How about Nick Anderson in Game 1 of the '95 Finals.

I know he missed the foul shots, but where they airballs or bricks? I can't remember, but that moment pretty much killed the Magic franchise for quite some time, so good example.

There are rumors floating that the Pistons will attempt to do a sign and trade with Wallace to Toronto for Charlie Villanueva. Doubt we see it, but an interesting possibility nonetheless.

id faint if that happened...if we got any talented big man a decade younger than ben id be very happy..hes about to be 32 and his skills are really diminishing..any team that gives him more than 3 years is really running a risk

while it would suck just from a general standpoint to see Ben in another jersey, i wouldn't hate this deal at all.

Personally, Rasheed has been on my shitlist these playoffs, he lays egg after egg, then has 1 good game, followed by 4 more eggs. He refuses to play consistently in the post hes no longer versatile, he's a tall 2 guard. Wouldnt be so bad if Ben had offense, but Ben doesn't which means no low post threats at all. not to mention his incessant whining. I've grown sick of his bullshit.

I wonder if Isiah is interested in Sheed, i'd support a Sheed for Frye + another decent player (like crawford or q-rich, and before knicks fans ask why oh why the knicks would go older and give up their best prospect, i say, hey its isiah, it doesnt have to make a lot of sense, rasheed is a 'name' who gets along well with larry brown. hell he'd probably toss in a 1st round pick just for the hell of it).

all in all though i'm in favor of dumping one of the wallaces for something good.

If Channing Frye wasn't given up for Artest or Odom, I think we'll pass up on Sheed.

Interesting trade for Villanueva there.

Doubt the Raptors would trade Charlie V.

The PF/SF combo of Bosh and Villanueva will be deadly. They should sign a free agent like Nene or Nazr Mohammed and have him play C, and then trade down and draft Marcus Williams.

Here's my latest NBA Draft Machine I assembled: (I anticipate flaming from more qualified posters! :D )

1. Toronto - Andrea Bargnani PF Italy (Barring a trade-down, no PG is worth the #1 pick, if they want him take him.)

2. Chicago - Tyrus Thomas PF LSU (I'm not sold he'll be better than Aldridge, or he'll be the same player, I think Chicago will like him better.)

3. Charlotte - Brandon Roy SG Washington (I think he'll be a GREAT NBA player, and would be a great fit for the Bobcats, although maybe not the best available.)

4. Portland - Adam Morrison SF Gonzaga (Local ties, plus not giving up/not being able to move Randolph's contract puts Morrison right here.)

5. Atlanta - LaMarcus Aldridge PF Texas (I'm not sure he'll be a star, he could be, plus with Harrington's free agency this could be a great pick.)

6. Minnesota - Rudy Gay SF UConn (Without knowing what KG will do puts the pick in doubt, but Gay is the best available.)

7. Boston - Shawne Williams SF Memphis (First real reach of the draft, but I do not believe that Boston is in love with Wally S., plus Williams' versatility is good at #7. Boston could look for a different Williams at this spot.)

8. Houston - Randy Foye SG Villanova (Houston needs a better shooter at the guard spot and I think Foye is the best available here.)

9. Golden State - Patrick O'Bryant C Bradley (I'm not sold on O'Bryant, but this pick isn't bad for Golden State, who seems to have a plethora of decent lottery picks at most positions.)

10. Seattle - Marcus Williams PG UConn (I don't think Seattle has given up on Ridnour, but Williams is too good to pass up at #10.)

11. Orlando - Rodney Carney SF Memphis (Not really sure with this pick, Orlando seems to have only one great player, and a few good ones.)

12. New Orleans/OK City - Tiago Splitter PF Brazil (Another pick that could go either way, and they could package their two picks to move up.)

13. Philadelphia - Rajon Rondo PG Kentucky (He is rising up draft boards and Philly could use new blood at the point.)

14. Utah - Ronnie Brewer SG Arkansas (Great natural athlete, I believe it will come down to him or Redick.)

15. New Orleans/OK City - Hilton Armstrong C UConn (P.J. Brown can't start at #5 forever can he?)

16. Chicago - J.J. Redick SG Duke (I think they take him solely on the fact they try to package some of their guards to get a priemer big man, but we'll see.)

17. Indiana - Kyle Lowry PG Villanova (The Pacers could go many different directions here, and this pick probably depends on Peja's future.)

18. Washington - Cedric Simmons PF NC State (I'm not sure how successful he becomes at the next level, but he adds some strength down low for the Wizards.)

19. Sacramento - Shannon Brown SG Michigan State (This guy is flying up draft boards and I think Sacto could go many ways.)

20. New York - Shelden Williams PF Duke (I have no idea what the Knicks have planned, and I mean that with no spite. I still believe Shelden can be a decent pro.)

21. Phoenix - Mouhamed Maer Sene C Senegal (Good team, two first round picks, roll the dice Phoenix.)

22. New Jersey - Olexsiy Pecherov PF Ukraine (This pick could get stored away in Europe for awhile.)

23. New Jersey - Mardy Collins PG Temple (I think it's either Collins or Farmar here, I'll take the bigger PG.)

24. Memphis - Quincy Douby SG Memphis (Boom or bust prospect with great individual skills.)

25. Cleveland - Jordan Farmar PG UCLA (This could be a GREAT pick for Cleveland as an eventual replacement for Eric Snow.)

