Ben Roth.

Then you're a douche for hating any team you happen to dislike if that's the case.

Duh, that was the point! I hate the Cowboys (Well pretty much any texas team besides the Mavs and Texans. Pretty much every Florida-based team too) and Yankees. Does that make me a douche? Hardly. I wasn't trying to call you a douche, just trying to make a point.

And I see your point now. I still <3 Palmer, I just took your post wrong.

I had a little bitterness towards Cowher and Hines Ward for talking shit about beating a Palmer-less Cincy, but it's pretty slight. Cowher's an incredible coach, and I don't think it's really possible to hate Hines Ward.

I will reiterate, though, to people who scoff at the Bengals, that the Steelers are only an average team w/o Big Ben. Maddox sucked big giant balls this season, and they had days to prep him. And Cincy's D might be a little suspect, but they would have picked of Maddox so many times it would've been embarassing .

It's a little different to lose the vital cog of your offense at the very start of the game, and having to adjust on the fly. If either of the Johnsons had been injured, Cincy still could have won. COULD not WOULD. Once Palmer was out, though, it fucked them. Plain and simple. Not really sour grapes, I think. The Steelers D adjusted to Kitna incredibly quickly. He looked good at first, but then they shut him down once they had seen him. As I said, I'm very much looking forward to the Steelers/Bengals game next season if both QB's are healthy.

The only really untoward thing I've seen out of Palmer is the Heismann thing. As I stated earlier, I think he was very classy after the Steelers playoff game, when a LOT of players would have whined and moaned.

Hey just because Palmer torched them on the first play doesn't mean shit though. They could've adjusted.

I know that college is a different game.

But think of the 2004 Big 12 title game.

OU's defense shuts down KSU on the first drive then Jason White and Kejuan Jones torch them for a TD on their first drive making it look like a blowout.

OU doesn't threaten for the rest of the game as KSU kills them.

It could've happened if Palmer had stayed in. He could've thrown 3 picks and never thrown for over 10 again.

Is now a good time to point out that Barron wishes kidney failure on Alonzo Mourning for screwing over the Nets?

No, since I haven't said anything in this thread.

But he also screwed over the Raptors. That's two teams.

Latest report out of Pittsburgh is that Ben didn't have a license to drive a motorcycle and only had a learner's permit that expired in March. So in addition to all of the injuries he'll be facing some fines for that, plus in PA you're only not required to wear a helmet if you have had a license for 2 full years or have taken an additional safety course, which of course doesn't qualify Ben, since he legally shouldn't be riding at all.

Isn't it in most QBs contracts to not ride motorcycles (helmet or no helmet) at any time due to the increased likelihood of accidents? Because if it is in his contract and he did it anyway, that could be a breach of contract thing and could cause even more problems.

I could have sworn I've heard that before this happened and even moreso now that it did happen.

It's only fair for me to point out that it seems like Dama's hate for Palmer started when Palmer said that it made him ill to think about an OU guy winning the Heisman.

It was a douchebag thing to say. I didn't see Roy Williams going "Damn I hate those USC guys! If they win anything I'll puke!"

It made me realize what a jerk Palmer was. Since then I've never liked an interview I've seen with him because he always comes across as arrogant.

But that's beside the point anyway.

He probably thought because he was a football player and so popular that he was above the law and didn't need the helmet or the permit or whatever.

This was on PTI last night, and Tony and Mike both said motorcycles aren't prohibited in a standard NFL contract. They're prohibited in other sports, though (most notably the NBA, which came up in the Jay Williams case).

A: I very specifically said that I didn't think the Bengals necessarilly would have won the game, but with Carson out, they were screwed.

B: The Steelers were the only team to shut out Palmer during the season. Then they had their second game, and Palmer fucking destroyed them. I know you don't like Palmer, but most TDs in the league and a 100+ passer rating MIGHT, just might make him a good fucking quarterback.

So, as I said, I don't necessarily think the Bengals would have won the game with Palmer, but they would've had a chance. And yeah, fucking torching the Steelers on his only pass of the game means something to me.

Whatever, if he's healthy next year we'll see the Bengals win their division again. Palmer's a fucking stud. He's going to be cornholing the Steelers all night long.

I'm not saying that would've happened either. I'm just saying you can't base what his performance for the rest of the game would've been based off of ONE play.

And I won't deny he's a good QB. The dude's awesome. Doesn't mean I have to like him or anything he does.

Then we're agreed. Whaddayouknow? A reasonable discussion in the Sports forum.

P.S. I still don't think Palmer's an asshole.

P.P.S. Get well Ben.

Why the fuck was USC even being discussed?

This is about a guy, that made a stupid decision to ride his motorcycle without a helmet. He made his decision, he will live with the consequences.

Nothing to do with USC, nothing to do with Carson Palmer.

genius started talking about how happy he was that this happened to Roth because Cowher is a douche for making fun of the Bengals and the Steelers intentionally injured Palmer and then I pointed out that Palmer mocked his college rival who they owned so if Cowher is a jerk then so is Palmer and blah blah blah it escalated. Read the posts. It's clear.

I think this thread may have set the record for use of the word 'douche'.

I'm sorry. My friends use it liberally to describe frat boys. I know I need a new word.....but what?

You are absolved. I used it a least half a dozen times.

If you want to, Dama, check out Palmer's blog. It's not very exciting, but he comes across as very humble. I really don't think he's the asshole you think he is.

P.S. Does your name come from The Mighty Damaramu?

He said something like

"How regretful it is that if The Mighty Damaramu had taken another step forward he would've advanced three full ranks in the army and...." he says some other stuff. He had a lot of quotable lines. Like

"The mighty damaramu just realized he has not eaten in over 2 weeks. How regretful it is that in all his perfection the mighty damaramu is still chained by the demands of hunger. You there! Little girl! Give me that furry creature so it may appease my mighty stomach of steel!"

Ok, back on topic once again.

It's good that he's not crippled for life, but he's still a moron for riding without a helmet.

Of course people should wear helmets on motorcycles, but I don't think it's the government's job to tell you that and enforce that. You gotta scale government back now and then on these little things.

Sometimes you have to protect certain people from themselves. A lot of motorcycle fatalities come from younger, inexperienced people who think helmets aren't "cool" and think they're just as safe on a cycle than a car, which isn't even close to the truth.

Hardly anyone in PA wears helmets anymore.

Of course, since Ben, NOW I saw a newspaper today saying they are "re-thinking" it.

Oh, and nobody in Pittsburgh wants to see Omar even have a chance to "shine".

As much as I don't wish injurys upon anyone, I'm happy that this might mean Omar Jacobs might get his chance to shine.

So you're happy that a QB with one of the most successful rookie-sophomore season combos ever is hurt so you can see a guy that has some potential? A steelers fan would be crazy to want that, I assume you're just a fan of the guy or something, but seriously, other than Tom Brady this might be the most important QB to his team in the league.

I don't know if you can totally say that, take the starting QB off of pretty much any team in the NFL and look at what happens. McNabb and Vick being two that came quickly to mind.

Chicago got by without Grossman, man.
