So this has bugged me for a long time and I always forget to post about it: Why did the ECW fans yell "Shah!" at Hack Myers? I've only seen a couple matches of his, and I know nothing of the guy, so I've never figured it out.

 

Am I just not getting an obvious joke here or something?

He was nicknamed "The Shaw of ECW".

 

Hence, the "SHAW" chant.

That's actually what I was guessing the reason was, but I haven't seen an actual match where he does this yet... or where *his* "shah" is audible over the *crowds* "shah"

 

In the match I just watched it's Hack Myers vs JT Smith, Holiday Hell 95... the crowd actually does yell "Shit!" everytime JT throws a punch or does a move. Pretty funny stuff.

When I first saw ECW in 1995, the entire crowd yelling "SHIT!" in unison was one of the many things that sold me on the fed (it certainly didn't hurt in comparison with the shit put forth in the big two at that time)

Val Venis used to (not sure if he still does) yell SHHHHHIIIIIIIIITTTTT when he would suplex someone. That always made my day.

Doesn't Randy Orton also say "DOOSH!" whenever he punches someone during a match (especially during the HIAC match against The Undertaker at Armageddon recently)?
