sfaJack 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Garner lifted Oswalt after six and 91 pitches. I'm not sure why, though. Apparently it's a tweaked hamstring.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 A.J. Burnett was transferred to the 60 day DL today. Now if you'll excuse me... I have to go and find a pillow to weep into. Not surprising. He wasn't supposed to be back until the middle of June anyway.
DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 The Mets placed X on the DL, and brought up Lastings Milledge. Woot.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Very interesting. It might be a bit much to hope he's starting tonight, but I hope that's the case. I'm tired of Endy Chavez being stuck out there whenever an outfielder needs a day off.

Mik 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 I just put what I heard. But you're right. 4 months makes more sense - 5 if the 'Stros make the playoffs. Considering this hasn't hit ESPN yet and is still in the media speculation stage... they probably just got it slightly wrong.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Not saying that this isn't true, but rumor has it WFAN picked up a Newsday article that may or may not have any validity to it. Might be a little premature to declare the deal done.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 30, 2006 They just mentioned it on PTI. But also said the the Astros are denying that a deal is in place yet.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Would anybody here say that Al Kaline was a very basic player?
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 About the Clemens stuff-Color me not surprised. Actually, a lot of 'Stros fans think that a deal was really done earlier last week, like last Monday...seeing that he started working out at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday. I wouldn't doubt that a deal's done and they're just holding back on it so they can do a press conference or whatever sometime later in the week. The only thing that I find odd is that it's for 3 months...I would've figured 4 months. Hopefully 4 months and he starts this weekend. The Juicebox would be rockin! I always thought Al Kaline was regarded as a pretty better than average player...and a decent manager. Edit: I just saw on the Astros webpage, they have an article saying in very...weird language (which leads me to believe that it's bullploop and he really did sign) that Roger has not signed with the Astros yet. However, they also have a quote from Rangers GM Tom Hicks that he got a call Friday from Roger's agents saying that Roger would not be pitching for the Rangers this season and that the Rangers weren't the only ones that were going to get that phone call and that "family played a large role in his decision." Expect a news conference on ESPN. Hopefully the Giants have a late game tonite, so they don't cut away from the Clemens conference to cover Bonds at-bats. naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 It's being reported by WFAN that Roger Clemens has signed w/ the Astros. 10.5 million for 3 months. 3 months? is he not starting until July? I'm paraphrasing but the report was that the Astros hope to sign him by June 10th or 15th and that they'll put him on the MLB roster on July 1st. Also, Lastings Milledge will be starting in RF tonight and batting 8th. I'm not too excited about the fact he probably won't get any pitches to hit, but I'm glad I'll get to see him play tonight since I won't be able to catch the game tomorrow. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 I have read it twice. I have no idea. Goodnite and good luck. Edit: After just hearing Richard Justice on ESPN talk about the Clemens thing, he said that the only reason Clemens hasn't already signed with Houston is because his son, who plays for our single A affiliate, was on the DL for a couple weeks. He just came off of it, so now Roger's signed so he can make a couple rehab starts with his son before pitching again for the Astros. It was said that Clemens will probably need about a week and a half to get himself ready to pitch, which, by my crude estimation, would put his first start on June 8th 2006...on ESPN at home against...The Cubs. naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 I have read it twice. I have no idea. Goodnite and good luck. The grammar cop was getting on you for saying a "pretty better than average player". Better than average is sufficient to describe his skill level, adding the pretty before it is just redundant. Before I forget, Clemens can eat a dick. naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Another Mets game is already marred by a terrible call at second base. That's at least 4 in the last week or so with Beltran, Utley twice and now Counsell tonight all going the wrong way. That gaffe has now cost the Mets 2 runs. Go fat guy who can't see a runner out by 5 feet at second!
