BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2006 Suicide should never be an answer...it's the easy way out and life ain't always easy. At the same time, it's a lot easier for me to say it now, being quite a few years removed from my teen years. For teenagers it can be pretty tough...for the first 12 years or so we're pretty sheltered for the most part. The teen years give us the first real taste of the outside world, the world we will enter soon without the protection of our parents. For some it's a huge shock, some adapt better than others. RepoMan 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 That and a lot pepole between the ages of 12 and 18 tend to be petty assholes making Jr and High school suck even more. I'll be honest and say everytime someone said high school was the best years of your life part of me woundered if I should just off my self then. If more pepole made teenagers realize high school if just an annoying phase of your life were your thrown togeather with pepole based on nothing but geographic proximity instead of pretending it going to be the best years of your life less teenagers would be fucked up. Better than when I was a little kid, better than elementary school, WAAAAAY better than middle school, and better than all four years of high school combined. I'm with Repo: Less teens would hate themselves and their lives if they were flat-out told that high school is a transitionary phase that's just there to help you prepare for the real world. Not even academically, since you'll never use HALF of what you learned in school (I can't even remember a damn thing about any form of math beyond basic algebra), but socially. People are assholes, find the few people that aren't assholes and become friends with them, or adapt and be the biggest asshole you can be so that you'll succeed. ...of course that's kinda not the message I'd want to send my kids, but it'd certainly help 'em get through high school. Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2006 Anybody ever see this documentary called "The Self Made Man"? They showed it at a film festival here a couple months ago. This independently wealthy, apparent control freak, kindof old guy (not like 80 or anything) had prostate cancer, so he killed himself. The bulk of it was the video tape he'd made to his family where he layed out why it was completely logical and a good idea for him to kill himself (which, crazy enough, didn't sound unreasonable at the time) interspliced with reactions of the family a while after the suicide.
