5. ALCOHOL ABUSE

The use and/or abuse of alcohol in such a fashion so as to impair the ability to perform is prohibited by this Policy. Talent are expected to be free of the influence of alcohol when performing for WWE. Accordingly, the use of alcohol at any time twelve hours prior to any scheduled performance is prohibited by this Policy.

(1) Testing for alcohol use or abuse in violation of this Policy shall be for reasonable cause only as defined in Section 7A.

(2) The initial positive test for use and/or abuse of alcohol in violation of this Policy will be treated as a medical issue requiring evaluation for alcohol rehabilitation treatment. All subsequent positive tests for alcohol-related violations of this Policy shall be treated as disciplinary matters in accordance with this Policy.

This shouldn't be hard to pass.

Well, at least the guys can still high.

I remember Waltman talking about how some of the guys would've rarely used painkillers if they could just be stoned 18 hours out of the day.

The new policy is bullshit. I can't believe WWE has the audacity to announce it right before everyone on the roster takes off for another exhausting international tour. It was bad enough when it was just cross-country. But now, because the US no longer cares about WWE, they force their wrestlers to take 10-hour flights three days a week, wrestle four shows, and not take anything to compensate, yet they still have to look like Greek gods because that's the image McMahon wants. I'd seriously quit if I was there.

Good point, Karc. It is hypocritical for WWE to work their guys like they have been with all the traveling, and expect them to not use any drugs at all, even basica pain killers without a prescription or something. I'm not advocating drug use, but being on the road that much has to do no good for the body at any rate.

I'm sorry but WHAT THE HELL?

you bitch that they implement these things to help save lives and hopefully prevent another Eddie Guerrero death because they're going on a hard road trip?

So I guess it's okay to drug it up if you've got a busy road schedule?

That kind of logic just astounds me - have either of you ever worked for the WWE booking team?

I understand they're trying to save lives, and that's a good thing...but if WWE implements these policies without doing anything else to make it so that wrestlers don't practically NEED to turn drugs (like lightening the travel schedule or pushing smaller guys), it's completely hypocritical.

I guess RVD is thanking his lucky stars right about now. I'd be going that same route as WWE though, because it might help things a bit more.

EDIT:

Bob Holly wasn't at this meeting, and was pretty much the only guy who wasn't there.

Hmmm...

Of course they're hypocrites. What'd you expect? The flip side, though, is that we have to take these little victories for worker's safety where we can get them.

Before the over sea tour is the best time to kick start these policies. Everytime they go over sea's someone does something stupid. Eugene was the most recent of the long line of fuck ups.

It's not much of a victory when it's ultimately going to have little if any effect on the problems it's meant to curtail. This program is a good idea in theory, but it won't mean anything in the long term without other problems getting sorted out.

I think that it just depends where you go from here. People have to continue to hound them on how things get done, that they adhere to these policies, that they adapt the schedules, and that they enforce it. If everyone turns their back and says "yessum", than Vince is just going to manipulate the policy and pull strings to get around this type of thing, and ultimately, step right over it. So we have to take this step, stay vocal, and continue to push for what these guys deserve. It's a victory in the short-term, in that something has been done, and things are in motion, but we can't drop the ball either.
