WrestleMania 22 Matches You'd Like To See

So are a lot of other wrestlers whom are employed by the company and struggle to even get on TV. Chavo Guerrero, Gregory Helms, Val Venis, Funaki, etc.

I wouldn't say Shelton is the 3rd best in the WWE...that's a huge stretch...Benoit, Mysterio and HHH are all better than him.

Yeah Benoit and Misterio are better I meant to say third best on the RAW brand. HHH is slow and boring Shelton is more exciting to watch.

World Title: John Cena vs. RVD

Let RVD try to play a heel when he comes back. Have him only go against babyfaces. Let him cheat constantly, but don't do anything that actually makes him look uncool. Then build "heel" RVD vs. "face" Cena with RVD destroying Cena a couple times with chairs to a raucous ovation from the crowd. Finally, in the big match, Cena hits an FU, but RVD kicks out. Then, he gets frustrated, knocks out the referee and goes for a chair only to have it countered into BOOM! a Van Daminator for the three count.

Hm, I don't know how much I like that idea since a "heel" RVD will make all the faces he goes against look like chumps for not getting a reaction.

what's funny is, I'm a Shelton fan and I can safely say he's not one of their best, not at this point...if he has a great worker helping him (Angle, HHH, HBK) he looks like a million bucks, but look at his work with guys like Carlito and Masters...wretched...he'll be great in another year or so, but at this point, he's just not there...

I don't get why so many people are saying they would actually LIKE to see Orton in the main event. This is what this thread is supposed to be right? What you'd LIKE to see (not what you think you'll see)?

Hey, it's a match I'd like to see, not a plan to protect all of Raw's stale boring babyfaces. Although I'm confident that if I was given the book, I could make Raw entertaining and get the ratings up near 5.0 by mid-summer. I haven't though much about wrestling lately, but I still think I have some ideas that could rejuvenate the product.

I really like the idea of Heyman negotiating RVD and Lesnar's contracts when they enter, and then starting an ECW faction with them when they win the belts. They could say that RVD's contract has a stipulation where outside of one guaranteed rematch, he can choose the stips of all his title defenses. They could make big deal about how no one in the WWE can beat him in an "ECW rules" match, and then make everybody work hard to get the one shot in a straight up wrestling match.

I'd have Vince institute an 8-man round robin tournament, with the two wrestlers with the best records facing off in a 2/3 falls match on PPV, and the winner getting the straight up shot at RVD the next month. If they wanted to copy the round robin idea on Smackdown for a shot at Lesnar, that would work too. Then after RVD defeated HHH and Lesnar defeated Benoit, Lesnar could come out on Raw for a mock confrontation with RVD where they're both asking Heyman who the real champion is. They both talk trash about each other's belts before finally Heyman says that there's only one real championship, the ECW championship. With that, both men throw their belts down, and Heyman pulls out a lighter and lights them both on fire before announcing that at Summerslam, RVD will face Brock Lesnar for the ECW Title.

Since ECW would just be a small faction and not a competing federation, it wouldn't fall into the same pitfalls that killed the Invasion. Ideally, it would be like the original nWo, in that some people saw them as heels and some as faces, and they could choose between the two. They wouldn't have to dredge up old wrestlers, but at the same time, they wouldn't just randomly take people off of Raw and Smackdown. For instance, when Jericho comes back, he could talk about how the WWE misused him, and Heyman made sure he got what he needed.

Are you being serious? While were at Kevin Nash & Scott Hall can come out in NWO shirts and attack Heyman, until Sting drops from the ceiling with a baseball bat and chases everyone out of the ring. Then suddenly the lights go out and when they come back on Sabu's in the ring and it's covered with barbwire. Sting and Sabu are about to square off until Austin's truck comes flying to the ring and he gives them both stunners. Austin cracks a beer and celebrates while we hear Joey Styles yell "Oh My God" followed by Schivane saying "Its the greatest night in this sport" all while JR's still screaming "Stone Cold, Stone Cold"

Oh come on now, what's wrong with it? RVD and Lesnar are both current stars. Even if Brock's not on the roster right now, he's only 28, so it's not like his career's ready to be over.

Judging by the numbers ONS did last year, I'd say the ECW brand name's still pretty over, so if they built a faction and had RVD wrestling hardcore matches every night, I think it would get over fine.

As long as we're using wrestlers who can still go, I think the people want a little bit of nostalgia right now. The fact is that the current product sucks. If people hear about something that they actually remember, they're a lot more likely to start tuning in again. I mean when Foley and Austin are on Raw, it's an embarrassment because they look like a couple of fat old men; but if Heyman leads a small ECW faction of current wrestlers, I don't see what the problem is.

As far as the "ECW" title goes, it's just an excuse to unify the belts because I hate not having one real champion when both brands are the same goddamn company. It's just annoying. As soon as Lesnar loses the belt, then you can make it the WWF Title again or whatever, but I think that burning the belts would be a hot enough angle to get people talking. It would certainly be more interesting than Angle knocking Cena over and then smirking for the 100th time.

