Guest Smues Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Boo for duke losing, but huzzah UW coming back to beat Arizona and finish 2nd in the Pac-10.
Guest Report post Posted March 5, 2006 I didn't want Duke to lose, because now more people are going to talk about them. Shit.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 If Duke plays like this in the tournament, they'll be lucky to get into the Sweet 16.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 5, 2006 I also didn't want Duke to lose. Because now the ROY WILLIAMS CAN'T WIN 2 TITLES OMG talk will begin. And the terror if the ACC final pits them again.
Mik 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 That's why I'm talking about. Before this season - I said that a win over Duke would make this season a success. Obviously the team exceeded my expectations and might finish the regular season in the Top 10. Absolutely amazing considering they will most likely be the preseason number 1 next year. Â GO HEELS and I'm pretty upset that I'm not on Franklin St. tonight.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Hansborough is a fucking stud. I'd be suprised if he stays any longer than 2 years at UNC. Â Would Duke really only have 3 losses if they played in the Big East this year? I imagine UConn and Nova will be #1 and #2 in the last regular season poll on Monday. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 5, 2006 I'm confident Duke would have had 2 more Big East losses. I assume they'll be #3... but, I'd laugh heartily if Gonzaga or GW would pass them.
Guest Report post Posted March 5, 2006 GW needs Mensah-Bonsu back. Without him, they don't look good enough to warrant a 1 or 2, maybe even a 3.
Guest Smues Report post Posted March 5, 2006 It just occred to me that with this lose by Duke Gonzaga might be ranked ahead of Duke in the polls on Monday. Kill me now.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Duke hasn't played very good basketball in the past 4 games, which might mean a drop of a few spots rather than one or two. They've picked a bad time to play their worst basketball. They didn't play well at all in the Temple and Georgia Tech wins, and then the FSU and UNC losses. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Duke has struggled lately... but, who else could pass them? Texas lost. And I can't see Gonzaga or GW being ahead of them.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 It seems JJ Overredick is running out of gas down the stretch. If he keeps playing like shit Duke will likely be the first 1 seed to lose in the NCAA tourney.

I thought they played alright against Florida State, they just have a hard time against them for whatever reason.  As it stands now: #1's UConn Nova Duke Ohio State if they win out will get this spot, or you can exchange them with Texas  #2's Texas Memphis Gonzaga UNC's stock has vaulted, they've gotta keep playing well  #3's Illinois GW Tennessee I don't like putting Florida right here, but I will  From then on, it's a fuckin crapshoot. Â Probably no one thanks to a couple of top 10 teams losing this week. But the ACC tourney is going to be very important for them. If they win the conference tourney, they'll be fine for the NCAAs. But if they end up getting knocked out in their first or second game, they're really in big trouble.

Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 It's amazing that a team who lost 6 (I believe that's the number. I could be wrong) players to the NBA last year has come back to beat Duke and become a possible contender for the National Title. And if not that, at least a Final Four. Now I know people are gonna say "It's North Carolina!", but they weren't looking good for a few years before Williams came in. Color me impressed.  #3's Illinois GW Tennessee I don't like putting Florida right here, but I will  I know the way they won today was pretty fucked up, and they've lost Mensah-Bonsu but I don't see GW in the 3 position. At the 1 spots, I've got UConn, Duke, Villanova, and Memphis. For the 2's I have Gonzaga, GW, Ohio State, and Illinois.  I'm probably fucking wrong though. SilverPhoenix 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Duke would be sporting a 24 - 6 Record if they were in the Big East, but they're not so there goes that fantasy. Â With that said. I'm very impressed with UNC, I knew they would be getting better as the season ended, but I'm shocked that they're this good. I really feel sorry for the ACC and Division I Ball as a whole if UNC retains their core for 2007. They along with Memphis are probably going to be the best 2 teams in College Ball. My only fear for UNC is them running out of their spark and losing horribly in the ACC Touranment. Escpecially if they do go up aganist Duke again....That game may cause Hansborough to have nightmares. Â My thing is...Redick is pissing away his John Wooden Award to Adam Morrision...He is looking fucking lousy lately, and from what I saw of the UNC game...he's not looking like the player of the year. The last thing that Duke needs is to run into a team like a Pitt, UCLA or Georgetown yet again, and have Redick not shooting well. Only bad things will happen. Â Oh as for Florida...they stand to be the biggest loser of them all. This was a 1 seed going into Janurary, and their tanking job may put them on the 6/7 line. Escpecially if Kentucky beats them. As it stands today, the only SEC team worth a damn is LSU, and even they're first round upset bait on the wrong night.
Guest Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Memphis needs help to get the 1, as does Gonzaga, and Texas. It's entirely possible because teams don't always show up in conference tourneys. I think GW's gonna lose, that's why I'm afraid to pencil them in as a 2. UCLA and Washington are near 3 territory as long as one of the 2's loses and either one of them wins the Pac 10 tournament. However, I think Arizona's going to win the Pac 10 tourney. I wouldn't want to play them.

SilverPhoenix 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 If Duke loses early in the ACC tourney, are they still going to get a #1 bid? Â No way Duke or Uconn lose a One Seed. Nova wins tomorrow, they have theirs in hand too.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 It seems JJ Overredick is running out of gas down the stretch. If he keeps playing like shit Duke will likely be the first 1 seed to lose in the NCAA tourney. Â They are lucky Delaware State missed about 12 lay-ups or they would have been the first #1 to lose LAST year for christ sake. This just feels like the year a #1 goes down. But Duke being that number 1? Sorry, Coach K is good enough for at least a Sweet 16 berth. Â JJ just needs some time off. Guy carried Duke on his back all season, it's not a surprise he's looking mortal now. Teams know how to play him now, just keep someone on him all night long with that being their only assignment. Someone else besides Williams has got to step up like now.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Krzyzewski deserves some of the blame for Duke's troubles as well. He's been playing with pretty much a 7-man rotation this year and they're really starting to wear down.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Watching this on repeat and I'm not entirely sure UNC is playing in this game. I've been watching for 10 minutes and I've heard the name "JJ Reddick" about 250 times. Including the announcers making excuses for him. No wonder people are starting to hate the poor guy. Â Honestly, I can see ALL of the #1 teams losing in the second round. No one really stands out to me as "best in the nation" right now. UCONN looks the closest but even they feel spotty. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 If Duke played UConn's schedule, they'd likely have the exact same record they do now. With the unbalanced schedule, playing in the Big East isn't actually all that tough. UConn only had to play WVU, Pitt, and G'Town once each and WVU was the only one of those on the road. Also, Texas and Memphis were both very tough non-conference tests that Duke passed with flying colors. Â As things stand now, I think UConn's guaranteed a one seed, and Duke and Villanova are each one win away from locking one up (which they should both do with ease.) Memphis should get the last 1 seed, but it will probably go to Ohio State if they win out. Â Here's how I'd seed the top teams at this point. Â 1 seeds: UConn, Duke, Villanova, Memphis 2 seeds: Ohio State, Gonzaga, Texas, Illinois 3 seeds: Tennessee, George Washington, LSU, North Carolina 4 seeds: Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Boston College, UCLA
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 The ESPN hype for Duke/UNC was nauseating. Can't they do it for any other games? But it was cool to see Duke lose 2 straight.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Did I really hear Dickie V say that Duke/UNC was the greatest rivalry in college sports? Maybe college b-ball yes...but if you were going to say something was the greatest it'd have to be one of the football rivalries like tOSU/Michigan.
