therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2006 I'm a Phillies fan, but I can't see them winning the division. AL East: New York Yankees AL Central: Chicago White Sox AL West: Los Angeles Angels AL Wild Card: Cleveland Indians NL East: Atlanta Braves (At this point, I'll pick them until they lose it) NL Central: St. Louis Cardinals NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers NL Wild Card: Philadelphia Phillies (They'll have a better record than the Mets, for some reason I think the Mets of this year will be just like the 2002 Mets, tons of big names that don't mesh. Phils really need a fast start though unlike the last couple of years.)
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2006 NL Cy Young: Dontrelle Willis, Florida Marlins This one I've heard a lot. I won't rule it out, but he'll have to really shine, since the Marlins aren't going to win 70 games this year. Although, if half of those come from Dontrelle..... EDIT: No, I don't really think he'll win 30-35 games. But 23 or 24? Absolutely.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2006 NL Cy Young: Pedro Martinez, New York Mets; Players on garbage teams shouldn't win awards. Especially one like the Marlins. Somehow I find irony in that statement, following his selection. Before anyone goes "Dood, the Mets RULZ!" I will save you the trouble. No they don't. Guest Report post Posted February 24, 2006 They'll make the playoffs. Guaranteed. Delgado and maybe a better Beltran make a better club. Reyes is improving, and David Wright is a stud. What more can you ask for? They'll be in the shitter in 4 years, but that's not the point.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 They won't make it. I'm willing to bet my account on it. Atlanta or a surprise team will make it over them. I don't even think Delgado will play enough to mean a damn to the club. Beltran was there last year, and how will he be better this year? Thats a legit question. Pedro was also there last year. They had David Wright emerge last year as well as Reyes starting to. They still missed the playoffs.

Just look at Beltran's career numbers, I think that's all you need to see. Wright's going to get better, his progression just doesn't stop once he has one good season. If Delgado plays at all, it'll be more than what they got from 1st base last year. If they got anything from the 1st base position last year, they would have made the playoffs! If they miss the playoffs, it won't be for a lack of wins. They'll have enough. Their bullpen's the only issue. EDIT: I don't need to address Reyes, all he needs to do is fix his OBP problem. They have no problem with making a trade either, hence my point that they'll be in the shitter soon. They have enough to win the Wildcard, not win a round. I guess I'm not the only one who feels they'll be good.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 I'm really surprised at all the love for the Blue Jays. I know they spent a lot of money in the offseason and they should play a legit role in the east, but you're really ready to slot them ahead of the Yankees and Red Sox? How do you figure? I also can't see the Angels winning that division again. They didn't address their needs in the offseason, the Rangers got better and the A's are going to be sick next year. They don't have the offense to compete.
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 the a's might be the best team in the league. and no one is picking them.
Guest Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Toronto's a flavor of the month. It's also based on the fact that if Glaus and Halladay can stay healthy, they look good to me. I could be entirely wrong on that one. Everyone's in love with Vlad and the bad lineup around him. I don't get it.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted February 24, 2006 I also predict A-Rod hits 50 HR's, bats .350, wins the WS and all the jealous boys will still make up reasons to hate him.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Managers that might be on the hot seat? Charlie Manuel is one. If the Phillies don't start fast out of the gate, he might get canned. I thought he was actually pretty lucky to survive the off-season.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Toronto can sneak in there if they stay healthy and either the Yankees face injuries in their lineup or pitching (especially pitching, because Chacon and Aaron Small ain't saving their bacon again), Boston gets hit by injuries again (or if Foulke is a failure again), or they both fall off the table. If all three teams are healthy? Sure, they'll beat up on each other and it'll be a close race, but I see Toronto as WC contenders, not division winners. I also see Cleveland winning the Central. Chicago's pitching is going to cool off and their offense still isn't that potent.

Also, I can see that the Mets are not going to be popular this year. Like, less than usual, even. Sigh.
Mole 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Why is everyone blowing the Yankees? They don't have the pitching to go that deep into the playoffs. AL East Winner: New York Yankees AL Central Winner: Chicago White Sox AL West Winner: Los Angeles Angels AL Wild Card Winner: Clevland Indians NL East Winner: New York Mets NL Central Winner: St. Louis Cardinals NL West Winner: Los Angeles Dodgers NL Wild Card Winner: Atlanta Braves AL: ChiSox over Indians Angels over Yankees ChiSox over Angels NL: Cardinals over Braves Mets over Dodgers Cardinals over Mets WS: ChiSox over Cardinals Yeah, pretty standard picks, but I see it happening all over again. I hope I am wrong and the BoSox make the playoffs, but I don't see that happening.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 It's going to be extremely hard for the Wild Card winner to come out of the AL East because things are going to be so competitive. The Blue Jays, for all they have done, are still only the third best team in the division. The Yanks and Sox will be damn close. Anyone see the potential for the Cardinals to fall off this year? I was almost going to pick against them in the central before realizing there isn't another team that could reasonably win that division (Brewers, maybe?). Guest Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Don't count out the Astros. Not saying they'll be there, not saying they won't. I think A-Rod will have 40 HR's and a .335 BA. That's why the Yanks will be in the WS.
