Reissue of D-X DVD (with extra matches)

Recommended Posts

http://shopzone.wwe.com/Product_detail.asp...ductId=35-00530

WWE.com has announced the release of a DX DVD, which I believe is a reissue of the old DX video release and reportedly 8 extra matches. Here's what WWE.com has to say (my comments in bold):

Crotch-chopping, brash, obnoxious, naked, rule-breaking, icon, showstopper, muscular, beautiful, blood-covered, pyro blasts, main events, obscenity-laced, declaring war, pissing everyone off, DX-rated home movies, sweet chin music.

Learn all about D-Generation X.Kids, put your parents to bed! They can't handle watching this!

PARENTAL DISCRETION IS ADVISED, BUT COMPLETELY F'N IGNORED!!! Two Words... S*ck It!

Extras include eight complete D-X matches including:

Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind

Raw 8/11/97 Hunter helps HBK for the first time

Triple H vs. Bret "Hit Man" Hart

Raw 10/6/97 is this were HBK puts the Canadian flag on his nose?

Triple H & Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind & Undertaker

Raw 8/18/97 is this were Taker blades on camera after an HBK chair shot?

Seems like a winner to me. What other matches could they add?

It's also confirmed that Bret Hart's speech featured on the HOF section of the WM22 DVD is complete and unedited. It also seems WWE released a dvd of the RAW Homecoming special, but it's unclear if it's sold on its own or as a special double set package with another DVD.

There are some pretty cool deals for the WM22 DVD this week:

Circuit City - It's only $14.xx, and it comes with a free See No Evil necklace/pendent (silver chain with Kane's hook thing from the movie). It's actually decent quality, and a lot better than I thought it would be. This is where I bought my copy today.

Wal*Mart - It's $19.xx, but it comes packed with the entire Rey Mysterio 619 DVD for free. If you don't have the 619 DVD, then that is the way to go. I didn't do this deal since I already have the 619 DVD.

Both of those are well worth it. I'd pay that much just for the HoF show alone.

Does the 619 DVD come with his match against Eddy at Halloween Havoc?

Yes, it does. I'll have to hope they still have this next week, since I don't get paid untill next wednesday. Ugh.

If you live near a Best Buy, check if they still have the See No Evil preview discs laying around. The preview disc isn't anything special, but it comes with a $5 off coupon for the WM 22 DVD. It's a manufacturer's coupon, so it can be used at any store. I used it at CC and got WM 22 for only $10.

The 10/6/97 HHH/Bret match on the D-X DVD IS the one where Shawn puts the flag up his nose. I was there live. It's also the same RAW where they showed the curtain call on the titantron and also was the RAW after Brian Pillman's death.

In other news, it's great to have the full HOF ceremony on the WM 22 DVD. Bret's speech (in it's entiriety) is awesome.

Does anyone know if at Wal-Mart if the WM DVD is shrinkwrapped by itself with the Rey DVD? If so, I'll go buy that 2-pack and return the WM DVD to Circuit City, where I bought WM this morning.

What is/was the release date of the WWE Homecoming DVD? The Wal-Mart close to here already has it on sale along with the ECW 2-Pack, Undertaker: He Buries them Alive (rerelease), and Shawn Michaels: Boyhood Dream(rerelease too) DVDs.

I don't know if it's true for all Wal-Marts, but ours here near Johnson City, TN have price matched the WM22 DVD to match Circuit City's price of 14.99. When I went to check on it yesterday, it had a special price tag sticking out from the display stating that the price was being matched to 14.99, and a clip from the Circuit City ad on Sunday. Pretty cool deal then, 14.99 and you get the free Rey 619 DVD as well.

Guest Original Zacster

From what I remember the original VHS was COMPLETELY uncensored(much like the 2 Austin tapes releasesd around the same time) I hope this re-release is the same or else this ain't worth it.

The late 97 additions are really cool as we don't have to worry much about blurring.

Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind

Raw 8/11/97

IIRC this is where Rick Rude came back. I marked out like a little bitch for that.

I bought the WM 22 DVD. I can't believe how boring the pre-show battle royal was. Between a dead crowd and the potential winners of MNM, Snitsky, Tomko, Animal, & Vis, this was horrible. One funny moment that I'm surprised they even bothered to remember is Eugene and Regal reuniting. Goldust hits Regal with a Shattered Dreams, and then Eugene helps him out of the ropes and hugs him. But then Snitsky breaks it up and tosses Regal...

Are there any major edits on the WM DVD, besides the women's match ? Did they turn the crowd pro-Cena in the main-event or the "fuck you Cena" chants are still intact ?

I don't get why Homecoming would be release on DVD. It was mostly angles and they don't warrent a DVD release. They could release both Eddie memorial shows, it's not like it would be the most tasteless thing they did with his death in order to make money.

I have to say, it was pretty revolutionary seeing unblurred tits and the word "fuck" in a WWF home video in 1998.

I've always thought they should release the Raw and Smackdown tribute shows on DVD, with ALL proceeds going to Vickie Guerrero and the kids.

The botched spot at the end of the womens match at Wrestlemania is completely edited off the DVD.

You had to see that coming. Hell they did it last you for trishs phantom kick out of a christy pin attempt.

but how did they edit it? diff angle or somethin?

I went to Wal-Mart to pick up WM 22 and Backlash 2006 was already there for sale. I was like "Holy shit, that was fast!" I haven't watched Mania yet, but I'm 99% sure Rey's 619 botch is edited out too.

I bought mine at WalMart for 14.99 with the 619 DVD, so it's cool. I nearly bought the Wreckless Intent cd too (for 9.99) but I already had it downloaded, so there was no point.

And a few notes... Rey's 619 botch is intact on the show, since they play it off as that's what he was trying to do... the Cena hate is in full force in the ME as well, unedited as far as I can tell.

Does the 619 DVD come with his match against Eddy at Halloween Havoc?

Yeah, but WWE was too cheap at the time to afford "March of Death" so entrances to almost all the matches are cut. So it starts when the match starts and ends after the 3 count so you're better off getting Eddie's DVD if you just want the match because you have everything in its entireity.

So, is the DX DVD gonna be released in stores, or is it just a Shopzone thing or something? I've looked on all the major retailers' websites for it, and there's nothing listed. It's a decent deal to order straight from WWE, but I'd like to pick it up locally and forego shipping if possible . . . same with RAW Homecoming, I haven't seen it listed anywhere yet . . .

perhaps the last extra match would be the outlaws vs cactus/funk steel cage for tag title from raw (night after wm 14, xpac intereferes and hits cactus with a chair giving the outlaws the titles, the outlaws thus officially join DX here)

personally I'd put the dx vs nod streetfight form raw ausust 98 on here (it sset up the hhh-rock ladder match and it was a pretty good brawl

IIRC)
