RedJed 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 I THINK joe was going to get daniels down off the X and AJ hit him with a chair and saved Daniels. This was barely on camera, so i couldn't see it, and the announcers made no mention of it. VERY STUPID, if that was in fact what they were trying to pull off. edit: stupid = not showing or mentioning it, the idea for the finish is actually very good. Yeah I dont know if thats what was going on there or not, I'll have to watch the match again via the replay right now. Overall, I thought that was one of the more underwhelming ppvs TNA has done in months. Poor Monte Brown tried but him and Christian just do not gel together. That match hurt both of them. The Ultimate X match was really turning into something and then the finish came out of nowhere. 8 man match had a few promising moments but was ruined by the booking of the match overall. Undercard was dull other than the opener and 4 way with some high points in them. But nothing that you can't get on any other TNA ppv undercard, actually you usually get more out of the undercard than this to be honest. As I said before, everything just seemed filler and/or building up to Lockdown. Would have made for a great extra special Spike TV special but not really worth the $25 here or whatever it is I pay for these. The ending angle, on top of a stale main event, was a paint by numbers boring booking of how to try to get a heel faction some heat, and it didnt really accomplish its goal. Steiner running in made me groan as it all came across as the dying days of WCW, especially with the Goldberg chant. Read on another board that Jarrett might be injured?!! I guess that explains why he did the sitting down guitar shot at the end. Apparently he had to be helped to the back after the ppv.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 13, 2006 I really liked Christian-Brown from the December PPV, I think it was. Shame that people aren't liking this match. Booking looks horrible, as usual with WCW2... but, there's usually at least one or two matches that make the PPV's worthwhile to watch. So, I won't shit on this yet. Guest nosneb Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Felt like I was watching WCW SIN......... Why steiner? he's old and useless no one cares for him. I was expecting Luger, again No one Cares for him, he's useless. Part of me was hoping for the Shockmaster but his time will come again
theintensifier 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Feels like I'm reading something from an eight year old. I'm glad they got the X-title off of Joe. He needs to be pushed to the heavyweight division now.
Magus 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Goddamn this was a shitty show. It's like a really bad episode of Thunder was stretched out to three hours. Jarrett injured? Good, I hope it lasts a while. He's half the reason this show sucked.
Jebus 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Felt like I was watching WCW SIN......... I liked WCW Sin...hell, I really liked all three of the final WCW ppv's in 2001. Geez, people's opinion on tonight's PPV is really polarized.
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Pretty average pay-per-view. The four-way dance was exciting to watch, probably ***3/4 or so and definitely best match of the night. Puma was the weak link of the match (killed the flow at one point by botching a double underhook suplex) but he still had his moments. Suprising stuff from all four guys. Ultimate X had some nifty spots but if that was the blowoff, that was certainly underwhelming. I bought the PPV to see this feud end. I was really curious as to what spots Samoa Joe would take off the ropes. He dropped his fat ass to the mat early on and that was it for him. I wanted to see a fuckin' 360 dragon suplex off the ropes or some shit but it wasn't to be; nothing from the match is going to make any sort of all time highlight reel. The double-team musclebuster was the most ingenious spot of the night even if it didn't look all that much like Joe's musclebuster. And did they really need to pimp Samoa Joe that much after Daniels' victory? I mean, I know Joe's going on to "better things" in TNA, but seriously, the title had just switched hands and Don West was still cramming Joe's unbeaten streak down my throat. Ease up, I'm sure he's not going to be fighting Christian next month. If you didn't see Christian vs. Monty, a match that you could closely compare it to would be Batista vs. Eddie from No Mercy-- dead crowd, not a lot of "high impact" stuff but decent fare. That shit afterwards was terrible though. No thank you, Scott Steiner. Shit like Hoyt vs. Michael Shane and Naturals vs. whoever was pretty rough. Worst match of the night was LAX vs. James Gang by far; Old Man James should have gently kissed Konnan on the forehead after those sad-sack punches. I knew they wouldn't be there going in, but I'm still disappointed that Strong and Aries are suspended and not working shows. For the most part, Ring of Honor gets me interested in the TNA roster-- I wanted to see guys like Joe, Shelley, Lethal and even Abyss tonight. The Truth still continues to be a really entertaining wres performer. I wasn't terribly impressed with the PPV but it was alright, on the level of the last TNA I ordered (Bound for Glory) but better than Royal Rumble. I'm not going to be too negative about TNA knowing that practically all their fans are saying the show was fairly ho-hum, but I'm still not going to tune in to Impact. I'll give TNA another chance somewhere down the line, probably in a few months.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 TNA has found the missing piece of the puzzle... now I must watch Impact each and every week.
