CroCop/Hunt will be interesting to see how it plays out given their K-1 background, Fedor/Zulu should be a fun slaughter, and the rest I'm "Meh" about. Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 I'm going to go into Hendo's fight with low expectations, because whenever I have high expectations the fight alway dissapoints.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 Hendo was online a few days ago and decided to hit up the underground and take an informal QnA. He said some really funny stuff. Called Loretta Hunt a sexy bitch, when asked who was the best fighter in the world, he said Rickson, he hasn't trained with Randy in a bit, doesn't exactly know the status of Couture or Leben but assumes they're still with Team Quest, he's part english, french, indian, Chris Brennen is trying to get him to wear Nogi shorts, he didn't mean to punch Bas, he's been training some BJJ, he probably won't be fighting in the UFC cause he likes what he's making in PRIDE, he says there are lots of groupies in Japan but he's married, and he seemed kinda annoyed that Bustas been complaining about their FC03 match for 2 years now. Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 ]Henderson gave his thoughts on Gomi/Sakurai on TUF I just assumed there would be more of this. I hope they fit Big Nog and Shogun on this show somehow.
cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 Sakuraba/Tamura is possible as negotiations continue. Sakakibara and Takada apparently wants to set this up before Sak retires and feels it would also boost interest in the NYE show due to their long running grudge. Hopefully Tamura will agree and stop ducking Sak. Henderson/Busta - Let's hope it goes longer than it did before. I'll go with Hendo by KO or decision. Gomi/Sakura - Gomi is on a tear but Sakura is back on form. I'll say decision to Gomi since his wrestling skills should help him defend Sakura's attempts at subs on the ground and his improved striking, especially his kicks and defense, should keep Sakura frustrated. Cro Cop/Hunt - I'll go with Cro Cop via liver kick TKO or submission, no way is he KOing Hunt with the left high kick. Fedor/Zulu - Fedor by submission. He better be careful though, Zuluzinho does have heavy hands and if he underestimates him he could end up repeating his Fedor Shuffle in the Fujita fight. Silva/Arona - This is going to be close. I'll say Arona based on the last fight. Ogawa/Yoshida - Yoshida should win. Maybe we'll see our first judo throw KO in PRIDE, that'd be sweet. Nak/Kondo - Kondo should win. Brennan's Nogi USA shorts are actually very good quality shorts. Couture's been away with training with Frank Trigg and Quinton Jackson in LA, taking part in seminars as well as apprently going to Matt Thornton for some pointers. I think he's still TQ, just training outside of his regular camp to improve. He was one of the best guys there and had been training with the same guys for years so I don't think it's so bad if he wants to train elsewhere. When everyone knows your game and you know their one too then you're not going to end up being challenged. Randy does want his belt back so I can't blame him for going to others for extra pointers. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 Rampage has been training a lot with Team Quest, it seems. Hendo talked about sparring with Jackson, also.

cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 Leben's officially moved, and I know that Lindland is running Team Quest right now. Randy lives in Las Vegas, so I don't know what the deal with him is. After he and his wife split he basically decided he'd missed out on a lot of things and is apparently now partying like it's 1999. In a way I can't blame him, he's in great shape, more popular and famous than ever, earning good money, who wouldn't spend time in Vegas if they could afford it? I do wonder where the blonde out of a Whitesnake video who walked to the ring with him before he faced Chuck the second time has gone recently though. Guest CurryMan Report post Posted December 10, 2005 I don´t understand the booking from Pride, If they wanted Zulu to become there version of Bob Sapp they should have feeded him with less talent. Now they put him up against a machine it´s not like this match itself has any drawing power right now so they are just throwing this away if not Zulu makes some incredible fight but I really don´t see it happen. I for one would love to have seen a rematch between Nog and Kharitonov setting up the contender for the title. Imo the first match between these two fighters were amazing and it would be fun to see what would happen in 3 round fight. But the card looks fine as it is, I´m looking forward to Hunt - Crocop the most, and then Gomi - Sakurai. And btw Nakamura will run over Kondo
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 Kondo needs to fight in the middle weight division, not against big LHW's like Vov and Nakamura.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 Kondo needs to fight in the middle weight division, not against big LHW's like Vov and Nakamura. Considering the UFC more or less begged him to compete at 185lbs. to no avail, I doubt PRIDE will convince him to go down even further.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 Why would he not want to? And why would the UFC beg him to do it? I guess they recognized that they had a potential star on their hands.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 Why would he not want to? And why would the UFC beg him to do it? I guess they recognized that they had a potential star on their hands. - For the most part, Japanese fighters tend to fight at the highest weight they can remain competitive in. I would imagine this has to do with the "bigger is better" train of thought when it coms to marketability. - Back then, Kondo was quite an exciting fighter to watch, much moreso than the boring "Half-assed Grappler Yuki" we see nowadays, and this was also a time that the UFC was very eager to show off foreign talent. Add in his KOP credentials and previous successes against HW's, and you would've had an instantly credible MW to build around (at least moreso than either Dave Menne or Gil Castillo, IMO). Guest CurryMan Report post Posted January 2, 2006 No one watched? Or is it a new thread I can´t see? Well I loved the show. Great fights all around perhaps just one boring fight all the others had something that was good or atleast intresting to see. Don´t know if people hasn´t spoiled it yet or hasn´t seen it yet so I won´t mention any results.
