Hawk 34 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I love the plants in the crowd. Yes, obviously the young twenty-somethings are loving this. This has the feeling of an MTV music award performence. Phone in, likely lip-synced and phony crowd.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 The Roethlisberger TD was undeniably NOT a touchdown and there's no purpose for revieiwing footage if you're going to see you made a blatant mistake on a particular call, but then follow through on not changing it anyway. It wasn't quite THAT blatantly obvious. Call could've gone either way No way. If that would have originally been ruled short of a touchdown, followed by the replay being shown, there would have been no disagreement from everybody that Roethlisberger came up short. It was the fact that the referee ruled it a touchdown that some are now acting as if it was a difficult call. It wasn't. The ball didn't touch the line. Even with his arm blocking a full view of the shot, it was easy to see the ball simply did not touch the line. I simply cannot see how that call could be misconstrued as a TD. I thought I saw the ball cross the line, just about halfway, while in midair. Maybe that's how it was misconstrued as a TD? I'll just say it before Marvinisalunatic mentions it, but Mick Jagger and the Stones look even worse in HD.
The Czech Republic Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I'm gonna catch hell from the Music folder, but the Stones just don't do anything for me. "Gimme Shelter" is an awesome song, though. Break that one out.
Hawk 34 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Ya know, I am really surprised the NFL didn't try to have Rolling Stones do some cheesy Hurricane Katrina tribute ala U2 and 9/11.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 End this concert. Where's Halftime Heat?
Anakin Flair Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Wonder if they got the Stones so they would be sure that nothing 'bad' would happen this year.
C Dubya 04 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 This makes me miss Paul from last year.
2GOLD Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I love the plants in the crowd. Yes, obviously the young twenty-somethings are loving this. This has the feeling of an MTV music award performence. Phone in, likely lip-synced and phony crowd. Dude, I hate to tell you this but a lot of 20 something girls still want to fuck the Stones. I don't know WHY but they do. So they probably really ARE loving this. Me, I used to like the Stones. I still like their old albums but time has passed and lapped their asses. Wait? TWO SONGS?!?! AT THE SUPER BOWL?!?!
Hank Kingsley Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I'm gonna catch hell from the Music folder, but the Stones just don't do anything for me. "Gimme Shelter" is an awesome song, though. Break that one out. Same here, but most of their songs I like ("Gimme Shelter", "Tumbling Dice") sound shitty live.
The Czech Republic Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 So they set up that entire corporate logo of a stage so that Mick Jagger could yell like 75% of the lyrics to "Start Me Up" and "Satisfaction"? Lot of prep for not a lot of payoff, if you ask me.
Slayer Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Wonder if they got the Stones so they would be sure that nothing 'bad' would happen this year. Fail
The Czech Republic Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Wonder if they got the Stones so they would be sure that nothing 'bad' would happen this year. A bad concert just happened, does that count Superstar, good avatar choice
Slayer Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I didn't know the Rolling Stones had a token black guy
Hawk 34 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I'm gonna catch hell from the Music folder, but the Stones just don't do anything for me. "Gimme Shelter" is an awesome song, though. Break that one out. I am in the same boat as you are, maybe they are a good live act which is their claim to fame (although I'm not seeing it here) but very little of thier arsenal is special.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 The Stones looked like gay Bar rejects there. holding each other in tight shirts Micheal Jackson should be brought back - that'd get publicity and ratings for all the wrong reasons
Anakin Flair Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Wish they would have done 'Paint it Black'.
The Czech Republic Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I like some of the Brian Jones stuff, but when it comes to blues-tinged rock, other bands do it better without so much bullshit.
2GOLD Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Well, I guess the Stones just added the Super Bowl to their 10000th retirement concert tour. I thought they would put on at least a mildly decent one, instead it became a concert that sucked.
snuffbox Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Count Young and Irvin in the 'its a fix!' crowd. What did they say? I changed the channel because I have no desire to see the Stones "rock". They said it was clearly a bad call...and both mentioned how Irvin made a career out of doing what Jackson did.
Hawk 34 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 You know, if they wanted overated 70's arena bands, they could have gone with KISS. At least Detroit Rock City would have fit the event, rather then I can't get no (satisfaction). They are equal corporate whores as well.
The Czech Republic Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 They could've done some really cool Motown stuff if they really wanted, too, which makes it even more annoying.
Guest Smues Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 What the hell is a code black? OMG there's a black man in the building get him get him!
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Madden called Holmgram "mild mannered" I'm not sure that was ever used to describe him before try Volcanic
2GOLD Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 To be fair, the Stones halftime was the perfect fit for that first half. They both really sucked. Hopefully this second half is good.
Slayer Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Wonder who the safe choice will be for next year
Guest Smues Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 We have a code black, HIS FATHER IS THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY!
naiwf Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 They said it was clearly a bad call...and both mentioned how Irvin made a career out of doing what Jackson did. Thanks. I'm glad everyone in the booth(s) isn't a shill.
Hank Kingsley Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 If the halftime show is going to consist of two songs, just hire Europe and Asia to play their hits in the first ever Transcontinental Halftime Show.
2GOLD Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Wonder who the safe choice will be for next year FALL OUT BOY with special guest Lindsay Lohan!
snuffbox Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I dont mind the personal opinions on the Stones...to each/their own, etc... But lip synching? Mick was clearly yelling and wheezing into the mic...nothing sounded crisp or studiolike. Overrated 70s arena band? So everything they did in their best decade doesnt count, ok. 10000 retirement tour? When was the last time they had a retirement tour? Theyve denied retiring in nearly every interview theyve done in the past decade.
