BTW, even though I'm a Cardinals fan and they're an divisional rival, I've got to admit that it's nice to see the Reds pull away with a nice moment of their own for once. Maybe it's slanted perception from only seeing a few Cincinnati games a year, but it just seemed like they were the team that was always on the bad end of the walk-off hit.

Because nobody has mentioned it....

The Brewers struck out 16 times today, 13 of them courtesy of Jake Peavy.

Yeah truth be told, if the Cubs aren't gonna do it (hahaha), I'd like to see the Reds come away with the division crown, if for no other reason than some new blood in the postseason. That and they have the offensive blueprint I can only dare to dream the Cubs some follow.

Just watched the Sox/Yanks game on TiVo and that Matsui injury was nasty. You could tell it was at the very least fractured right after it happened. Wrists don't bend that way without something breaking.

I hate having to watch the YES network's coverage. I didn't need to see Bubba Crosby jump straight up in the air on the warning track (for a ball he could have camped under) about 30 different times from every different angle and hear about how he "Robbed Lowell and the Red Sox of a homer with a tremendous play". If he doesn't catch it then at the very most it bounces off the wall. Damon did take a homer away from Mirabelli though. That was a damn nice catch.

when Yankees fans finally realise that Jeter has the range of a pregnant woman in her third trimester it'll be a glorious day. Orlando Cabrera should have won the Gold Glove last season and Tejada should have won in 04. ESPN's over-hyping of Jeter making average plays look tremendous with his showboat antics over shadows the fact that he doesn't have the range to make the really tough plays.

Guest Felonies!

Let's get Jeter and Jim Edmonds on the same team. They sell better than half the WWE roster.

That Sutcliffe stuff was funny.

We (Cincy) should've won that in the bottom of the 9th. Phillips on 3rd with 1 out and we couldn't find a way to push him over. Thank God for Jr. Hope he can stay around for 2 months at least this season. Just get us into August in the race.

Hope Milton comes back soon cause Arroyo and Harrang can't bail this club out with their starts forever. We should see if we can get a decent starter for either LaRue or Valentin. Things will be nicer when Aurillia gets off DL too.

Still go Reds (might go to the Phillies game Sat.)

I always question if an out is worth losing a player for at least 15 games. Especially early in the game.

Rowand's catch saved the game. It would've allowed three runs, and the Mets would've won the game. Really, it was a fluky injury. If that metal piece of the fence is at any other height, Rowand isn't hurt nearly as bad.

We'll have Victorino in the meantime, whose range is almost as good, and whose arm is one of the best in baseball.

Hideki Matsui will miss three months. Between MLB and Japan, he had appeared in 1,700+ consecutive games.

Actually, the game wouldn't have been official since they never got to the bottom of the 5th.

And my boss mentioned something about the Phillies having padding for the fence, but were just waiting for the Phillies to be on the road before installing it. D'oh!

And if you missed the Rowand catch, there's a video up on the Phillies website.

It's probably worth noting that Billy Wagner never pitched in his return to Citizens Bank Park. He could've pitched on Tuesday, but you don't want your ace (left handed) reliever pitching to one of the games premier lefties with a tie game and the bases loaded in the game. After all, you might need him for a save situation!

Yes they did. Even Trachsel's additional stalling, on top of his sluggish pitching pace to begin with, wasn't enough to keep the bottom of the 5th from finishing.

And I'm bitter about the Mets/Phillies series. A loss on Tuesday night that only happened because of Lo Duca and Heilman's mental errors. And a loss on Thursday night because of a rain-shortened five inning game. Not good.

That was the bottom of the 4th. The Mets batted in the top of the 5th, then the rain came, then the game was called.

That was a fucking headscratcher for me as well. The idea that a "CLOSER" can't get the biggest out in a game he can't get a save in is pissing me off.

Based on rumblings from Mike and the Mad Dog, the Yankees might just be looking to acquire Bobby Abreu to replace one of their corner outfielders since Sheffield may be injured more seriously than first thought.

Buster Olney, resident Yankee dick sucker, mentioned the same thing in his blog today. Do the Yankees have even have the pieces to make a deal for Abreu? I doubt the Phillies would unload one of the best corner outfielders in the majors this early in the year without getting something really good in return. I think it's just the Yankee fan mentality of thinking they can get whoever they want, whenever they want.

I hope today's game gets rained out. Lineups like this make me thing there are some credibility to claims Dusty's trying to lose:

. J Pierre, CF .232

2. N Perez, 2B .185

3. R Cedeno, SS .300

4. A Ramirez, 3B .217

5. M Barrett, C .292

6. J Mabry, 1B .220

7. M Murton, LF .278

8. J Hairston Jr., RF .259

9. A Guzman, P .000

I'm still trying to figure out why Murton isn't batting second. If Neifi's gotta be in the lineup, how bout not putting him in such a prominent spot? God, I hate Baker.

Apparently the Phillies are down on Abreu and were said to be willing to ship him off for two marginal prospects, no mention of Wang, Cano or that Hughes kid. It's a fucking joke that the Yankees can just absorb everyone else's bad contracts and ship 'em a bag of balls and some bats in return.

Why do so many people hate Abreu? If he's dealt for two MARGINAL prospects, I'll break something. It will show there's no justice in the world that he can be traded for that and Jacque Jones can get a three-year deal for $16 million.

That seems fishy to me. During the offseason, Abreu was being mentioned in deals for Prior and Manny Ramirez. Two marginal prospects should not net a talent like Abreu no matter how much money he makes. I don't understand Philly being down on the guy.

I always take Yankee rumors with a grain of salt, but if Sheffield and Matsui are both out for months, I wouldn't be shocked to see them net Abreu for next to nothing just because they're the Yankees. The only other options that even make any kind of sense are guys that can't hit (Hunter, Stewart), aren't big enough names for Da Bronx (one of the surplus Reds not named Junior), or are getting old and could end up spending time on the DL (Junior).

Aaron Rowand is now on the DL thanks to a broken nose and fractured eye socket. I don't think a catch that wins one game is worth missing at least 15 days, but fortunately I'm not Aaron Rowand.
