Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 The Clippers have never been 11 games over .500 before? Wow, I did not know how bad of a franchise they really were. Yeah well it helps to finally have the owner try to put a competitive team out there In the last three years Sterling has 1. Hired Dunleavy for 4 years at 10 Million 2. Re-signed Brand for 86 Million 3. Re-signed Maggette for 42 Million 4. Signed Mobley for 42 Million 5. Traded for Sam Cassell 6. Offered MAX deals to Arenas, Bryant and Ray Allen To put everything in perspective, The biggest Clipper contract before all this was a 5 year 15 million dollar deal with ERIC PIATKOWSKI

Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 Man, I tell you. MVP should be a two way race between Steve Nash and Chauncy Billups. Barring a major injury or the Cavs or Lakers not losing anymore games this season, a point guard should be winning the MVP again.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 At this point, I think it's Steve Nash's award to lose. Even though I supported him for MVP last year, I considered it sort of a fluke and that he was being rewarded for the Suns miraculous turnaround. But it seems like his performance this year continues to show how amazing he really is. I don't think anyone saw the Suns being this good after losing 3/5th of their starting lineup, including Amare. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 Steve Nash is the MVP right now. Billups is playing with 2 more all-stars, while Diaw, House, Barbosa, Jones, and Bell are having career years.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 Barring a major injury or the Cavs or Lakers not losing anymore games this season, a point guard should be winning the MVP again. I'd add the Clippers into that, as well. If they end up with 50+ wins, Brand has got to be seriously considered.

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2006 of course he does, he knows its his job to ruin the Knicks franchise as a Pistons agent. Him and Joe D are still working together! Next stop... hmm... how about Cleveland or Miami, Isiah? (relax knicks fans, i'm kidding. sort of.)
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 I guess the reserves aren't going to be leaked on ESPN Radio this year, but here are a few tidbits I found on their website - Nowitzki is like in. - Anthony and Camby are out. - Billups, Hamilton, and both Wallaces are all in. - Davis and Richardson (from GS) are out. - Arenas is out. - and the biggest injustice so far...Vince Carter is in, but NOT JASON KIDD. I guess stuffing your stats and doing some fancy dunks should be rewarded ahead of actually making your team and teammates better while still putting up all-star numbers. And I don't even like Kidd.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 But really, watching the Nets this year, Kidd should be in, but Carter definately deserves the spot. He was putting up monster numbers to get the Nets back to a decent number of wins. And he was doing it all in iso's and one on one play so I don't even know how much credit you would give Kidd for his numbers then. Although, I would still rather see Kidd there than Carter. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 Oh don't get me wrong, he deserves to be there, but not while Kidd and Arenas sit at home.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 No way should Carter be in ahead of Kidd. Dude is a monster on offense, but if Kidd doesn't make it neither one of them should. Also think it's a crime that Camby doesn't make it, but I'm not really surprised due to how cutthroat the West is. Melo is having an all-star year, the West is just way too deep at forward. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 I think it's funny (not ha-ha funny, but you know) that Camby had that shoe commercial where he said "now they can label me an All-Star" at the end, and now he doesn't make it. Should have waited on the release, I guess. I'm guessing Gasol gets the 2nd center spot, then.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 I think technically (going by the all-star ballots) Gasol is considered a forward. I was thinking Okur would get the center spot. But really, Camby was having a much better year than Yao when he got injured, and they missed almost the same amount of time. I'm not against fan voting, I just wish the fanbase as a whole wasn't so retarded.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 For the reserve spots players can be placed at different positions even if they weren't listed that way on the original all-star ballot. For example, a coach could list Nowitzki or Gasol as a Center if he felt that was the best choice for team.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 Larry Brown just said on Mike & The Mad Dog that he doesn't think Lee will ever be an NBA starter because he has a "lot of deficiencies" at SF. Obviously, the guy is not a wing player, but Coach Brown in his infinite wisdom will let him rot on the bench because he can't just let the guy play the 4 and rebound. OPP MIN PTS TREB AST TO STL BLK 01/30 ATL 29 18 6 1 2 0 0 01/31 LAL 6 2 1 0 0 0 0 02/03 TOR 23 10 6 3 1 0 0 02/05 Did Not Play 02/07 LAC 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 02/08 NJ 8 0 2 0 1 0 0 So the 2 games where he played 20+ minutes he got double figure points and six boards, and gets rewarded with 2 DNP, and two games where he plays garbage minutes. The Knicks will just continue to get worse because he doesn't have a fucking clue what to do.
jwpeer 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 Larry Brown hates young kids. Why do you think he hasn't coached college in forever. I don't think he likes to teach the fundamentals at this stage. He prefers veterans who understand the game at a high level and all he has to do is sit back and do some scheming and keep them all on the same page. Look at how poorly he managed the olympic team. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 See, the roster really isn't that bad. I'd start David Lee, and have Frye come off the bench for now. Instead of adjusting to the player, the players have to adjust to him, which isn't cool. The All-Star Reserves for the East will probably be: Rip, Chauncey, Bosh, Carter, Ben, Pierce, and Kidd. The West will probably be: Allen, Parker, Dirk, Marion, Gasol, Anthony, and Brand.

I get that, but a lot of Knicks fans who supported the Rose trade (unwisely) thought it would mean Lee would get more PT. As it stands, his role will be reduced to nothing as Jalen's playing 35-40 minutes every game and that really helps no one in the long run since the Knicks won't win 30 games this year anyway.
