naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Paul Lo Duca just had a little league steal where he took off while Nolasco was in his wind-up. By the time Nolasco realized he was running Paul was about 20 feet from 2nd. A couple of pitches later Beltran hit one (his 14th in 146 AB) to the moon, 7-3 Mets over the AAA affiliate of the former World Champion Florida Marlins. Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I feel bad for fans of baseball in Kansas City. The team is just plain horrible. About the only thing the Royals have going for them is the coolness of Kaufman Stadium.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Atlanta leads the Cubs 6-4 in the top of the 2nd. Smoltz gave up 4 in the 1st, but the Cubs rookie pitcher has given up four homeruns, 3 in this inning alone. This could be quite the slugfest. edit: And Ryu is out of the game after an inning and a third. Now bring out Ken!
devo 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Hernandez has been taken out of the game, thankfully after having an okay start (5 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 1 HR). Besides the home run, Orlando put on an encouragingly good performance.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 El Duque will be fine, he just needs to get that pitch count down in his next start(s). On a completely unrelated note, I just spotted that Soriano's got 18 HR and 12 SB and given that Washington's already out of it I think we might just see the 4th 40/40 season in MLB history. Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Smoltz is struggling but a great throw from Francouer keeps the game at 6-4. When are people going to learn you don't run on Francouer.

He should have already had it, but he freaking choked and didn't hit a HRer the last two weeks of the season in one of his years on the Yanks.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 The dream of a Neifi/Womack doubleplay combo took all of three cames to be realized. Yeah but hey look Pierre just bunted himself to first. It's all coming together!

Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 And Rusch has struck out 7 through 3 innings of relief. I'd 2nd the DUSTY BAKER IS A GOD comment, but the Atlanta Braves striking out a lot is nothing new. And of course the fact that dusty sucks. That too.
strummer 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I see that Joe Morgan is announcing his annual A's game tonight. Should be fun as always. Welcome back angry and bitter Joe!! Get ready to hear how a computer can't tell you how to play the game and how the A's can't "manufacture" those pesky runs.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Firejoemorgan.com will have a field day with that game I'm sure.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 It's funny on those days the team can be bothered to score more than three runs, the pitching is booty. And barring a ninth-inning Astros comeback and Cubs win, a mere game and a half will separate the Pirates and Cubbies.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Is there any player in MLB who provokes a "oh shit, not him" from the fans reaction when you need to tie the game and you got RISP, then Adam Dunn?

Kismet 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Tigers getting slapped around 9-0 vs Cleveland. Not complaining as it's bound to happen sooner or later. Upcoming this week are the Yankees and Red Sox, so hopefully they get it out of there system and can go .500 this week.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 So I see the Cubs have only given up 7 HRs so far. Can the Braves reach double figures?
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 7 Braves homers today ties the franchise record. Come on Cubs you can help set the record!

Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 The Cub fans in the bleachers are gonna need Tommy John surgery before this one's over. One of those fans will be starting before the break. That's it! They're giving up the runs intentionally waiting to find the kid who can throw the ball back at 100MPH! Dusty really is a genius!

Get ready to hear how a computer can't tell you how to play the game and how the A's can't "manufacture" those pesky runs. Well the A's are playing like shit so won't be that hard to pick apart their problems but Joe will be looking in all the wrong places.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 And we have our weekly mid-game double switch that takes out Murton in favor of Bynum. Because with Womack, Perez, and Pierre in the lineup, we had so much power in there already.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Oh my god, Juan Pierre doubles with a RISP. Miracle. Why's Smoltz still in there?
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Todd Walker has found a way to fail to hit with runners on, but not leave anyone on base. I'd think the Cubs have a shot here, but with the Braves on pace to hit 15 homers, who knows?
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 The Cubs indeed are still in this game. Our bullpen has been decent this year but by no means a sure thing. And with the wind blowing out like it is the Cubs are bound to hit some homeruns of their own.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Make it eight. It's funny that for all of the people they send down, Novoa isn't ever one of them.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 There's the 8th homerun. First time the Cubs have allowed 8 so says Chip Carrey. Brian Pena's first career homer.
