Guest Dam(o)nYankees Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Orton/Rey for the next # 1 contender would be fine at WM provided they eliminate each other tonight. I just think that Rey wins tonight, loses the title shot to Orton at NWO and Orton/Angle is going to be the match they try to build to as the SD showpiece which makes no sense to me. I agree. Who would want to see that match?
Downhome Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Angle/Orton doesn't even sound decent to me on a basic throwaway PPV, so the talk of it taking place at WM is horrible to me. There isn't even a tiny part of me that wants to see that match on that PPV. I wouldn't even want to see it if it wasn't for a title. I just don't have any want to see that match period.
Guest OKCoyote Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Why is Henry in the World Title picture? I know he's a relatively new face in the picture, but come on. He comes back and within two weeks he is the number one contender. Hopefully, he gets buried tonight. As for Triple H winning the Royal Rumble, I have no problem with it. As a matter of fact, I hope he wins since HHH/Edge and HHH/Cena would both be interesting matches for WM. It's filler. They did the same thing a couple years ago with Hardcore Holly going after Brock, in fact it was the same time of year and Hardcore had also just returned. I'm a little surprised HHH/Cena hasn't already happened.
The Amazing Rando Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 But Hardcore was coming off an injury Brock gave him right?
Team Angle Pusher Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I consider Henry more of a threat to Kurt Angle then Hardcore Holly to Brock Lesnar. They build Henry up way better.
Guest Edgehead Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Well my predictions for tonight. JBL vs Boogeyman - I expect it to be short and full of shortcuts and probably worms. JBL wins. Match sucks Ashley vs Mickie James - Mickie seems to have all of the ''Alexis Laree'' sucked out of her and Ashley is learning on live tv. Trish as ref will have to carry these two and that is a god awful task to have. Ashley wins, Mickie snaps. Hopefully short Kid Kash in a ''Cruiserweight Invitational'' - May feature talented Kendrick and London. Crowd will not care. I can see a title change. Maybe a secret new star. Kurt Angle vs Mark Henry - If I hear the words ''new World Champion, Mark Henry'' I will never watch WWE again. Short match with Angle trying to take it to ***. Edge vs Cena - Edge = Ratings it seems. Cena winning the belt so soon could ruin the repackaging of Cena over the past couple of weeks. Should be good with good crowd heat. Rumble Match - Without doubt, one of my favourite matches of the year. Seems to be three likely winner in this. Orton is still not ready and I wonder if he will be ever. HHH has been away from the title scene since June and you can tell he misses it. He does not need a Rumble win to build himself up for a Title match but Rey Rey does. They seem to be going in the direction of dedicating Rey's destiny to Eddie and if done right, they should give Rey the win.
cabbageboy Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Orton has literally zero momentum right now, which is death for anyone with Rumble aspirations. I mean he jobbed to UT, then spent the past month screwing with Benoit and taking 3 times to win 1 match in that Best of 7. And then jobbed to Benoit this week. The vibe I got from SD is that he and Booker will have a falling out that costs both men. I am also unsure of why everyone thinks a SD guy is so obviously winning. Look, SD always has No Way Out to do a tourney or contender match and get a #1 contender for Mania. This is Raw's last PPV time to build for WM, so they have to have a Raw guy win in my view. With that considered it eliminates the potential winners to HHH and RVD. HHH winning after blathering about it for weeks doesn't make any sense and would also kill the crowd (I see Big Show and others tossing The Game). Also, if Edge retains against Cena they can have HHH want to kick the shit out of Cena out of frustration for not winning the Rumble. Therefore, RVD is still my pick. He has to at least be in it near the end since he'll be by far the most over guy in the match, and if he's eliminated that'd be the death of crowd heat (I doubt the crowd believes Rey can win something like a Rumble). Besides, if Edge retains as I think he will, he's going to need a WM opponent and RVD is the best choice.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I wanna see Mark Henry win the title and a SD guy win the rumble just so they can completely ignore the Main Event while promoting WM, going instead with HHH/Cena and Vince/HBK and Hogan/whoever. WM Buyrate is really low, and Mark Henry is finally fired.
Hawk 34 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I'm pretty interested in tonight's show because there is a slight uncertain sentiment in regards to what will happen tonight. There are three credible and possible winners for tonight (Orton/Rey/HHH),which offers a bit of interest in the show(which it usually fails to obtain). Like LOTC, i have a weird feeling the Angle/Henry match is better then it should ever be.
