Lesnar/WWE settle lawsuit

by Dave Meltzer

[email protected]

Brock Lesnar and WWE have reached a settlement agreement on the non-compete lawsuit.

Lesnar was looking to get out of his non-compete for anything related to sports entertainment as well as ultimate fighting through the year 2010, world wide.

Terms were not announced. Lesnar will be able to participate in wrestling and ultimate fighting with certain agreed upon restrictions, as it was not a full victory to Lesnar. While not stated, it is believed he would not be allowed to work for TNA. Lesnar is said to be considering doing MMA, now that he is legally able.

**SIGH**

...and this whole time, I thought the point was so Brock could go to TNA if he wanted too.

I think that Brock just wanted the chance to make money other than having to deal with WWE.

He's still young enough that with a year or more of training, could become a hell of an MMA fighter.

Not that I expect him to, but what are the rulings for Brock to do Indy bookings?

The details of the settlement haven't been released yet. I would imagine, however, that he'll be blocked from working for most North American promotions (as far as pro wrestling goes).

He seems to be definitely blocked from entering TNA...not that it'll bother him much, because there's no way they'd match what New Japan is paying him and his theme music would most likely suck. Besides, they blew all their milk money on Sting.

I know I wouldn't want to be locked inside an octagon with him.

Or probably any other shape, for that matter.

I know that if I was a wrestler, my first thought would be the money. My second would be what kind of theme music I got. Yup.

I think Brock in MMA would be like Bob Sapp with wrestling skill, not technically terribly sound boxing but with a lot of power

Glad to hear Brock for the most part got things worked out for him although I can totally see Vince getting back at him by coming out with "The Self-Destruction of Brock Lesnar" DVD or something like that.

Keep in mind, Brock is a former NCAA wrestling champion. He'd be far from clueless in the Octagon.

Brock could be a HUGE star in Pride FC in Japan. They like their wrestlers competing in MMA. Naoya Ogawa is like a god over there, in Pride.

Yeah, Japan loves the cross-over appeal in their wrestling. Brock would fair a hell of a lot better than Goldberg who IIRC was talking about fighting UFC. I guess getting owned by Jericho backstage changed that.

Or he could end up as the next Mark Kerr.
