Ugh, Ace isn't going to go at least for another few weeks... but good lord, is he terrible. And he's not really that cute. Definitely cutest of the male group... but, nothing special.

Ace is a good vocalist, but he's not a good singer. He doesn't have a core to work from, so he wanders when he sings which makes for inconsistency - not just from week to week - but even in the same song. He's tryin to do too many things.

I don't know. I don't see Taylor having a fan base that would vote tons for him now, either... and he's been up near the top most weeks. I figure McPhee will move up, though... as the sensible voters are more spread out as we weed through the people who have no chance of winning.

Don't go crazy yet... that dialidol thing is far from perfect. But, it is somewhat accurate... one of the bottom 4 should be leaving.

Thank god for DVR. Now I can watch a two hour American Idol in about a half hour. Watch the people I like, anything involving Katherine McPhee and whatever Simon says.

It's a good thing that Angle-Plex wasn't a record exec in the 60's and saw Aretha.

That being said, Mandisa isn't the ideal Idol but she can sing. She'd have no less and no more success then Fantasia did.

 

Which is what the show DOESN'T need. Kelly keeps the show credible but with those other winners and runner-ups who managed a career of sorts not doing anything...

Really, who on this season is as marketable? I don't think any of them are. Chris, could survive briefly as a front man for your generic radio rock band (as Fuel, was mentioned eariler) but I wouldn't see him approaching marketability like Kelly.

 

Mandisa would be pigeon-holed, Taylor has no real audience. Same goes for Kevin because his supposed cuteness has a limited shelf-life. The rest aren't worth going over because they probably aren't going to approach that. Ace, is just another good looking kid.

I guess what I'm saying is, it doesn't matter who wins, Mandesa or Katharine because neither would be as big time as Kelly...however, Mandesa is the better of the two. Besides, they can always get Mandesa to drop the weight...if Missy Elliot can do it, so can this gal!

I think that Chris could be marketable if handled properly. He's worlds ahead of everyone else IMO as far as performance goes. Not the best voice, but for his style that doesn't matter all that much. I really liked his version of I Walk The Line.

 

I was disappointed with both Buddy Holly songs. Taylor should have been able to do a better job with that.

 

Kevin has no business being on any stage. I have no idea who votes for him. Ace is terrible too, but at least he's got his looks working for him.

 

Kellie has to be playing a dumb act I've decided at this point. The repeatedly saying "Hey Look at the Pickle" could not just be her being an idiot. I think she has a plan.

As Simon pointed out, Buddy Holly songs are not challenging to sing, and because they're fairly simplistic, you can't mess around with it too much before screwing the song up entirely. Bucky and Taylor would have been better off singing something else.

 

By the way, I find it very suspicious that there were no Elvis songs sung this week.

It was there? Actually, I was negative about his performence last night but that was only because Walk the Line is a favorite song and seeing it changed like that was not pleasant. He actually did a decent job of making it different.
