Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 From PWInsider: WWE has announced that William "The Refrigerator" Perry is being inducted into the Celebrity Wing of the Hall Of Fame on April 1. It makes sense since the bulk of Perry's NFL career (pun intended) took place in Chicago for the Bears. Perry was one of the NFL players to compete in the NFL/WWF Battle Royal at WrestleMania 2 at the Rosemont Horizon. WWE has also confirmed what we have been reporting for weeks now. Tony Atlas will be inducted to the Hall Of Fame as well. Now, have at it...

dubq 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Again it has to be said... No LOD??? Is there criteria for "active" wrestlers being included? I mean, Hogan sure, but he's not wrestling every week. Animal, however, is... they'll probably get inducted once he retires.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I doubt LOD will be inducted untill Animal's time in the ring is over. He recently said that he plans to wrestle for two more years, and then become an agent.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I'm still trying to figure out the Blackjacks being inducted over teams like the Samoans or Mr. Fuji & Prof. Tanaka (not to mention LOD but since Animal is still active...). Really, what did the Blackjacks accomplish that merits them being so important, other than their paltry 2 1/2 month WWF Tag title reign? Honest question, please. An AWA DVD is coming out soon ... hence, Sherri, Mean Gene, Verne & the Blackjacks, all of whom have history in the AWA. Well, I think the Blackjacks do, I might be mistaken. Promoter 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I still don't get why Mr. T wasn't inducted with the rest of the Mania 1 roster last year? He was more integral in making Mania a legacy than either Rose or Perry. I do understand the publicity stunt behind Perry and Rose though. I thought they weren't going to induct any more celebrities. Mr. T should be there.

Two more years of Animal wrestling? Jesus Christ. I wonder how many more new versions of L.O.D. we'll have to endure.

I don't recall the Blackjacks ever being AWA World Tag team champs. Lanza was Tag champ in the AWA but not with Mulligan IIRC. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I don't get it either. A case can be made for Jack Mulligan being inducted by himself, but there wasn't a chance that they were going to do that (Jack Lanza was a road agent, or something like that, in WWE in the 90's). I think it's more of an excuse to get Mulligan in there, instead of the overall tag team of The Blackjacks.
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I also think The Wild Samoans, Mr. Fuji & Prof. Tanaka, & The Moondogs should be in the WWE HOF at some point....heck..Capt Lou Albano could induct all of them since he managed them all.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Oh man this sucks. Bill Fralic was AWESOME before the Battle Royal at WM2. If Perry gets in Fralic should be in as well. He totally got what it meant to be a heel. They should have given him a contract. I wonder what he is doing these days.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 For the billionth time, WWE only wants to induct one dead person at most and that person is Eddie, so the Road Warriors will wait. "It makes sense since the bulk of Perry's NFL career (pun intended)" *Hilarious*, PWI. And this is from someone who thought using his last name to make a column title was gold. Heenan, delivers comedy and actually knows Lanza well. JBL, would be forced to break character. Why would a rich self-made man from New York want to spend his time honoring a sleazy texan cowboy? It also reminds people that JBL, was a joke once. They spent alot of time and effort to break away from that perception.
