CanadianChris Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I wouldn't be surprised to see ABC pick up baseball, or even for ESPN/ESPN2 to carry the entire playoffs. There's nothing that says that a championship HAS to be on over-the-air TV anymore.
Art Sandusky Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 CBS would be ideal, but ABC would work too, as then ESPN would produce the games.
vivalaultra Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Any channel would be good, as long as Scooter gets to come along. I don't think I can go a postseason without Scooter telling me how a curveball works.
Guest Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Brad Halsey's in. Surely this game must end. Well, he's been in, but now it's time. EDIT: Scully called the double steal, and it happened.
Bored Posted June 18, 2006 Author Report Posted June 18, 2006 Halsey's been a perfectly acceptable long reliever, emergency 5th starter. Now if the A's don't end it here then it's probably Jay Witasick or Steve Karsay time in the 16th and then the game will end.
Guest Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 No basebrawl because everyone's too tired to do anything but walk and jog. Besides Furcal. Novel thought. Why not have Furcal steal 2nd, THEN BUNT HIM OVER Not watching anymore of this shit.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 CBS would be ideal, but ABC would work too, as then ESPN would produce the games. No network is going to take the playoffs because it fucks up the new fall lineups either not being able to start new shows at all until november or having a big month and a half long gap between new eps. while everyone else is getting their new shows out and non baseball fans are watching those new shows instead..
Art Sandusky Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 There's always going to be someone willing to take the World Series, though. Come on.
Bored Posted June 18, 2006 Author Report Posted June 18, 2006 Bases loaded walk to Crosby in the 17th ends it Oakland. A's win their 9th in a row.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Fun fact: None of the guys the Yankees shipped out to Arizona for the oversized unit are with the team any more. (Vazquez, Halsey, Navarro)
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 The big problem with Fox isn't the announcing, it's the endless promotion and advertising. The ludicrious banner at last year's All Star game says it all.
Hawk 34 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 There's always going to be someone willing to take the World Series, though. Come on. Which is why I say ESPN will take playoff coverage. They might as well and they could easily place the World Series on ABC and I'm sure ABC would be fine with that because it's good rating and 7 nights won't upset the fall lineup that much.
Art Sandusky Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 The big problem with Fox isn't the announcing, it's the endless promotion and advertising. HIS FATHER IS THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY! edit: YOU'RE RISKING A PATIENT'S LIFE!
Slayer Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 The big problem with Fox isn't the announcing, it's the endless promotion and advertising. It isn't like Joe Suck and Tim McCocksucker (yes I'm using immature 5th grade nicknames and no I don't care) help the matter at all. Fuck, I'd even prefer Morgan and Berman to the Fox duo
Mik Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 David Segui has admitted to taking HGH legally due his body "not producing it" and also being the one who pointed Jason Grimsley in the right direction. This isn't exactly turning up hall of famers, is it?
Bruiser Chong Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Cubs put Glendon Rusch on the DL with a sore back. Or something. Easier than just cutting him, I guess. At least I can be ensured he won't start any of the games I'll be at this week.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 David Segui has admitted to taking HGH legally due his body "not producing it" and also being the one who pointed Jason Grimsley in the right direction. This isn't exactly turning up hall of famers, is it? Former Orioles though. And David Segui was a living Mr. Glass..he couldnt go a week without getting hurt.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 THAT'S what we waited almost three months for? Hendry should stop with the lip service; the return of Jesus Christ himself couldn't turn this team around.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Damn David Wright just hit a grand slam after Loewen hit 2 batters with 2 outs. 4-1 in the 5th and Loewen is out.
naiwf Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 So I get home just in time to see Marrero and Beltran get drilled and then a GRAND SLAM by Wright. Good timing.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Well the Os got 2 runs back and now its 4-3.
vivalaultra Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 THAT'S what we waited almost three months for? Hendry should stop with the lip service; the return of Jesus Christ himself couldn't turn this team around. So, I take it Prior's return start isn't going as planned? Well, there's always Wade Miller...if he ever comes back. How much longer till the Cubs pine for that fireballer Glendon Rusch to hurry up and get healthy again?
Hawk 34 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Cincy needs to play Houston and St. Louis again quick to reverse this slump of suck.

Well, there's always Wade Miller...if he ever comes back. How much longer till the Cubs pine for that fireballer Glendon Rusch to hurry up and get healthy again? After one, he'd give up six runs, five earned, three homers, a walk and had thrown 39 pitches. His command was sub-par and he made matters worse by little leaguing a throw to first on what was supposed to be a sac bunt. Add in the Cubs being as impatient as always, and the difference in pitches through three is around 40. Without exaggeration, I think Prior himself just had the longest at-bat for the Cubs. Things are made worse in that I started him on my fantasy team, given his past track record of being just sick in his first start off the DL. That sure says something that he's made enough of those starts to base anything off of them. He's not THIS bad, but the outing makes Hendry look like a bigger goof for telling everyone to wait for Wood and Prior, while doing nothing to actually fix the team.
vivalaultra Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Cincy needs to play Houston and St. Louis again quick to reverse this slump of suck. LOL2006~! Not till the end of July, my friend. Not till the end of July. By then the 'Stros will be in first, Pujols will be out still, and the Cubs will still be completely useless.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I'd also like to add that with the Tigers' improvement this season, Rod Allen has become unbearably annoying. He makes Hawk Harrelson seem objective.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Os keep battling back, now its 5-4 Mets ahead but the Os have a runner on 2nd and 1 out.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 When Hendry said wait until Prior gets back, maybe he just forgot to add on, "so he can give up a two-run homer to Vance Wilson."
mike546 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Wang really needs to get through the 9th easily. Proctor, Farnsworth AND Mo can't pitch today.
