Chazz 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I know this kind of thing has probably happened to all of us at some point, and for most It Is beyond annoying. What I want to know Is how some people here handle these types of special assholes who feel the need to endlessly talk at a movie theater? I myself don't mind If people talk through the coming attactions, but once the feature presentation starts, shut up! People who I've talked to before on this subject seemed to give out serveral answers. Some of them included: -Ignore them and try to focus on the movie. With the surround sound now a days, it practically drowns them out. -Go and confront the people who are talking and tell them to shut up. (Of course this may not be the best course of action, as it may lead to a verbal/physical altercation.) -Report it to a theater manager/usher/security guard -Ask The Theater Manager for a refund and return at another time. Do any of you fall into these categories? If not, how do you handle It when this particular situation happens?
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Depends on the film. If I'm seeing some piece of shit, and someone wants to crack some jokes... than I see no harm in that. If it's a good film, than I tell them a simple keep it down.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted March 19, 2006 This is like the fifth thread that's been on this board on this topic. Like always, I'm the one talking, and tell anyone who tells me to shut up to go fuck themselves.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I don't go to the theater for 99.999% of the movies I watch. That's how I handle it. However, If I am sitting in front of someone that won't shut up, I sit up as straight as possible, blocking their view.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I usually go with the throwing my head back and belt out "shut the fuck up" (rating pending) and if they want to know who said it then I let them know it was me. And after that? Dunno, never had many problems after. Not to say I'm such an imposing figure that I strike fear in the hearts of men or anything.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I'm with KOAB. If it's a piece of shit and the person wants to crack some jokes about it, MST3K-style (which we're all guilty of)? Let 'em. But if it's a serious movie and they're just yammering away nonchalantly as if the movie wasn't there, I just say "shut up" really loud.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted March 20, 2006 Not especially, but c'mon, who needs advice on dealing with a noisy person in the theater?
dubq 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2006 Similar to what KOAB said. If it's "one of those movies" that warrants a commentary, jokes, etc. than I have no problem with it. If it's something more serious or something that I want to be able to pay attention to then they get the "shut the fuck up" treatment from me. Which is wierd, I must be really touchy because I am almost always the only person in the theatre who'll say something. To add on to that, I hate it when couples bring their kids to movies that kids have no business being at. Especially if they're under 4 years old. When I went to see Land of the Dead, this woman brought HER TWO YEAR OLD CHILD into the theatre with her. The entire crowd burst into a cheer when she was finally asked to leave and she belted out "FUCK YOU!" - Ahh priceless memories.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2006 So what? Under 17 not allowed in without a parent. She was the parent. Granted the kid will have issue, but don't we all? And why was she asked to leave?

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2006 I remember working in the movie theatre right out of high school and there was an incident (this was from the report I read as I was only there for the aftermath of the incident) where 2 girls wouldn't stop talking during a movie and a guy sitting in front of them repeatedly told them to be quiet. After several attempts, the girls told him to shut up and quit bothering them. The guy proceeded to take his medium coke and basically baseball pitched it into one of the girl's chests, splashing cola everywhere. Since Cola got on more than just the girls, people who were splashed got mega fucking pissed and the guy had a couple of people asking him to come outside. Since I was working door that night (basically clean up after a show lets out) and I was one of the more intimidating looking employees, I was to help remove Mr Cola thrower from the building until the police could come while my assistant manager had to issue re-admission tickets and refunds to the splashed viewers. Fun night for all. I have more tales from the movie theatre, but don't have time right now to tell them from work.

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 I don't like to hear constant talking even durring shitty movies. Cause there's someone there that wants to see the movie in peace. The Brother's Grimm would have been the only exception

But if it's a serious movie and they're just yammering away nonchalantly as if the movie wasn't there, I just say "shut up" really loud. I do exactly the same thing. Like when I went to Ultraviolet (uhh....I still can't believe I went) I openly, and loudly made fun of the entire movie, most of the audience was laughing, either with me, or at me, doesn't really matter to me, it was fun regardless. But, when I went to Saving Private Ryan with my Grandfather who was part of the Invasion of Normandy, and rushed beaches like that, I was in the serious mind set of watching a movie, and some jackass was laughing his ass off, and being a really obnoxious asshole. I told him to shut the fuck up, or I was going to beat his fucking ass. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...opic=69720&st=0 Excellent contribution to the thread bub. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Yeah. Perhaps laughing in the theater wholeheartedly during Brokeback Mountain was a bad idea. Though I still say that the movie was fucking awful. Someone's cell phone went off during the Jake Gyenhaal death scene . Perfect timing I thought. I was in the serious mind set of watching a movie, and some jackass was laughing his ass off, and being a really obnoxious asshole. I told him to shut the fuck up, or I was going to beat his fucking ass. Wow, bad ass you are! So why is it okay for you to laugh and make fun of a movie you think is stupid, and not him? Yes I know comparing those two movies is not the best comparison but as YNA said, one movie you think is an absolute dog worth laughing at, is a movie someone else wanted to see. Excellent contribution to the thread bub. Sorry for pointing out that this thread has been done to death.
theintensifier 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Yeah, I'm pretty intense. The movie I was laughing at, talking during wasn't a serious movie. And, everyone was either walking out, or doing the same thing. I always sit up in the very back of the theatre, and I never once noticed someone turn around and give me the "Shut the fuck up !" look. I would have if someone did.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I don't mind running commentary, if it's a small audience size and they are responding to it with laughter. It becomes more intimate and can make a shitty movie more enjoyable. I don't care if someone else wants to talk because I can easily tune people out, but bothering other people just isn't cool. I have seen a few incidents like DA mentioned although not with coke splattered girls but the most interesting one was a few months ago, when myself and a friend of mine took her nephew who was 8 to a kids movie in the afternoon. The theater was empty except for us three, a older couple and a teen couple. Obviously, the teens didn't go to see the movie and that was obvious but they made the mistake of not sitting in the back and sat right in the middle. Normally, I wouldn't have minded (good for them) but there was an eight year old right there, so I felt it was not in good taste but the kid wasn't even aware or just didn't care. The older couple? About mid-way through the movie, they got noticably irritated and the older lady, a classic church going goody two-shoes shouts as they were leaving "YOU OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED!". The rest of us (the eight year old included) just burst into laughter.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Damn Dangerous A. I can understand asking the guy to leave but those whores should've been asked to leave to. Damn sluts. Anyway for some reason at every movie I go to I always end up sitting around the douche bags that have to talk the whole movie. And there's always more of them than me. If there's only one or two I can use my natural hossness to shut them up but most of the time there's like 10 of them in their Abercrombie clothes and trucker hats talking loudly and doing that douche bag laugh. One day I'm just going to stand up and dive over the seat and fight em all. Yeah I'll get my ass kicked but it'll be like one of those comedy fight scenes where the dude just dives into the crowd while yelling something. Perhaps the people watching will see me dive back there and we'll all fall behind the seat and you'll see papers fly in the air and someone jump up and do an elbow drop and someone else try to crawl away and then get dragged back in.......ok I watch too many movies.
