What sort of ads do you mean? Previews for other DVD's?

Yeah. Comedy Central DVDs seem to just be loaded with them, and they play when you put the disc in. If they make a DVD, you'll see an ad for it on another of their DVDs.

Transformers would have been an amazingly great film if it wasn't for that 30 minutes of "comedy". There was no reason for the entire scene at the house, it was pointless, it went absolutely nowhere and it ended up feeling like an entire segment that should have been cut.

Just what a Transformers movie needed, TWO piss jokes and a masturbation joke! Thank you Michael Bay and the screenwriters for that section that ruined what could have been a loved movie for me. Dickheads.

Trailer to "Alien vs. Predator 2" is up. Hopefully, it's better than the first one. The director is answering questions on the IMDB boards, and it will be an R movie.

Next to Venture Bros. and Metalocalypse, Frisky Dingo may be the best thing on Adult Swim these days.

Come on, a rapper with an album called "Ballocaust", and this exchange:

"And are you saying you didn't find ANY of this offensive?"

"...well who's to say-"

"Aren't you Jewish?"

"...yes."

Remakes! ARGH!

Twentieth Century Fox has set Keanu Reeves to star in "The Day the Earth Stood Still," its re-imagining of the 1951 Robert Wise-directed sci-fi classic.

Reeves committed over the weekend to play Klaatu, a humanoid alien who arrives on Earth accompanied by an indestructible, heavily armed robot and a warning to world leaders that their continued aggression will lead to annihilation by species watching from afar.

Erwin Stoff is producing, with Scott Derrickson ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose") directing from a script by David Scarpa. Reeves' commitment puts the picture on track for a late fall or early 2008 production start. Studio sees it as a tentpole.

The Klaatu role was originated by Michael Rennie. The 1951 film's premise, a response to the rise of the Cold War after WWII, is being updated, and the film will use advances in visual effects.

It also returns "The Matrix" star to his strong suit in the sci-fi realm and puts him in back-to-back films for Fox. He just completed the David Ayer-directed "The Night Watchman," for Fox Searchlight/Regency about police corruption based on a story by James Ellroy. Forest Whitaker, Chris Evans and Hugh Laurie also star.

I would hardly call sci-fi Keanu's strong suit...he got lucky with the first Matrix but Johnny Nemonic and the other two Matrix movies say hello.

Bill & Ted was pretty fun, though.

Balls of Fury looks terrible.

I talked to my brother on the phone earlier today, and he saw a preview screening of it. He said it sucks really bad.

Didn't mind Balls of Fury at all.

I actually like Johnny Mnemonic, too. It's really weird and partially stupid, but I like the guy who cuts people in half with a laser whip. When being told about the movie before I saw, at that point was when I said "Sold!"

Hells yeah. I like that movie too. Always have. That scene youre talking about is the fuckin best. Plus, Ice T is the shit. I saw that movie laying around in my store for 5 bucks the other week, I should pick it up.

New trailer for Dario Argento's "The Third Mother", the long awaited final chapter of the "Thee Mothers" trilogy. It'll be a part of the Toronto International Film Festival, along with George Romero's "Diary of the Dead."

What is the early word on "Dragon Wars?" I just saw the first commercial I've ever seen for this and am wondering WTF is the deal. Apparently its out on Sept 15. Looks real high budget with nobody actors.

IIRC, it's a Korean monster movie set in Los Angeles that broke all of the Korean box office records.

I rented yesterday "Joyeux Noel" (Merry Christmas), a WWI film in which French, Scottish and German troops have a truce on Christmas Eve. Apparently, it was nominated at the 2005 Cannes Festival but I guess it flew under the radar over here because I don't recall it having a theater release.

It was a great film, a change of pace from the usual war flick. Subtitles haters won't want to see it though because when the French or Germans are amongst themselves, they (surprise surprise) speak their language, not english.

It's gotten mixed reactions so far. I'll probably see it.

I saw "Death Sentence" yesterday, and suprisingly liked it. It's not perfect (Kelly Preston gives a pretty bad performance), but it's better than James Wan's last movie ("Dead Silence") Kevin Bacon does a pretty good job.

Picked up Starbucks Best of SNL 06/07 DVD. Fun little DVD. It is just the special from TV re-hashed, which I personally would've put in some sketches, taken some out, but I enjoy the DVD. It also has some cast commentaries and deleted skits from dress rehearsal among other things, which makes it a fun pickup.

Reading the IMDB board for Disturbia, someone honestly thought they ripped off the episode of the Simpsons with Bart breaking his leg and spying on Flanders, not mentioning Rear Window at all.
