NFL Conference Championships

Recommended Posts

I just want the 'Hawks to get to the Super Bowl. Obviously, I want them to win, but if they make it to the big game, I think they'll have erased the stigma of being chokers.

The only reason I can think of to hate the 'Hawks is that they've made it to the playoffs a couple times, simply because they played in a shitty division. That talk can be put to rest some this season, though they did have a very easy schedule.

Losing the big game isn't going to erase the stigma of being a choker. It just means they choked on a bigger level.

Just as long as Hasselbeck isn't stupid enough to predict they are going to win the Super Bowl before the NFC title game and everything will be fine.

I don't really hate the Seahawks, but they've always seemed to be one of those "meh, they're there" teams that you know they exist, but you just can't care about them, win or lose.

The funny thing is a Seattle/Denver SB would be a match of what were once division rivals... but I don't even think fans of those teams would care about that.

I have to do something that I really don't like doing: admit that I was wrong.

I've been very vocal that Troy Palomalo is overrated, and really have to eat my words. He's not the all-world player that Steeler fans say he is, but I will full-on admit that he's one of the top 5 safeties in the game.

Man, I feel dirty for saying that.

Every man, women, dog and so called expert picked Carolina to get to the super bowl

And those exact same people predicted that Arizona would be in the wild card spot and Seattle was going to struggle and get to 500 this year.

It still amazes me that so many people thought the Cardinals were going to be so good.

As for this weekend, I'm taking Denver and Seattle. I think the Steelers have a very good chance to win (and a better chance than Carolina), but I see the Broncos getting some sort of fluke play to swing the game late and survive. In the other game, the Panthers will because they'll be missing DeShaun Foster, forcing Jake Delhomme into a bad game.

I'm a little perplexed as to why everybody thinks the Panthers are going to be passing all day long. Nick Goings isn't Foster or even Stephen Davis, but he's still a very capable back - guy rushed for five 100 yard games in 2004. I'm sure they'll have to alter their gameplay a little bit, but Goings is still capable of keeping the Seattle D honest.

The common fan overrates the importance of a few good WR's, and a potentially good offense. Especially the fans here, who are mostly idiots about football. Although, they've never seen winning football, so I guess it's understandable.

Plus, people went overboard with how horrible they thought the NFC West would be.

I'm predicting Carolina & Denver making it to the Super Bowl. I'd prefer if the Steelers got there but as a Green Bay fan, I don't really care. ;)

Bettis went to Notre Dame, so I want them to win it all.

But you are up against the best Run defence in the league and a somewhat decent offensive. Seattle had also 12 different playrs with sacks this year, which is amazing considering they can attack from all different sides.

The Steelers under Cowher have lost so many AFC title games it isn't funny. Now they get a Broncos team undefeated at home this year and the end result will likely be the same. I'll take Denver by 7 or so. It's awful tough to win 3 straight road playoff games.

In terms of the Seahawks/Panthers, I'm not sure. I think it'll be really close but the Seahawks are also undefeated at home so they should scrape by with a narrow win.

One thing I think will help Pittsburgh out a lot is that they can switch in and out their RBs with regularity, preventing them from sucking wind. It's very hard for an every-down back to succeed in the thin air of Denver.

That game is going to be in the area of 17-14. I can guarantee Plummer will throw a pick for a TD.

I think it's a lack of a star QB. They aren't really marketable.

Jake Delhomme is a star? At least Seattle can pimp the MVP status on their team. What's marketable about Carolina? A WR that is generally 5th or 6th mentioned in regards to WR's (not neccesarily talent wise mind you).

It goes like this. Plummer is noted for his chokes and his (in)ability to lead a team in the 4th quarter, Delhomme is noted for his personality, Ben is noted for riding motorcycles and shit, but what is Hasselbeck noted for? Choking in Green Bay?

Carolina is noted as a hard working team, but they aren't marketable either. Only marketable team in the playoffs left is the Steelers.

Honestly, as a Browns fan I don't care which teams win this weekend as long as the NFC team wins the Super Bowl.

Yeah, I'm bitter. So what?

Hasselbeck does have a hot and semi-famous sister in law...

You have a point, but I don't want FOX going to Quinn-like levels of covering significant others.

EDIT: Again.

The again was because I seem to remember that sister in law of Matt Hasselbeck's being shown a lot during a Washington game that Tim was in.

I know, I am just saying the game is on ABC this year so ABC/ESPN can just pretend to be promoting The View during the superbowl hype or something. In reality, it's the only worthwhile thing about Hasselbeck other then the OT in GB incident.

Jaysis, how did that slip my mind? I think they built Seahawks stadeum too small to even host a SB ever, stupid Seattle.

Like Seattle in early February would be a Super Bowl destination.

By the way,

CN Tower : Space Needle : penis :: SkyDome : Seahawks Stadium : vagina

That's a joke right? Steve Smith during and after the regular season was regarded as one of, if not the best WR in the NFL. He had the stats to prove it also.

Reading comprehension is a nice tool to learn.

Ask an regular joe, name five current NFL WR'S

They will name Johnson, T.O, Moss almost instantly and the other two would depend on that person's location.

It's not a matter of talent/stats and what the tv experts say, the point in question was marketability, something Steve Smith hasn't reached yet. Discussion of talent was never mentioned.
