LJSexay 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 So does this mean that WB will become CW in the near future or will my local cable provider no-sell the change and go for the cheap ass UHF channel that shows nothing but religious programming? WB stations to join CW, UPN stations to NOT join CW: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Houston, Miami, Denver, St. Louis, Portland (Ore.), Indianapolis, San Diego, Hartford, New Orleans and Albany. UPN stations to join CW, WB stations to NOT join CW: Philadelphia, San Francisco, Atlanta, Detroit, Tampa, Seattle, Sacramento, Pittsburgh, West Palm Beach, Norfolk, Oklahoma City and Providence. The status of affiliates in other television markets has not been determined/announced. sorry, but that the hell does all this mean? I live in LA - so am I getting CW AND UPN? Am I getting Smackdown on CW from then on? I am so perplexed!

Am I getting Smackdown on CW from then on? I am so perplexed! I live in New York, so we're in the same grouping. What I think it means is that our UPN affiliate is going to become some other channel while the WB will become the new CW. For me that means the Mets would stay on while the network Yankee games would get lost. Works for me

Celtic Guardian 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 According to Variety, UPN and WWE had already quietly reached an agreement to air Smackdown for another two years. The deal seems to be applicable to the new CW. From Variety: Still, the CW will need fewer pilots this development season than the old combo of the WB and UPN. It doesn't help that, per CBS ParPar Group toppertopper Nancy Tellem, UPN has quietly worked out a deal to keep WWE's "Friday Night Smackdown" on the air for at least two more seasons. BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 I wonder if this means I might actually be able to watch Smackdown before I go out on Friday nights...here in Des Moines we have WB but not UPN, used to get SD on the WB affiliate on Saturday nights until a couple of years ago when they decided to throw on MASH reruns. It's been on our NBC channel at Sunday nights at 11:30, and I sure as hell don't stay up to watch it.

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with WGN, which, at least in Chicago, carries WB programming. All of these other cities also get Tribune-affiliated stations. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2006 WGN/Tribune actually owned about a fifth of the WB until now. Dunno what they'll do with channel 50 now, which I believe is owned by Fox, or whoever owns channel 32.
