Guest tony manero Report post Posted February 20, 2006 That is something you shouldn't even joke about. I'm not joking. I've got friends in high places. With that said, there is a chance the trade can fall apart. Here's the latest on what I've heard from my friend: Francis and Turkologu to Houston Odom and George to Orlando McGrady and Swift to Lakers
Guest tony manero Report post Posted February 20, 2006 A preliminary pic was taken on All-Star weekend, introducing the newest Laker (deal still not 100% completed yet, as it can still fall apart at the last moment): http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/56882093.j...3D38EDC8AEC9B7B
Just John 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Well, I suppose if Houston wanted to use the old "take 1 step forward to go 100 steps backwards" philosophy, this would be the way to go. I would be ashamed of the Rockets for accepting this deal. The Rockets need to be trading away everyone BUT McGrady and Swift (and Yao and Head). A T-Mac, Yao, Stromile front court is pretty solid stuff. They just need to get some good young guards, and the team is a contender. I can't even believe the Rockets front office is even considering giving away T-Mac... That's just mind boggling.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 I don't buy that Houston-LA deal at all. I can understand Houston wanting to get rid of Swift's contract, I can even understand them trading McGrady if they get some good young players and picks in return, but for Francis? A guy they basically ran out of town? It makes no sense.

If this falls apart, the Lakers will look to trade Odom to Seattle for Rashard Lewis.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 I figured out the optimal trade for making the Knicks better. Isiah better start working the phones: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...~18~18~18~8~8~8 PS: Toss in the recently acquired Orlando 2007 draft pick, you know, to make it fair for the 2nd to last team in basketball. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Looking at your trade, it's pretty amazing that, as long as the Pistons resign Ben Wallace this summer (and I can't see any reason for them not to, unless he gets an insane max offer from someone), they're going to have that starting 5 for at least another two seasons. Guest tony manero Report post Posted February 21, 2006 I'm hearing it may now be a 4 team trade, so there's a chance THIS scenario may go down: Nuggets get: Mihm expiring contracts (probably George) Magic get: possibly Swift possibly Derek Anderson Rockets get: Francis Odom Lakers get: McGrady K-Mart
Guest Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Ok, stop. There's no chance in hell of that trade ever happening. If that scenario were even to be mentioned, Orlando would get K-Mart. Kupchak couldn't pull off a deal that good for Shaq, why would he be able to pull it off for Odom, Mihm and George?
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 McGrady aint going to the Lakers, dude. lol. seriously if that happens, i'll............... do nothing except make some smartass comment. but its not gonna happen, I call BS.
Guest Report post Posted February 21, 2006 On another note, with this Darko trade, I really like the direction the Magic are headed. Once they trade Francis, it'll be even better. I doubted their pick of Dwight Howard. Not anymore.

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 I'm hearing it may now be a 4 team trade, so there's a chance THIS scenario may go down: Nuggets get: Mihm expiring contracts (probably George) Magic get: possibly Swift possibly Derek Anderson Rockets get: Francis Odom Lakers get: McGrady K-Mart No way this goes down. Why would the Rockets trade away a franchise player they just signed to an extention to get back a guy they wanted to dump because he couldn't play with Yao? This is straight bullshit. T-Mac is going no where. I doubt Odom is going anywhere either. K-Mart might become a Knick, but I doubt that as well. Most of this is speculation and usually teams get cold feet come the 11th hour. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 If any talks were happening with McGrady or any other player of his stature (especially if they were going to the Lakers), we'd all know about it by now. The slightest mention of it would be on either ESPN.com, HoopsHype, RealGM or InsideHoops. I've seen Pierce, Garnett, and even Iverson mentioned as, you know, "could he be traded?", but there have been no actual deals or teams laid out. There hasn't been word one about any rumors involving McGrady, I don't care what your buddies say. In regards to Francis going back to the Rockets, however, the talk began at All-Star weekend saying that there *is* a very slim chance that Francis could go back. DA mentioned it on one of the All-Star shows, and it was met with laughter, so that should tell you how apt it is to actually happen, but it has been mentioned. He'll probably either wind up in Denver or New York, though, with Minnesota and Seattle being outside shots.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Sorry to sound ignorant, but I'm not an AVID follower of NBA, but why is Steve Francis hated?
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 He's a bit of a headcase, who's also a shows off on the court. I don't hate him, but you know people, they want people like Derek Jeter, and then start hating him too. Anyway, I heard that rumor too (McGrady to LA, Odom to Orl, and Francis to Houston), but I also heard that they made up the Francis for Odom stuff (Francis and his agent or Orlando, not sure), so he can go to place he wants to go. I have no idea what's going to happen.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Latrell Sprewell can't feed his kids with how much it costs the Knicks to win a single game. It's a shame that $8.4 million doesn't buy what it used to.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...ncis/index.html A deal is nearing completion, or the Magic wait till Thursday for any better offers.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Getting Jamal Crawford would be a very big step for the Magic. Now if Darko can prove he can play at least a little bit, 2007 is looking pretty good for the Magic.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Whatta crap? When Crawford is a Knick, he's inconsistent, he's crap, he'll never learn, but once he gets traded to the Magic, it's a brilliant move?! Not saying that I disagree, but the double standard these days.
Guest Report post Posted February 21, 2006 No, Jamal Crawford is crap. He'll probably do better than what Francis has done for them.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Not to mention that playing for New York is still the biggest stage in sports, period. Boston and Philly are relatively close, but nothing matches the scrutiny that you are put under the second you sign a contract with a New York team. Just ask Randy Johnson. Considering all the needs that the Magic have, getting Jamal Crawford is a step in the right direction. They need a shooting guard that can score, but not be so selfish as to freeze out their big man. I looked at the Francis/Mobley - McGrady trade with a bit of a jaundiced eye, but a change of scenery was needed for both Francis and McGrady, who had worn out their welcomes in their respective towns. And neither player has really taken their team to the next level. You could make an argument for McGrady, but his chronic injuries kind of cancel out what he has done to this point. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I should point out that everything I post is from ESPN.com, unless otherwise stated. Rumored deal: Nene to Portland for Joel Przybilla and Travis Outlaw
Guest Report post Posted February 22, 2006 So, Denver would be looking to deal Martin? Or would they be shoring up their weak and oft injured front line? I don't know why, but that deal just doesn't make sense to me. It's weird.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Another rumored deal: Darius Miles and Theo Ratliff for Penny Hardaway and a 1st round pick. The Magic also want David Lee, or a 1st rounder added to the deal for Francis. I honestly rather give the 1st rounder than David Lee.
