NCAA Football 07

Recommended Posts

I started prestige at cupcake, modified the roster to balanced. So it wasn't a pushover team to start with. I treated it just like a real Canadian team getting chance to play in the NCAA.

I'm currently running a 3-4 defense (well, its 3-3-5, but I'm switching that to 3-4 since I run most 3-4 plays) with Clemson's playbook (the team I took out). The playbook fits me like a glove, so I'm quite happy about that.

The best team I've played against is Ohio State. They've worked me like a fucking slave.

Great... So Ohio State is supposed to be that tough, eh? I haven't played them at all yet, so I shall hope it is a good game.

Shall be intesting to see how the #3 team for Year 2 stacks up against me the #1 team. I'm expecting a grueling war.

Although, I'm still wondering how in the hell Penn State gets the #2 ranking.

That's a fine job recruiting then.

Middle of the road is comparable to like the lower 1A teams.

I play Balanced Pass offense, with Multiple defense. It works well. Has a lot of shotgun formations, which I like to use.

I used my coaching style as a pitch to many players and they seem to like it. That and having 6/6 for academics I think also helps my cause. Yes, Canadian teams automatically get 6* for academics it seems.

I'm actually disappointed with my recruiting to be honest. I didn't really upgrade at any position and my pickups haven't really made much of an impact. Not one of them is a capable starter and most aren't really gonna be starting anytime soon.

I'm more worried about this because this upcoming season I just know I'll have even more of a turn over with guys leaving for the pro-draft again. Hell, my Heisman winning WR, Danny Sanders, for sure is probably leaving and I don't think I can convince him to return. My starting QB, Tupea, is leaving as well due to graduation. And the replacements for both men don't make me feel comfortable, especially when I red-shirted 3 players on WR because they are seniors.

Cupcakes automatically start with 6 academics. It will go down as your team improves. It probably has already.

And it does help for recruiting.

I suggest letting your guys go. At this point, you should be easily able to recruit top 5* star players to replace whoever you have. And you'll need the space for them.

The frequency of unsportsman-like penalties is really starting to piss me off. It nearly cost me a game earlier today. Changing the slider didn't do anything either.

Actually, my academics is still a 6, even though my program is now a 2.

I'd let Sanders and Hunter (HB) go except I depend on them so much. Especially Sanders, because he's my Steve Smith (although better).

You can easily get around this by skipping over the animation sequences for it. It helps, trust me. I just do it automatically now if I know which players are showboaters.

Bah, I didn't mean to double post, I meant to edit my original one... Bah...

I skip over every positive animation. Those 15 yarders are a real bitch. Especially if it's after a turnover, and you get stuck with 1st and 25.

They also go the other way, though... so it is fair.

Just played a very fun 24-20 win over Bethune-Cookman. I'm loving this game so much. 3-4 now. I'm hoping I can get to 6-5 and sneak into a bowl. Where I'd lose 120-0 to any respectable 1A team.

Also, a silly glitch I found if you want to cheese. If you recover an onside kick before it crosses 10 yards twice... the receiving team gets the ball at their OWN ~30-35 yard line. So, there's almost no penalty for attempting to get the ball back. And, if you're a pathetic team with a horrible kicker, it's the best way to get field position.

Well, I'm not sure how well this dynasty's going to work for me. Playing as Louisville, my second game was against Temple. I was down 24-10 with under a minute left in the game and no timeouts remaining. Got downfield for a TD, recovered an onside kick, and then scored the tying touchdown with 0:07 remaining. (For some reason this only swung the momentum to even, I'd qualify that as a glitch.)

Anyway, I lose the coin toss going into OT so I have to go on offense first. I pass it down to the 3 where I have first and goal. A goal line running play is stopped for a loss of two, and then on second down, I throw to my receiver offscreen who looked like he was uncovered, but actually had a corner right on him to pick the ball. Temple goes about ten yards forward, and then kicks the winning field goal on first down before I can even take the ball away.

Sooooo infuriating. To make that kind of comeback and then still lose. Anyway, I don't know how much longer I can continue this Louisville dynasty if I can't even beat Temple. I'll probably go 1-10 or something and get fired at the end of the year before I even get the chance to see the fruits of any recruiting efforts.

If you get fired, just go get hired by another team.

BTW, no the momentum being even isn't a glitch. If they've had momentum for that long, they can build up on it. I don't think EA created a ceiling for how much momentum a team can earn. So its actually broken in that regards.

Reason I say this is because during my first year when I played GT and had to come from a 24-0 with 2 minutes to go in the first half (24-7 at half) deficit to win 35-30, I never got the momentum back until I actually passed GT with the winning TD.