Well when you say things like "after RVD beats HHH for the title" and Heyman burning the WWE & World titles and renaming them the ECW title, it's pure ridiculous fantasy booking. Not to mention I don't see Brock coming back anytime soon.

That list is a joke? The only wrestler on that list I can see possibly being better is Chavo Guerrero, and even he hasen't had better matches as a single wrestler in his career then Shelton Benjamin.

Shelton outperforms everyone every week he is on and he always steals the show. He's a great technical wrestler and seller. Plus he got a huge reaction at WM21 and was one of if not the most over guy than night just because of his wrestling ability in money in the bank. Also Shelton carried HBK in their match with his exciting offense earlier this year. The guy can work a great, classic match like that. Plus he has really good mic skills --better than every one on that list -- he has main event mic skills almost and we'd see it more if he was given the chance. If he turned heel before the Rumble he'd be over enough to go after Cena by WrestleMania trust me.

you've got to be kidding me!

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!

saying that Shelton carried the HBK match has got to be the single stupidest thing I have ever see on this board in all the years, through all the different versions...

you're GOT to be bullshitting...that entire post has GOT to be sarcastic...

Maybe he didn't carry him 100% but I think Shelton was the main reason that match was great. He timed his spots well and he brought the psychology. I like HBK too and he's probably better than Shelton right now but I think Shelton will be better overall soon and I think that match was good because of him more than the heart break kid.

Plus Shelton vs Cena for the WWE Title is just what I want to see that doesn't mean it will happen!!

I've never posted on this board before but what can I say...I'm a mark for fantasy booking and I had some free time at work today. Here is my Wrestlemania 22 card:

Tazz vs. Shawn Michaels

I know, it's a rip-off of the Tazz/Angle angle from One Night Stand...but who gives a shit...I'm the booker and it's a match I have always wanted to see.

WWE Tag Team Championship

Super Crazy & Psicosis vs. Stevie Richards & Nova vs. MNM vs. Chavo Guerrero & Carlito

Richards & Nova/Dean get repackaged, not as the BWO, but as a legit tag team that allows them to show their talents in the ring. Chavo & Carlito are managed by Jonathan Coachman, who has been thankfully removed from his broadcast position.

Intercontinental Championship

RVD [c] vs. John Cena

Cena needs to drop the strap, be brought down a couple of notches, and get more polished in the ring.

Retirement Match

Ric Flair vs. The Undertaker

After dropping the IC belt to RVD, The Nature Boy announces that Wrestlemania will the final match of his career. In a classic Flair promo he talks about how he accomplished everything that he hoped to in the business and there is only one way that he wants to go out...by stopping The Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak. The two have a classic match...Flair does the job, as only he can...and shows up on Smackdown a few weeks later to reunite with Batista as his "professional advisor."

Steve Austin & Mick Foley vs. JBL & Triple H

Two legends team up in an attempt to bring two self-proclaimed "Wrestling Gods" back to earth

U.S. Championship (Ladder Match)

Shelton Benjamin [c] vs Rey Mysterio

Benjamin flourishes after a move over to Smackdown and wins the title from Booker T. He and Rey Rey pull out all the stops for this match.

World Tag Team Championship

Big Show & Kane [c] vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch

I don't know why they split Cade & Murdoch up in the first place. This match is just filler to bring the crowd down from the Benjamin/Mysterio spot-fest and get them ready for the double main event.

World Heavyweight Championship

Batista [c] vs. Edge vs. Randy Orton

Edge finally captures the title.

WWE Championship

Kurt Angle [c] vs. Chris Benoit

I know that we have seen it before but I just love these two in the ring together

Shelton definitely didn't "carry" the match with Michaels, but Shawn couldn't have that good of a match with just anyone as some people seem to think.

And HHH is a good worker, but he couldn't "carry" a match if it had handles on it. You're just reaching with that comment.

John Bradshaw Layfield Vs. Ric Flair

Interpromotional Match:

Chris Benoit & Matt Hardy Vs. Chris Masters & Edge

U.S. Title Match:

Booker T© Vs. Bobby Lashley

Smackdown Tag Team Titles, Triple Threat:

MNM© Vs. Mexicools Vs. Burchill & Regal

RAW Tag Team Titles:

Big Show & Kane Vs. 3MW

World Title/WWE Title

Batista vs John Cena

Triple H vs Kurt Angle

The Undertaker vs Chris Benoit

WWE/World Tag Titles

MNM vs Big Show/Kane

Shawn Michaels vs Shelton Benjamin

Intercontinental/United States Title

Ric Flair vs Booker T

Rob Van Dam vs Rey Mysterio

*Filler Matches*

That's the best I could come up with. Any combination of RVD/Mysterio/Hunter/Angle/Shelton/Michaels would work really, and Orton would have to be on there somewhere (maybe replace him for Booker and Booker vs Lashley?). Maybe add Hogan/Austin on there too.

He could do the exact same match, I repeat, the EXACT SAME MATCH with Mysterio. Or Van Dam. Or Juvi.

Shelton Benjamin is largely overrated due to the single fact that he's the only non-cruseirweight spot monkey they have on RAW right now.
