I kinda missed Jazz. ...not as much as I miss Molly, but still.

haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2006 I haven't read through the other 7 pages of the thread, but has there been any word on the guys being allowed to exhibit the balls-out full-speed-ahead style of ECW, or will they be forced to work the WWE-style of Hardcore matches (cookie sheets and trashcans for everyone!)? Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2006 Well from the looks of things it looks like the new ECW will be like the Hardcore days of the Attitude WWF with lots of garbage wrestling because I doubt they'll be chokeslamming people through stacked tables or having scaffold matches. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Will RVD leave the Raw brand completley to wrestle in ECW full time? It would suck if the only way to see RVD would be on an internet show.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I always thought Balls Mahoney was underrated. Good garbage wrestler, and suprisingly capable with someone who can carry him in the ring.
GreatWhiteNope 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Works for me, as there has never been a good scaffold match. That Rock N' Roll Express-Midnight Express match from NWA in the late 1980s was pretty good.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I am suprised they are even advertising it as "ECW has signed...." I mean itsn't it supposed to be somewhat of a suprise that ECW is coming back, or was it advertised on WWE.com already? I mean I thought ECW coming back was going to be a direct result of ONS(in Kayfabe land)....so why are they already acting like ECW is open for business? NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Hopefully the "ECW" return is successfull enough as to where eventually they get their day of tv tapings....maybe then they could get the smaller ring as well which is really better for that style of wrestling. Smaller ring, tighter ropes.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I always thought Balls Mahoney was underrated. Good garbage wrestler, and suprisingly capable with someone who can carry him in the ring. "Good garbage wrestler"? That doesn't even make sense. Someone doesn't need to be talented to put on "garbage" matches. A performer without talent is hardly someone I would consider "good" or a "wrestler". So, Balls Mahoney is simply a person that brings that same type of talent to the table that any homeless guy on the street could. The new ECW would be better off without him. While anyone can hit someone else with a chair or blade, it takes talent to put on a good 'garbage' style match. Like them or not, there is a psychology to garbage matches, as there is to any kind of wrestling match, and not just any 'homeless guy' could do it.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 --Although the 6/7 USA Network special in Dayton is designed to get the ECW brand going, it is being advertised locally as a special Wednesday Night Raw, and all of the promotion is around the main Raw names like HHH, Edge, Cena, etc. appearing. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 On WOL tonight, Dave said that the plan was always for John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam, and while it's possible it could change, he doesn't think it likely. Also, Van Dam was never originally planned to go over. Dave says that WWE don't want Van Dam beating Cena, and he thinks the only way they can go is with some sort of disputed finish as a way to begin the revival of ECW. CM Punk? Jerry Lawler? Sabu? It would need to be someone who hates ECW with a passion, that wouldn't be an WWE guy and would be a name. CM Punk would be great because he would follow that up with a killer promo but the fans won't know who he is and the effect is lost.
