You know what ECW will need soon...a BIG heel.

I nominate JBL...with Eric Bischoff as his manager.

Imagine the heat at the actual ECW shows THAT would get!

True...

They'd CONSTANTLY get attacked by fans.

Well I think what he meant was that this SD before the PPV can't help but be a lame anticlimactic show. It might have a decent match or two but it's essentially irrelevant.

I enjoyed the hell out of this show tonight, and in fact it gave me renewed hope for the PPV on Sunday. I had a blast for 2 solid hours tonight. Not necessarily that I agree with all of the booking here, but at least it was crazy fun. I've wanted to see an RVD/Rey match for years and aside from the one RVD slip into the crowd (quickly covered by him missing it when Rey moved) that match delivered. I think I can safely say THAT was the real RVD.

I also enjoyed Cena and Sabu, since Sabu beat his ass for a good 90% of it, so it didn't necessarily hurt him that Cena would have had him beat with the STFU.

As far as the Big Show turn (turn?) to ECW, I really liked the execution of it. Hell, it kept Orton from winning the battle royale if nothing else. I couldn't help but think in the back of my head "The Giant joins the NWO!" There's still a Pavlovian response to the old T shirt angle as long as they don't do it every show.

I also enjoyed seeing Taz and Lawler argue all night and get into a fight, haha. The oddball 4 man announce booth actually worked well tonight, as Styles did shoots all over everyone and JR and Lawler responded in kind.

If there is a negative to the show it's that I fear the real ECW guys (aside from the obvious perennials like RVD, Sabu, Dreamer) are becoming the same bit players that most of the ECW and WCW guys were in the Invasion. It was cool to see Team ECW come out as a team for the battle royale, but the problem is that it didn't give us much of a shot to know who these guys were. If anything they were the ones who needed the separate introductions.

Anyway, I am quite looking forward to the PPV on Sunday. Aside from Orton anyway. But that might even be amusing if Angle comes through with his promise to break Randy's legs, arms, neck...

A DQ IN AN ECW RULES MATCH.

A DQ IN AN ECW RULES MATCH.

A DQ IN AN ECW RULES MATCH.

In all fairness, there was the occasional shmoz finish in the ol ECW . . . although the only one I can think of is when the Impact Players ran in on a RVD/Lynn TNN match.

That DQ at the end was irrelevant though. I mean the ref calling for the bell was a technicality. Let's face it, they had 20 guys in the ring, so it's not like that match was going to continue.

wow, this certainly is going to be intersting to see...I've always been a WWF/WWE fan so I hope that and ECW wrestler doesn't go over in every single match. Also, at least one of the titles needs to stay in the WWE. I don't think Vince wants the WWE to look weak in anyway, so I'm pretty sure Cena will be going over RVD this Sunday....and another thing....why hasn't Triple H kicked some ECW ass yet?!

Flair would fit in on Smackdown since it already looks like WCW.

Cause they're setting up the DX reunion.

I think a lot of the fans would like to like ECW...but they have a certain loyalty to the WWE so it's really hard to root against them. When Randy Orton eliminated Kurt Angle, it got a pretty big pop...so maybe it's not that myself and other fans can't recognize talent, it's just that we've grown up on WWE and it's hard to root for ECW (even though I've never liked them anyway)

Or it could be just because the whole ECW angle has been done terribly....

Lawler, is that you?

Oh, interesting note: the guy in your signature was in ECW for a bit before they closed.

H fears Hat Guy. Deadly Hataphobia.

Lawler didn't even know Finlay had a leprachaun.

Like most of us, he's just ignoring it and hoping it goes away.

I know it might not seem like a big deal, but Im so glad Finlay lasted until just about the end of the battle royal. He kicked a lot of ass in the battle royal and maybe the WWE is serious about pushing him into the uppercard

Wow... the two matches people were think would be carwreck centeral... actually ended up being decent.

What this thing is really missing are those two great heel figures from last year. This event really needed Bischoff and JBL.

I'd send Flair to ECW in the new Funk role.

And to be ironic Flair should cut drunk profanity filled promos on how Shane Douglas is hiding from him.

Poor Heyman. He spent 5 years building Taz as the Mike Tyson of wrestling. The baddest man alive, the human wrecking machine and now he's a fat slob who got owned by Lawler and is bawling on national tv.

First of all, Taz hasn't been an active wrestler in years, and that gimmick flew out the window the moment he joined WWE in the first place.

Second, getting hit with a legitimate punch to the face is enough to jar the toughest badasses around. It doesn't matter who's delivering it, if it's got the force and it lands right, there's no shame in being knocked a little silly from it.

Y'all are just looking for one more thing to jump on when it comes to how much this ECW revival "sucks"...

I did not notice Tazz "crying" at all. I know he was wiping his eyes when back from break, but I saw no tears. He clears his eyes a lot on Smackdown! Seemed like he was trying to focus. IDK though.

I didn't notice it either. Getting stiffed in the face is enough to make your eyes water, anyway. Doesn't mean he was crying.
