Guest NYankees Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Rangers give up a shorthanded goal to make it 4-1 senators. Wow they are a great team. Rangers are in deep trouble unless the Islanders beat the Flyers. Flyers are now up 2-1 over the Islanders.
mike546 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Well if things stay the same the Rangers are going to Buffalo for round one. Can't say I'm dissapointed. Let the Devs and Flyers kill each other. Although we are not going ANYWHERE in the playoffs if this keeps up.
Guest NYankees Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 In terms of the regular season. This has gone from a wet dream for Rangers fans to a nightmare in the span of 2 months.
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 And Heatley gets his 50th. Nice job. Looks like we'll be getting the Lightning, which is the matchup I was hoping for all along.
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 All right, predictions here for these first round matchups: EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose
mike546 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 FUCKING FUCK WE MIGHT BE GOING TO JERSEY. FUCK.
the max Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay - Ottawa in five. (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal - Carolina in six. (3) Philadelphia vs. (6) New Jersey - Philly in seven. (4) Buffalo vs. (5) N.Y. Rangers - Buffalo in five. (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton - Detroit in six. (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado - Dallas in five. (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim - Calgary in six. (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose - San Jose in seven (this will be a very entertaining series.)
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Wouldn't you know, I posted those matchups and Jersey immediately scores twice. Hold the phone...
mike546 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Wait I'm reading on some message boards the Rangers play the Flyers if the Devils win. But I THINK the Rangers would play the Devils, as the Devils have the tiebreaker over the Flyers. Am I right?
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 The Rangers would play the Flyers if this game goes to overtime, regardless of the outcome. EDIT: Or if Jersey wins in regulation, which is what's about to happen. I've switched the matchups above.
Guest NYankees Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Devils just took the lead. WOW. I wish the Rangers played like them.
Guest NYankees Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Rangers vrs Devils in the first round. FUCK!!!!!!
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 OK, let's try that one more time...matchups are now correct. EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose
treble Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Damn, Sportsnet pussied out. They were supposed to have Sean Avery on their studio panel during the playoffs, but there were compaints and they dropped him.
treble Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay - Ottawa in 6 (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal - Carolina in 6 (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers - Devils in 6 (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia - Buffalo in 7 WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton - Detroit in 5 (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado - Dallas in 6 (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim - Calgary in 7 (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose - San Jose in 7
mike546 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay - Ottowa in 4 (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal - Carolina in 6 (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers - I'm going with my heart and saying Rangers in seven. The Devs peaked too early and I just cannot see the Rangers with Rucchin and Rucinsky back not giving the Devs a fight (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia - Phily in 6 WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton - Detroit in 5 (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado -Colorado in 7 (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim - Calgary in 7 (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose - San Jose in 6
Urban Warfare Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay -- Ottawa in 6 (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal -- Montreal in 7 (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers -- Rangers in 6 (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia -- Philadelphia in 6 WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton -- Detroit in 6 (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado -- Dallas in 6 (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim -- Calgary in 7 (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose -- San Jose in 4
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 My picks: Ottawa in 5 Carolina in 5 New Jersey in 6 Buffalo in 7 Detroit in 5 Colorado in 6 Calgary in 6 San Jose in 6
Kismet Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Don't really have predictions, just can't wait to catch as much playoff hockey as I can.Well, and root for Detroit. I hope for many 7 game series and something memorable to happen.
bob_barron Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 So in America, are the playoffs only on OLN?
Guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I've watched all of these teams at least 40 times, so I think I have a great idea of what's going to happen. EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay-Ottawa in 4. Tampa's goaltending sucks. (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal- Carolina in 6. Gerber's solid, Huet and Aebischer won't be. (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers-Jersey in 6, Brodeur will carry this team to the Finals on his back. (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia-Philadelphia in 6. Buffalo is seriously inexperienced. WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton-Detroit in 4. Edmonton's getting rolled over, and Roloson's not good enough to steal a game. (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado-Colorado in 6. Underrated Colorado team, and Theodore's been playing in form since his return. Colorado could go to the conference finals if they didn't have to play Detroit. (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim-Calgary in 5. They will beat Anaheim up. (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose-San Jose in 6. Pond hockey, little defense. Due to recent events, my picks have changed, so I've got it like this... Western Conference Final: Detroit vs San Jose Eastern Conference Final: New Jersey vs. Ottawa Stanley Cup Final: San Jose vs Ottawa In the U.S., the playoffs are on regional sports networks, OLN and NBC during the weekend. Also, the Kings are likely bringing in Dean Lombardi as their GM and President. He and Owen Nolan love each other, so it wouldn't surprise me if Nolan were brought to the Kings.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay - Ottawa in 5 (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal - Carolina in 6 (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers - New Jersey in 7 (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia - Philly in 6 WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton - Detroit in 4 (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado - Dallas in 6 (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim - Calgary in 5 (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose - San Jose in 5
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay - Ottawa in 4 (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal - Carolina in 5 (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers - New York in 7 (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia - Buffalo in 6 WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton - Detroit in 4 (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado - Colorado in 5 (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim - Anaheim in 7 (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose - Nashville in 7
Annabelle Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 new jersey has no offense. the rangers are WAITING to explode. they could sweep the devils. the rangers can & may go all the way this year. pick your playoff drafts wisely. no one is picking any rangers. so stupid. do it, kids.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 BPS who would you want to face, Phili, New York or New Jersey? I would have taken the Rangers in a heartbeat without thinking twice. They are an absolute mess. I REALLY (obviously) didn't want New Jersey. Split the difference and I'll accept our meeting with Philly. I expect to make the second round.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 EAST (1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay - Ottawa in 5 (2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal - Carolina in 6 (3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers - New Jersey in 4 (4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia - Buffalo in 5 WEST (1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton - Detroit in 4 (2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado - Dallas in 5 (3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim - Calgary in 5 (4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose - San Jose in 5
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 The "experts" opver at ESPN.com are picking Tampa in seven.
nl5xsk1 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 EAST Ottawa in 6 (or maybe in 5) Carolina in 7 New Jersey in 5 Philadelphia in 7 - this one was the toughest choice for me. I actually wanted to pick Buffalo, but I'd picked the top 3 seeds already, and really would be surprised to see the top 4 teams all advance. WEST Detroit in 5 (wouldn't be surprised to see a sweep) Dallas in 6 Anaheim in 7 San Jose in 5 (wouldn't be surprised to see a sweep here, either)
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I don't get the Dallas love. Turco is a great regular season goalie but he always chokes during the playoffs. I remember last season when he could not stop the Avs at all.