spman 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 This was about on par with the average WWE Show. There was some great stuff in the Mid-Card, particularly the Four Way, but the stuff with the Main Event guys was either Atrocious (The Eight Man Tag) or just complely dull and uninteresting (Christian vs Brown) and of course we couldn't go through one whole PPV without our Sprtz Entertainment ending. RedJed 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Just got done reading some feedback from people who ordered this from the Observer site, and some are calling it already ppv of the year candidate and one of the best TNA ppvs they have ever seen? To that all i can say is they must not get many ppvs, especially TNA ones. Rumble and No Way Out was better than this even if you ask me.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted March 13, 2006 I thought it was a good PPV. Lethal/Bentley, Team Canada/Naturals, Ultimate-X & Fatal 4-Way were all watchable. Sting and Steiner showed up, which a lot of people might not like but they're big names. Daniels got the belt off Joe and Christian kept the World title. I thought it was worth the money. Ced 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 I don't know why the thought escaped me until now but, in regards to the Jeff Jarrett injury, he could've been really overselling the Scorpion Deathlock.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 "I'm gonna make you a transitional champ just like your brother was up north" If he really said that, I think that it's funny that TNA is referencing the fact that the WWE brought in Christian as Edge's "brother" even though Vince & Co. stopped acknowledging that years ago. Guest nokia Report post Posted March 13, 2006 PPV was ok, nothing moore - some thoughts; * Lethal-Shelly was a good match with the right winner * International 4 way was THE match of the day !! * Ultimate x was a let down due to Joe's eye injury * With Monty busting out the F5, could Lesnar be comming in? * Scott Steiner is fine by me, but isn't there enough Heels already? Guest Edgehead Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Ok lets see. - Shelley wins, I guess building himself up for an AJ fued. Lethal is good but I don't see anything major for him soon. - Maverick Matt continues to copy his Uncle/Whatever HBK. Only thing he has that HBK does not is a better hairline. - Hoyt is Diesel without the Superstar aura. - Team Canada win after a hockey stick assistance. Original. Eric Young is great. Bobby Roode should go on his own. A1 is just ''there'' - LAX need a different member to Machete. - Bullet Bob does need to wear a singlet again. Leave the bad style to Kip. - Shame Puma lost. Makes me think it was one time deal. Sonjay and Sabin are good. Petey is a crappy heel. - 8 man brawl I have no problem with. Jarrett will never ever leave the Title picture. Rhino is under-rated. 3D/AMW fued should end at Lockdown. - High expectations always when AJ/Joe/Daniels face each other. Nothing was blown but I guess people wanted more time. - Christian and Monty worked hard. Crowd wanted to see Steve Borden so I guess they were saving themselves until then. Christian needs to be given time with the belt (im talking to you Jarrett) and maybe make him fued with Abyss. - Typical TNA brawl to end the show. I would be shocked if they stuck with Steve Borden and not have the Sting gimmick (some people on other boards are saying this is gonna be his new gimmick :s). So the mystery was Scott Steiner. I'm perfectly fine with this choice as I think we will see ''Crazy WCW'' Scott Steiner and not ''Lets bring him to WWE and expose his weaknesses'' Scott Steiner. I look forward to the iMPACT! squash matches. - With the ''Goldberg'' chants and the Samoa Joe interview, I would like to see him come in. - As iMPACT! goes primetime, there is hope that we could have some proper competiton for WWE by the end of this year. haVoc 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 From Dave Meltzer Jeff Jarrett did not suffer a knee injury. He was just entertaining himself trying to work the audience with no storyline reason. Some people feel the need to prove they are smarter than their audience. Why is it bad Jarrett was selling?
