*previous story on "Scroby's 1st TSM Rant"*

So on Weds. I found out that the nearby Coca-cola warehouse was holding interviews for Truck Drivers and Merchindisers on Thursday. So after a interview I had with someone on the way back home, I stopped by the warehouse to try and apply. Turned out, if you walked in you were going to be interviewed. So after the receptionist printed up the application I had already filled out over online last month and filling in some blank areas and waiting for half an hour I got a interview. The interview took about 15 minutes and I thought it went well.

After the interview I headed down to my old highschool to go talk to my old drama teacher about trying to get some people on the lighting crew for Rocky Horror Picture Show that I do every Saturday night, we're short handed. Well before actually going in her class, I got a call from a unknown number and so I answered it. It was coke. The receptionist wanted me to bring in a proof of car insurance and I told her I'd be there as soon as possible. So I went and made a copy at where I work now (yes, still at Gamecrazy) and went back. At first I thought I was just going to hand it in and wait to hear back from them but I was told to sit and wait. So after 10 more minutes of sitting and waiting, I was brought back to an office and told to sit down. Turns out they want to try and hire me. All I have to do is wait for a backround check to be done and I have to pass a drug test, which I'm taking today in about an hour in a half and I'm clean so I should be able to pass the test without a problem.

The job is basically this, I use my own car and travel around the Bay Area to certain stores that are given to me on a list each day. I order product for the store that is needed, I help orgainze the areas that sell the products, and somewhat restock certain areas. I start around 12.44 an hour and after 90 days I get bumped up to making around 15 dollars an hour. Since I'm using my own car, coke is going to give me 44 cents for each mile that I drive to cover gas and toll. Its also a union job as well so I can get benefits as well. Which is good because I don't have medical or dental coverage right now. I don't make enough to currently to have myself covered. And if my work shows after awhile, I get promoted and get to drive one of those coca-cola vans you see every once in awhile instead of driving my own car and I get my own route. Basically since I'm first starting out I'm going to be a subsitute merchindiser for a little while. Its a full time job and I was told to expect over time, so thats a plus.

So YAY, no more Gamecrazy, no more stuck in a store full of little kids anymore, no more working with a manager who doesn't konw a thing about the product, and no more dealing with full grown adults who throw little kid fits because they can't get something they want, and yes to finally having a good job, with good pay and good benefits and also a chance to have a career.

Well, you're out of the customer service industry, and you dont have to handle cash, so you did pretty darn well. Congrats man. It sounds like its at least a step up from GameCrazy

I have a friend who drives a Pepsi truck around Atlanta. He's pretty happy, though he says it sucks when its raining. But they get good benefits, and the pay's well enough (something like 35-40k)

Congrats Scroby.

That reminds me, I was looking for the 'jobs' thread the other day, but couldn't find it. If anyone knows where it is or finds it, could they bump it? It's a handy thread to have.

I meant that in the nicest way possible.

I'm just a Pepsi guy.

I know man, I've been around here long enough to tell what people actually mean. :D

Through....Fuck Pepsi.

There is a job thread?

I have a friend over here in SC that has the exact same job. He gets to use a coke van though, so he doesn't get the free gas money perks. Will you end up working the same 80+ hour weeks that he does?

Congrats on liberating yourself of the video game store. I left Gamestop behind last Summer and never looked back.
