You don't need a pseudo-holiday to make fun of Jews. Any time is a good time.

 

I heard on RIGHT-WING RADIO a while back that the guy who created Kwanza was a real piece of work and went to jail for a number of things...

What does celebrating it consist of, anyway?

Mostly revolves around these 7 principles called the Nguzo Saba, with one day dedicated to each principle (i.e. day one is Umoja, which means unity, day two for Kujichagulia--self determination, and so on). A candle is lit for each day of the celebration, and I think there's some gift-giving involved as well, although we never really got into that aspect of it since we celebrated christmas (which I'm also not big on these days) too.

The traditional gift is a "What the Heck is Kwanza?" book, correct? Kwanzabot has been handing those out for several hundred years... or will be a few hundred years from now, I guess.

You know, the principles of Kwanza are based more on Marxism then they are anything African, and some of the symbols used (like corn) aren't even native to Africa.
