Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Prior will have his shoulder that has supposedly been fine this whole time examined. Whew, what a break for the organization that this comes out only after they've broken ticket sale records!
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I picked the Cubs to finish fourth in the Central in an office pool we put together late last week while everyone else had them no worse than third. I'm thinking that's looking pretty smart right now.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 Johnny Damon has shoulder tendinitis and can't play the field for now. Can you imagine if the Yankees paid all that money for a centerfielder who can't play center field at all?
mike546 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 In all honesty would it be that horrific if he DHs the whole season with Crosby playing CF and Bernie actually being a 4th OF? I know that won't happen but its not really a disaster.

mike546 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 There is no way Torre could put Bernie in CF over Crosby right now. I don't care how much those two love each other the entire NY fan base would just go nuts and Torre has enough common sense to do the right thing. Last year was difficult because you can't sit someone making 15 million per year, but hes only making what, one mil per year now? Plus Bernie had been playing in RF during the spring trainings he was in before the WBC. The chances of Damon not playing CF are still low, but if it were to happen Joe can't be THAT stupid to go and put Bernie back in CF.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 It wouldn't be right if neither Mark Prior or Kerry Wood started the season on the DL. It's almost hard to get mad at, anymore. It's just so ridiculously predictable that you can't help but laugh it off.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 ESPN.com reports that the injury Luis Ayala of the Nationals suffered in the WBC will keep him out for the season. It's worth noting that he already had surgery on the elbow before the injury.
Mik 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 Book it now... Nationals will finish in last place behind the Marlins. Everything is a disaster for them, so far. And while it's only spring training, the Marlins prospects are pretty much ALL showing that they can play. I still think the Marlins can hover around .500 while still realizing that's a little optimistic.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I'm realizing that without Prior and Wood, it could be a loooong April. Rusch is our number two guy (so I'm hearing) and he has an ERA of almost 10 this spring. I saw him pitch today and he was getting BLAZED by the White Sox B-Team. They were sure eager to re-sign him, though. Of course, this is the same braintrust that's determined to dump Todd Walker by Opening Day, despite him having a great spring and more appeal than the likes of Mr. Neifi. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I usually do. I know he's not going to give us another 2004, but I still can't figure out why they were so eager to re-sign him to a multi-year deal. Then again, when you have Kerry Wood and Mark Prior in your rotation, I'm sure others look that much more appealing.

To be fair, Rusch took a line drive off the shin that day, so he was clearly not doing his best work. Watch him go to the DL too, giving us a rotation of Zambrano, Maddux, pray for rain. I'm kind of a Rusch apologist, but when I was reading an article on cubs.com and got to "Rusch, the left-hander, penciled in as the No. 2 man," I made some weird audible animalesque noise, like a seal, or peacock. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 His goal is to have two at-bats this season! To be fair, Rusch took a line drive off the shin that day, so he was clearly not doing his best work. Nah, he was getting hit pretty hard right out the gates. I don't think the linedrive even happened until the second or third inning. In his defense, the two doubles to lead off the inning reinforced the idea that the game is indeed one of inches.
