EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Looking at the numbers, the Phils' have the NL's worst ERA among starters, led they have the best ERA among relievers.
Guest Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Chad Billingsley is making his debut tonight.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Phil Nevin has 5 hits in two games against the Astros. So what does Dusty do? Ride the mini hot streak and get him in the lineup again today? No, that would be silly. Walker plays first so Tony f'n Womack can get a (well-earned) start at second base.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Red Sox trade David Riske to White Sox for minor league reliever Javier Lopez. Lopez' Charlotte numbers look pretty good (2-1, 0.55 ERA, 13 saves, 6 BB/26 K, 28 hits in 33 IP), but if he's just going to be the Mike Myers of the bullpen while Julian Tavarez continues to Reitsma it up out there, it doesn't really fix things. And it looks like Mussina's coming back to Earth.
mike546 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Todd Hollonsworth!?!?! just hit a 3 run HRer into the black seats in Yankee Stadium. I'm not suprised, Mussina had a rough patch coming after the amazing start he had this year.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 I'm really getting sick of Clement getting "injured" so he can get pulled out of the ballgame. This is like 3 starts out of 4 this has happened. If there's something really wrong, just DL the guy. too much pitching on the DL as is. This season is too similiar to 2004 in terms of pitching Schilling is a monster The co-ace is getting rocked in the first couple innings, but if he can get out of it then he gives a pretty strong performance Lights out closer and Mike Timlin in the bullpen, nothing much else only difference is the amount of injuries to the starting staff. Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 The David Riske move clears about $1.5 mill from the books~
Bored 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Frank Thomas has finally landed on the DL, about two months later than expected but this was actually kind of planned. He is having a problem with a sore quad muscle for about a month now and he could use a few days off in a row but they play nine straight games in N.L. parks starting next week so they are using it to give him a break. Sort of self preservation strategy in hopes keeping healthy come September.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 The Mets need to put a hit out on Pat Burrell. This guy kills us every fucking series.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 The Phillies have just been awful the last week. It's painful to watch. Is it true that they are booing Abreu at every AB now? On a related note, in your opinion, is Burrell-Rowand-Abreu a legitimate outfield crew to run out there. Burrell is a one legged man at this point and Abreu seems to have regressed this year (and was never a really good fielder to begin with). Rowand looks to be a good defensive CF, but I don't know that he is good enough to cover between two bad corners. Looking at ZR, RF, and defensive win shares on HBT, all three are middle of the pack or worse.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 I'm filling out my All-Star ballots right now. How many times can you vote online because I'm planning on putting in three different ballots: A slightly homer one, one with good players on other teams that I like and guys that are overlooked but deserve it. My first ballot: AL C - Joe Mauer (MIN) 1B - David Ortiz (BOS) (also a Write-In vote for Youkilis) 2B - Ron Belliard (CLE) SS - Michael Young (TEX) (Jeter's got enough votes) 3B - Mike Lowell (BOS) (Hey, he deserves a little love) OF - Manny Ramirez (BOS), Vlad Guerrero (LAA), Grady Sizemore (CLE) (Hey, he's on my fantasy team) NL C - Johnny Estrada (ARI) 1B - Ryan Howard (PHI) 2B - Dan Uggla (FLA) SS - Jose Reyes (NYM) 3B - David Wright (NYM) OF - Matt Holliday (COL), Jason Bay (PIT), Carlos Beltran (NYM) EDIT: Eh, I just combined all three ballots into one because I don't feel like sitting here voting for 20 minutes. mike546 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 A-Rod got to hit his meaningless late inning solo homer. 6-3 and we've hit the Indians bullpen in the 7th, not so meaningless yet.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 The YES Network announcers have no idea what the score is. They've said its 6-1 for about 15min straight now. Edit: They finally got it right~
naiwf 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 A-Rod with the K with 2 ducks on the pond in a 6-4 game. You can't make this shit up.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Red Sox trade David Riske to White Sox for minor league reliever Javier Lopez. And it looks like Mussina's coming back to Earth. Lopez is just going to be a LOOGY, which is surprising because the FO dumped Mike Myers and Chad Bradford this past offseason because they didn't want specialty guys in the bullpen. Lopez has never had much success in the majors (6+ ERA in over 100 innings) and Riske was being wasted behind hacks like Seanez and Tavarez. I think if we can point out one weakness in Theo as GM it's constructing a decent bullpen. Funny how the Sox thought they had too much pitching coming into the season, and now the staff is a wreck. I just hope we don't end up wasting prospects on garbage like Kyle Lohse or Oliver Perez in hopes of finding a 4th and 5th starter.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Only the Cubs would lead off with a triple and not score. I sense another wasted Carlos Zambrano outing.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Los Mets are on FI-YAH!~ A road sweep of the Phils gives us a 9 1/2 game lead. And in a completely meaningless factoid we're the first team in MLB history to win 8 straight on the road, scoring in the 1st inning of all 8.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 And just like that, 3-2 Astros. Cubs got jobbed on that play at second where Cedeno's foot was clearly on the base. But hey, at least we got another classic Jacque Jones throw INTO the ground on a possible play at home.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 B-Rad with the clutch job. He's more clutch than Abreu, Dunn, and A-Rod put together.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 If he's playing the Cubs. I just read that Bynum may have worked his way into a possible platoon situation with Murton. Um, yeah. Why's there any debate about Dusty's extension?
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 If the Cubs get someone on, you can bet they'll ground into a DP almost everytime. This loss is gonna put them 13 under. Are we still waiting for Lee/Wood/Miller/Prior or can this abortion of an organization admit they made a mistake for once and make some coaching changes? I doubt it. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 A quick look at the standings reveals that for the Cubs' $95 million, they have more wins than Florida and Kansas City. We need a manager who takes some initiative and doesn't always look like he's some good ol' boy sitting on his porch in Alabama.

Guest StylesMark Report post Posted June 15, 2006 A-Rod choked again. I could give a shit. He better pick it up after the all-star break. Mussina wasn't too bad today...the Indians just beat up on the few mistakes he made. Oh well...first "bad" outing of the year.
