fazzle 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 It's getting so bad that even the local show on ESPN Radio was talking about how much ESPN sucks now. Mentioning specifically the hot dog contest, rock paper scissors championship, and the who's now tourney, saying shit like that is probably the reason that Patrick is leaving, I mean, really, it's only a local show, but when you're getting bashed by your own radio network? ouch. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 Well, I don't see a problem with them doing the stupid filler stuff when nothing is going on. It's when stuff IS going on and they waste time with the stupid stuff that annoys me. Well that and announcing as breaking news that ESPN is now available on cell phones. Nothing like breaking sports news being about yourself. Thank goodness for the bottom line. Then I can just get my score without having to listen to them talk. Slayer 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 Fuck I switched over to the DP show after I got tired of Rome's bullshit and really came to enjoy it... Given the "quality" of the other hosts, I can't say I have much to look forward to in this regard
fazzle 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 Speaking of ESPN: Does anyone else remember that game a few years ago on ESPN.com where you just got 3 random players (in all sports) and you got points based off of their stats, and whoever had the highest score for the day won a prize? They need to bring that back.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 It'll be interesting to see who they get to fill the 1-4 timeslot. I fear that they'll just "promote" Cowshit or Seibel. They seem to love those guys when no one else does. If they were smart they'd pull Kuselias back from that NASCAR show and hand it over to him. He was by far the most entertaining personality outside of Patrick. I wonder how much of this decision was impacted by the Price Is Right thing? How surreal would it be to see Dan F'n Patrick replace Bob Barker? It's easier to imagine Patrick in Barker's place than Rosie O'Donnell. I think he would be a solid replacement. BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 Patrick is an icon of ESPN...only Berman is more synonymous with the four-letter network than Patrick is. I'll miss listening to him. Cowherd is listenable during football season...otherwise he blows. Would they consider perhaps instead of one regular host...maybe doing various hosts? One day you have Stephen A. Smith, maybe the next Bob Ryan, the next John Saunders, etc. Maybe also get other reporters and shit to get in on this also.

Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Hey Woody Paige is back on ATH. I guess he got off on that sexual harassment case. Aren't there rumors that Patrick is going to NBC to do the Olympics and take over the 9 PM timeslot after Keith?

Mik 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2007 Wilbon/LeBetard isn't that much worse then regular PTI in my opinion. Dan, obviously, isn't as good as Tony, but he's an interesting host and he brings something to the table. And he completely owned and destroyed Wilbon in the Ichiro argument today, to boot. (although I disagree with his main point that Ichiro isn't worth it)

I appreciate that you're thinking outside the box, but "whoever's not on coffee break in Bristol during middays" is not an acceptable aspect of your sales kit. You can't have fill-ins as your midday show. Well, you can, because Patrick barely fucking shows up to work in the first place, but it's still The Dan Patrick Show, at least. As I understand it, ESPN Radio affiliates are obligated to carry either Mike & Mike, Cowherd, or Dan Patrick (or 2, or all three) in addition to overnight/weekend programming, lest they lose their affiliate status. It wouldn't surprise me if more stations just picked up Mike & Mike, since sports talk can't win morning drive, and focus on local programming during middays. I can see AM1000 in Chicago just going local from noon to 3, since they have a logjam of in-house talent that isn't getting regular airtime, and Dan Patrick was getting smacked down in the Arbitrons by local talk on 670 (Mike Murphy, an hour of Boers & Bernstein) because national (read: NY/Boston) sports talk has failed in Chicago. Jim Rome doesn't exist in the market.

fazzle 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2007 Even though the whole Who's Now tournament was already retarded, ESPN took it to a whole new level of stupidity when they seeded Danica Patrick HIGHER than Sidney Crosby. Yeah, cause look at all that Patrick has done! Why she's uh......got a vagina! And she.....put that vagina in a really fast car! Meanwhile, all Crosby did was save the fucking Penguins franchise. Yeah, Patrick is a lot more "now" than Crosby.

Yeah, Patrick is a lot more "now" than Crosby. One is hockey and the other is a moderately ok looking driver of a car that should have tons more success but thats ok because she's changing the sport of IRL forever. Or something. Look over there! JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 Crosby is Canadian, and the US is like, 6th best in the sport, and there you have it. Don't blame the United States. Sidney Crosby won the fan vote, he lost because the three "experts" voted against him. "Who's Now" is basically "Who ESPN Likes," so it isn't THAT important.