26. LA Lakers - Maurice Ager SG Michigan State (Kobe is big enough to have Ager out there as a SG. Ideally a good PG would fall to the Lakers here as I feel Smush's days are numbered in LA.)

27. Phoenix - Alexander Johnson PF Florida State (I think Phoenix could go smaller here, but I think he is best available. As a second 1st rounder, the Suns could pakage or just select a foreinger under contract for '06.)

28. Dallas - Leon Powe PF California An upgrade over KVH as a backup to Dirk Nowitzki.

29. New York - Aaron Gray C Pittsburgh (Once again, I'm not sure what the Knicks do, but stockpiling a seven footer might not be a bad idea.)

30. Portland - Josh Boone C UConn (The two Portland picks interest me, mostly because they need so much and they have a new GM, who may not be in love with their recent draft picks.)

I like that board.

O'Bryant may be too high and Redick a little too low, but that's better than I can do. Thing I'm most worried about is that the Lakers could draft Kevin Pittsnogle.

They also worked out Brandon Roy, so they will be looking to move up.

I think O'Bryant busts out too, but I really have no idea what Golden State does, they bother me so much. They have talented individuals, but can never turn it into a team that is better than #10 in the West.

Are the Lakers interested in Pittsnogle? That'd be an interesting fit, and maybe not good interesting.......

Kupchak is a shitty, shitty draft guy.

Yes, he's interested in Pittsnogle and Roy, as well as this Chinese SG named Sun Yue in the second round that I know nothing about. He'd never be able to pull a trade for Roy, and if he did, the world would be near it's end.

GS should just trade the pick.

The Bobcats must draft a scorer.

Sources: Kings hire Musselman as Adelman's replacement

By GREG BEACHAM, AP Sports Writer

SACRAMENTO (AP) -- The Sacramento Kings hired Memphis Grizzlies assistant Eric Musselman on Friday as their new head coach, two people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

Musselman coached the Golden State Warriors from 2002-04 and had emerged as a leading candidate to replace Rick Adelman in Sacramento. He'd had a second interview this week with the Maloof family, which owns the team, at the family's casino in Las Vegas.

The Kings planned a news conference Saturday to announce the deal, according to the two people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because final details of the contract were still being worked out.

The Kings parted ways May 9 with Adelman, who won 395 games in eight consecutive winning seasons in Sacramento. The Kings, who lost to San Antonio in the first round of the playoffs, had the NBA's only coaching vacancy.

The Kings also interviewed Golden State assistant Mario Elie and Sacramento Monarchs coach John Whisenant for the job.

Musselman spoke Thursday with the entire Maloof clan -- including Colleen Maloof, mother of the four sons who preside over the family's extensive business empire -- and president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie.

Musselman was an assistant in Minnesota, Orlando and Atlanta before being hired to coach Golden State, where he went 75-89. Though his teams were more competitive than any Warriors clubs in the previous half-decade, he was fired when he clashed with players and incoming boss Chris Mullin.

He's currently the top assistant in Memphis coach Mike Fratello's defense-heavy system.

Whisenant, a longtime family friend of the Maloofs who never played or coached in the NBA, was thought to be the family's choice for the job last weekend. But after the Monarchs' WNBA win over Seattle on Wednesday night, Whisenant said he wasn't scheduled for a second interview in Las Vegas.

I'm convinced that they'll blow up the Pistons this offseason or next.

They almost need to do it this year. They don't play defense anymore and their offense is atrocious when Rip or Billups is off. They need to send 'Sheed packing because aside from guaranteeing victory he did a total of jack and shit in the postseason.

I dont think they need to "blow it up" but they absolutely need a low post scorer. You can't win a title playing outside-out, all perimeter. Sheed pushed them over the hump in 04 because he gave them a good low post scoring threat.

That is gone. I remember halfway through the season they said something like how he's made or attempted (probably both) more than he had all of last season.

I definatly agree that 'Sheed needs to hit the road. He can be a tall 2 guard somewhere else, we need our PF to play like a PF.

You don't want 'Sheed, and if the league keeps going a more offensive route you don't want to max out Ben either. They might be better off without either Wallace next season.

Outside the Lines tonight about an hour and a half from now will be about the NBA's age limit, if anyone's interested. I just watched the little preview at ESPN.com, seems like an interesting piece.

Since the Pistons have been eliminated, figured this fits in the offseason thread. If the Pistons decide to fire Saunders who would the most likely choices to replace him?

the detroit news ran an article the other day about how one of the motives for the flipper being coach was that dumars sensed from the rule changes and whatnot the league's new offensive direction and for that reason flip will probably stay. they shouldn't dump him unless they find a good replacement first.

If flip stays, then somehow he needs to to get the picture that the team needs to be a more balanced inside out team rather than just a jump shooting one.

I don't think Flip can do anything about that if 'Sheed is convinced he's Tim Thomas without the 3's dropping. At 6'10 he's the only legit post threat they have if they re-sign Ben. They would benefit from a guy like Kurt Thomas who gets 12-14 & 10 with minimal plays run for him, but he doesn't think he's a 3 point shooter so the offense flows better. Either that, or Tayshaun needs to gain about 25 pounds in the offseason.

They're a really odd team in that they're set from 1 to 3, but their 4 and 5 can either get them all the way to a title, or extended to 7 by LeBron and 4 other guys. This team as presently constructed will not win another title because everyone should know how to play them now.