Yeah, it seems you can only take the momentum advantage when you take the lead in the game... except for some very rare occurances, and those only usually happen for the CPU.

Getting hired by another team isn't great, though... 1) All the preseason recruiting you did is gone, 2) You can only get hired by a worse team, and that's usually the worst of 1A, 3) If you can't win a game with Louisville in Heisman mode, he sure as hell won't with Duke. Might as well start over.

Well I'm currently 4-0 but because I had a game against Boston College that I didn't win decisively, I lost my #1 overall ranking to the Volunteers of Tennesse.

I beat up the #3 and #2 at the time, yet I have problems with unranked teams. Why does this figure so much?!

I'm so gonna beat up on #25 Wake Forest and reclaim my #1 ranking the following week (6). Gr...

I'm 4-5 now, and moved up to 109th in the country! #1 will take a while. :)

for whatever reason, I'm not able to hot route any receiver before the snap in this game and I can't figure out why.

I just finished my first season with Troy state. Lost one game to Nebraska 48-21. Besides that it was an ass kicking good time the rest of the way. I managed to pull the number one QB in the nation (he happend to be from alabama which game me a extra kick) with the in season recruiting and the number one corner. The rest of my recuriting class sucked all to be damned. But the freshman QB has a speed rating of 87, and a damn good arm so I am kicking the shit out of people now. Plus, if you go to 5 wide, there is this one passing play that is virtually unstoppable if you have a fast QB.

I don't get why you guys are having a hard time timing jumps. I get them like every time...of course I jump off sides about 8 time a game when they fake me out, but just watch the freakin ball and hit the button.

Yeah, that's one thing that I'm pretty good at too. If I actually get a D-lineman before the play, I get the jump close to half the time. However, since you can't switch players in both directions pre-snap, if I have to move my safeties or linebackers up, they usually get the play off before I can switch. Oh, and what's really annoying is when you get the jump perfectly, go in for what looks like an automatic sack with your hulking DE, and then get stiff-armed to the ground by some skinny white QB who follows up by throwing a TD.

As for the Dynasty, I forgot to save, so I took one more shot at Temple. I was down two scores in the fourth again, got first and goal on the one, and scored a TD only to get it reversed on challenge, (WTF! They don't have challenges in college football this year, do they?), got stopped three more plays, and then when I blitzed looking for a safety the next play, gave up 100-yd TD.

Anyway, I'm officially done with the Louisville dynasty, so I think I'm going to start a new dynasty with Georgia Tech on All-American. Running the option with Reggie Ball kind of intrigues me, and if I change Samford to Stanford, the schedule shouldn't be too easy. Plus, they're my favorite team, so that's a bonus.

Getting great jumps are really easy, I don't see why people are having issues. The only time I don't are when I can't change to my D-Lineman quick enough, like iggy says.

I'm 5-5 now in my 1st year with Alaska. 63-7 win over Alabama St. I'm not sure why this game was so easy, every time I ran, it was at least a 5 yard gain.

But, a big positive is that I signed some 3-star QB with 4.39 speed. I'm guessing that has to be at least in the 85 speed range. He'll be my little Randall Cunningham next year. Except he's white. And 6'5.

I really need to get this game.

I never lose at sports games unless it's a close loss. I discover if I'm getting blown out then I get incredibly annoyed and turn the game off.

Dama, you have a temper. I'd never have guessed.

4-6 now. A really annoying 73-38 loss to Columbia. When the momentum meter goes all the way against an opponent who always passes, it's not pretty.

One more game I'll probably lose.

I want to recruit. Boo.

Don't you mean 5-6? Cause I'm quite sure you 5-5 last you talk.

BTW, during in season recruiting, just aim for 3-4 players. Don't try going all out. Its something I figured out when I was doing recruiting in my second year. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play #25 Wake Forest who's 4-0 and see if I can keep my winning streak alive.

Yes, 5-6. :P I got mixed up thinking I had 11 games, instead of 12 this season. Blah.

I've done the same with in-season recruiting. Only targeting Four 3* guys. I figured since my team blows this year, I couldn't get many good players. And I'm the top team so far with all 4 players. Hopefully I get them all. Because I need some talent.

My strategy this upcoming off-season is to just get 25 starting bodies. Even 1* star players are better than all the 40-48 rated shit I have now.

What level are you guys playing on, some people seem to be having tons of trouble/playing joke schedules and still losing. Are you guys playing on Heisman or do that many of you just suck really bad at this game

All-American.

You try playing as a created cupcake team against even the worst 1AA teams with some 80+ players. It's not easy. :)

I haven't played much against the CPU in this game, but i was easily able to just handle Michigan in the the first half of a game with my newly created University of Detroit Titans cupcake team. I'm up 28-3 at the half right now