NoCalMike Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I am excited to see RVD back. I know he isn't winning the Rumble or coming even remotely close, but I sincerely hope he has a decent to good showing in the rumble. I am also very interested to see what kind of pop he receives and if he is going with the same theme song.
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 If my prediction of Cena losing via screwjob to Edge, then winning the Rumble ensues... this board will be funny, tonight. Heck, probably all fans will be funny, as most will likely shit all over it.
The Niggardly King Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 RVD will probably be in the Final 6, maybe even 5. I can see Angle/Henry either going two ways... 1. They have a good 10-15 minute match that many people will be talking about. 2. Angle hurts himself by doing one of his spots, and the shit hits the fan. I don't know about Cena/Edge.... If Edge really does beat Cena, it's going to be with run-ins the likes of which even TNA has never seen before.
Dobbs 3K Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Well, it would be believable if Misterio comes in late during the Rumble, but I doubt we'll see that. My guess is he will be one of the top 10 entrants, and last about fourty or fifty minutes to win the whole thing. The nice thing is that there isn't really a clear cut winner going into the Rumble. Usually in the last few years it's been pretty obvious who the winner is going to be, or at least down to one or two. This year, WWE really hasn't made it that obvious who is going to win. Frankly, I think the buildup to the Rumble has been a little poor, maybe due to the fact that it seems like there was just a PPV a couple weeks ago.
Team Angle Pusher Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 They can tease Lashley/Kane confrontation They can tease Lashley/Show confrontation They can tease Show/Kane confrontation They can tease Ric Flair winning the Rumble They can tease HBK going from #1 to winning it They can tease HBK turning Heel They can tease Chris Benoit winning it They can tease a Masters/Carlito confrontation The possibilities are endless, I would all like to see them. This Rumble is really stacked with contenders and I hope some guys will get extra attention (like Lashley, he should eliminate like 5 guys). Last Four: Rey Mysterio Triple H Randy Orton Chris Benoit
naiwf Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 If my prediction of Cena losing via screwjob to Edge, then winning the Rumble ensues... this board will be funny, tonight. Heck, probably all fans will be funny, as most will likely shit all over it. The board would crash within 10 seconds of said event, but the opening minutes of RAW would be pretty interesting because there's no way in hell Cena would not get booed out of the building. The only thing that could possibly be worse from a fan's perspective is a clean Mark Henry title win in about 5 minutes.
Hawk 34 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I have a feeling that Orton wins but Mysterio gets the "eliminates" Triple H spot as glorified compenstation.
snuffbox Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Will the board shut down for a few hours tonight?
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Will the board shut down for a few hours tonight? If something amazing like RVD winning the RR, then yes. Usually I have trouble coming here after a big PPV.
MikeJordan23 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Interesting note from Meltzer's update The winner of tonight's Royal Rumble is not scheduled for a main event at Wrestlemania this year.
Guest tony manero Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Interesting note from Meltzer's update The winner of tonight's Royal Rumble is not scheduled for a main event at Wrestlemania this year. Well, that's stupid. Mysterio, Orton, or RVD would fit that criteria.
Downhome Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 If they are going to pull shit like that, I wish they would just start saying that the RR winner gets something like the Money In the Bank thing.
Dobbs 3K Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 They've said that the winner gets the shot at WM though, right? That means the winner will lose the title shot before WM, or maybe use it early (like at No Way Out, I guess).
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 That may just mean the title match won't be the main event.
Guest OKCoyote Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Well I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact I won't be getting the Rumble. I was going to get the webcast but don't have the funds available tonight. Anybody know where I can get decent live coverage? If not the event itself, than an up to date show report or something? ...or should I just keep clicking this here Refresh button?
MikeJordan23 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 They've said that the winner gets the shot at WM though, right? Yep.
Guest tony manero Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 That may just mean the title match won't be the main event. Nah, I doubt that. Even JBL vs. Cena and Angle vs. Guerrero the year before were considered "Main Events" even though they weren't the last matches on the show.
Guest tony manero Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 It looks like Rey's winning. But in the Observer a while back, it was said that Rey is scheduled to be in a "main event" match.
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 It does look like Rey's winning, but I just don't believe WWE would go through with it.
