Well then...go Sting.

Well with the reported buyrate increase and the demonstrated drawing power, TNA doesn't look so foolish for push Sting so hard right about now. Now if they can put him in a hot angle and hook those people who check the show out for him, they'll really be doing something. This next week's rating is just as important, though it's great to see them break the 1.0 barrier that they'd been nudging against for quite some time.

The major stupidity is having Sting leave for two months now. That just isn't smart at all. Course every fucking time I say TNA is doing something that won't work, it works. I think I'll just let it ride, they seem to have a better idea about angles working than I do.

Kinda makes one wish TNA hadn't booked Sting to "disappear" again, doesn't it. <still shaking head at that>

I dunno...I'm taking a wait and see approach with it too, but what I see happening here is Jarrett claiming that he ran Sting off (as usual), only for Sting to show up and cost him the belt. I have a strong feeling that Sting's interfering in that match, he almost has to given the storyline, but if they do it, I'm hoping they do it post-match (a la Tyson/HBK at WM14) then during the match. It won't be the end of the world if they don't though, because in everybody eyes Christian is above Jarrett, and when people like the worker, they tend to be more forgiving (like people remembering Foley running around ringside with the belt on Raw more than Austin stunnering the Rock before Foley pinnned him). Anyway, after AAO, Jarrett and Sting feud from there, and Christian battles Monty, then Abyss, then probably Raven. I have a feeling that we'll be getting an extended Christian/Monty feud after Christian wins the belt though and that two feuds, along with Rhino/Abyss will be interwined enough to build to another Lethal LockDown match at LockDown.

awesome news

I wouldn't mind if during this year Sting had a short run with title.

Sting pulled some fans in. Now can TNA keep those fans they pulled in or will the rating go back down to normal? This means nothing if they do go back down. TNA really needs to think about this situation and how to capitalize on it.

Bobo is on to it.

Even if TNA were to get a 3.0 rating, they still get zero ad revenue dollars. They have more eyeballs watching the tv, which is good. However, are they convincing any more of those eyeballs to order a ppv, which is one of the major revenue streams for TNA.

I'm guessing the biggest reason the rating went up is because more people gave TNA a chance with the Monday replay last week after the UFC special thing.

The bad thing is that this week's Impact was really boring. 3 squashes, a decent garbage match, and Sting saying he's "leaving". Imagine the ratings if TNA woke up and made Impact the slightest bit interesting.

Its time for Don West to go back to his rootS and start shrilling Sting merchandise!

This week was better than the week before, so what's your point.

.2 is shattering all existing records? Isn't that a little strong of an adjective to use? I'm glad they got the 1.0 finally but c'mon...

At this point TNA needs to impress Spike first, so they can be put in a better position to make more money.

.2 by itself isn't a big deal, but if that .2 is on top of .9 as a baseline, it is a pretty big difference. If any show had about a 20% ratings boost over their best effort to date they'd hype that as "shattering" too.

I totally agree, Carnival.

TNA needs baby steps here. Gotta crawl before you can walk. I'm just hoping that the booking puts guys like Sting in position to draw not just ratings, but money from more ppv buys because TNA is still running in the red and needs to show some growth before the Carters pull the plug.

And I'm sure PPV buys, while being TNA's main source of revenue are also being watched by Spike to monitor audience growth.

If they get Jericho, I can see their ratings ascend to the 1.5 level.

thats better than the 15 mill # that used to be thrown around.

Last I heard, they are 5 mil in debt

Where did you hear that? I know when they started on Spike, they were estimated anywhere from $20-25 Million in debt. Perhaps the DVD and Video game deals have brought in some money? Still, I'd like to know where they are operating in the red at.

IF that 20-25 million is true, then i don't imagine they've gained that much ground since the spike debut.

IIRC, the $20-25 Mil figure is an old number, from when they were running live PPVs every week that were drawing 6,000 buys and then turned around and paid FSN $30,000 week with the hopes of increasing the buyrates. People tend to forget that they underwent several cost costing measures, such as taping Impact bi-weekly instead of weekly, cutting the weekly PPVs and eliminating the travel between Nashville and Orlando. Then, they added several revenue streams, like DVDs, pending house show money (they're getting on the Michigan show even if no one shows up). And although they get no ad revenue from Impact, they're also no longer burning $30,000 every time it airs, so I'd say that anyone using that number nowadays is a bit off. Dixie did an interview when they first got on Spike and said that without the burden off paying for TV, they'd break even within 6 months. I don't know whether that happened or not, but the fact that she'd predicted it so soon tells me they were closer to the black than $20 million 3 months ago.

see I was under the impression they were paying spike....so they aren't paying spike, they just don't get the ad money? whut?

A news topic someone posted on this board not too long ago that Morphoplex offered to buy TNA for 5 Million, and that's how much they were in debt.
