mfn 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 No way. I hate Rey, I've hated him since he took his mask off in WCW. I hate him even more now that he's acting like he can never take his mask off. He isn't even half the wrestler he used to be.
Guest Human Highlight Reel Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Today? No, Eddie would be champ. Rey would have had the title at some point in the future though.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Maybe Rey wouldn't have the title RIGHT NOW, but there's no doubt in my mind he would've gotten it down the line.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 The more compelling question is: Had Jeff Hardy not been released, would he have won the WWE title by now? If he wasn't so drugged up that he started to botch the most basic of moves and making promos that made less sense than the Warrior on acid? Yes, Jeff would have had the World title. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 The more compelling question is: Had Jeff Hardy not been released, would he have won the WWE title by now? Jeff got extremely sloppy and less crisp in the ring in quite a hurry somewhere between his last Hardcore Title and European Title. He looked unmotivated and careless so I don't think he would've gotten the Title. I would have considered it during his red-hot period, like when he was IC Champ, but the way he's wrestling right now? Not a chance.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Ok... no one was actually supposed to answer that question. It's the same kind of question as the one asked by the original poster, where the answer is so obvious it doesn't need answered...
Just John 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Yes he would. The original plan was for Orton to win but he pissed off managment so they decided to give the belt to Angle. So the combo of Orton being stupid and Eddie passing is what made Angle the champ. But as for the question about Rey, there is no chance in hell he would be the champ if Eddie had not died. Perhaps I should have been more clear. I meant when Batista got injured the first time (the lat injury) that he worked through, not the tricep injury that forced him to the sidelines. If I recall, there was going to be a triple threat with Batista vs. Orton vs. Eddie at the supershow that took place on the day Eddie died. I'm pretty sure they wanted Batista to take time off at that point, but once Eddie died, they almost had to let Batista work through the injury since there was no one else to put the belt on. Orton was still feuding with UT at that point.

Guest burth179 Report post Posted April 14, 2006 I disagree. WWE has absolutely no faith that Rey himself could get over on a world title level. I think there'd be a slight chance they would have given Rey a short, transitional run if roster trouble ensued... but, that's all. Why wouldn't WWE have faith in Rey? All they care about is money, and Rey has the highest rated segments on Smackdown...