Carnival 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 Cuz Meltzer said so. He also can read minds, and knows Jarrett was just trying to work the audience. Also, that quote doesn't sound biased at all. I got a quote for ya. from Carnival Dave Meltzer really doesn't know why Jarrett was acting hurt, nobody has ever done that in wrestling. On a related note, Meltzer fills his news with "smart" comments like that to sway opinions of the reader. Some people feel the need to prove that they can work smarks. Astro101 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 I actually thought Jarrett was just selling when watching the end of the PPV. It was a damn good job too, dragging himself to get into position to hit Borden with the guitar.
Magus 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 JJ not injured? Damn. Its fine if Jarrett was just overselling the leg. It puts over the Scorpion Death Lock and that's GOOD. However, he didn't need to get in his guitar shot afterwards. Jarrett should've limped away after Steiner ambushed Sting. I'll say it again: the fake guitar is the WORST weapon in wrestling history. Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 Well now that I've watched the end of the PPV on YouTube I got to say Who were those people pretending to be Sting & Scott Steiner last night and why can they not even do the signature moves right? In other words the Scorpion Deathlock and the Steiner Recliner have to be two of the shittiest applied moves I've ever had my misfortune to see done by those who supposedly master them. Sting sat way too forward and way too low to make it look like it hurt, he just folded Jarrett's legs upwards and lifted a bit. It didn't even look as painful as a Bostom Crab that actually pulls the legs back WHen did he lose the ability to make the move look like it could even hurt? Cause what I saw was pathetic and Steiner Recliner - a CAmel Clutch right? And how can you fuck that up you ask? Well Sting was on his knees the whole time instead of stretched out so it looks like the back is being affected. But even worse was Steiner standing more or less upright and just holding Sting in a loving headlock type of move instead of anything resembling the camel clutch. Camels everywhere are embarrassed. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 Actually the Recliner has been applied by Steiner standing upright for the last couple years. It's wrong and looks like a lazy chinlock, but he'd been doing it that way for about the last year of his WCW run.
Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 Just saw the ending to this PPV. Way too WCWish. Why not just have Nash beat Christian for the title and have Jarrett/Steiner vs Sting/Nash as the main event program?
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 The video at the start was very good. I liked the opener, but I was surprised that Lethal was beaten clean after they give him a big win last month. I skimmed the next few matches, and skipped the Team Canada vs. Naturals match. The eight-man tag was my MOTN. It started out hot and it would have been a great match but they went about 5-6 minutes too long and it cooled down. I can understand the logic, and somewhat agree, with Jarrett getting the pin, but it still feels like the continuation of a push that should have long since ended. I would have had Killings or Rhino pin one of AMW and set up a fresh program over the tag titles, which the tag division badly needs. The Ultimate X match was ok, but only ok. It felt like it was just getting hot when they had to go home early, and in hindsight it looks clear when it happened. I hope they do have a rematch because I'd like to see all these big spots they had planned. I skipped to the finish of the main event because I didn't really feel like watching Christian against Monty Brown again, and I also knew the real top star of the promotion would have his big angle taking place and I wanted to get that over and done with. The angle at the end with Borden and Steiner got great heat live, and it was a good angle in itself, but the problem is that it's the same thing that helped cool off Goldberg in WCW; he won the World title, but the former champion is still pushed as the main star of the promotion, while the hot new champion was reduced to second tier status. Carnival 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Now that i watch it a second time, i don't think AJ "saved" Daniels. you can't see it, but i think Joe and AJ just kinda collided, i'm not sure. I think if AJ made the save they would make a big deal about it. Also, Jarrett pinning Killings served NO purpose if Killings is getting a push. Why not have Killings pin Jarrett in the tag match? That should have been the finish.
