I've never watched this show before.

 

The Springsteen song was awful. It was just bland and his voice was really straining when he was trying to sing/shout.

 

Over the Rainbow was way overperformed. The Idol contestants are in love with vocal trills that add nothing to the performance but show off their chops. (I just said I've never seen this before but I've seen clips) Her voice was good though. It just had too many dramatic pauses, off tempo pacing etc.

 

"You are so Beautiful" was better than Springsteen but he couldn't really sustain the notes, he sort of trailed off weakly a lot of the time.

 

The third dude...yeah I don't even remember what he sang. He was that good. Brother got soul or something...I remember his intonation was way off on the song Paula chose for him. Randy said something to that effect ("you were sharp") .

Taylor wouldn't need to do a full set going all crazy, just the first song, a middle song, and the end and maybe an encore. In between would be soft songs and ballads. A must would be a black back up singer to help go nuts like the rolling stones have on Gimme Shelter.

I thought it was performed just right, for Kat. The problem is that we're used to hearing it in a musical or a movie, so it had to be rearranged from that. If anything, it provided a stark contrast from Clive's pick, which she Celined like there was no tomorrow.

 

For the record, I had Elliott and Kat about even, but the fact that she was bottom two plus the boobs may give her a slight edge to stay.

I was not overly impressed with anyone last night. I liked Taylor doing "Dancing in the Dark" mainly because I love Springsteen and think the song is fun. "You are So Beautiful" was also solid. I think he's a near lock to win this thing.

 

Now between Kat and Elliot it's a toss up. I think that Kat moves on to the finals based on the love from the judges for Over the Rainbow. I wish she had done the whole thing acapela (sp?). That was when she was really the best on the song. The music took away from it for me. She could have pulled off something similar to Bo Bice's performance that launched him into the finals last year.

 

Elliot had terrible song choices last night. You need to do at least one very recognizable song at this point, and he didn't have that. However, I think that Elliot has the potential to be the best of all three. Hopefully he goes to the finals and gets a chance to prove that.

 

Now, the thing that I really can't believe is that they're streching a 1 minute results show into an hour tonight. Does anyone watch the first 50 minutes of this crap?

I just noticed that the entire season they completely ignored Fantasia. They bring Kelly, Ruben/Clay, Carrie/Bo up constantly but Fantasia doesn't even exist.
