Guest Legend & Icon Report post Posted June 15, 2006 I for one have been waiting for this match a long time. This will be battle of the legend but at the end I see Flair winning in his home town. I really believe this will be one of those classics that gets talked about over and over. It is going to be special for sure. I can not wait for history to be made. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 The saddest match in the history of pro wrestling is upon us. Flair's fans are going to have a fucking aneurism when they realize that Foley is the workhorse of that match.

Guest Legend & Icon Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Foley is a great wrestler so is Flair even at the age he is. I thought the cut a great promo on Raw and they can hype the match up very quick with another promo like that. I wish it had more time could have been built up even more so much that it could even been main event. So Foley claims he never taps out well will he win Flairs hits him with the fig a four? It will be really good.

No "personal opinion" shit. Proven fact. No good at all.
slabinskia 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 I confess. I will enjoy this match regardless of how good or bad it will be. Chances are it will only be around ** which will only be because both guys will be into it.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 The worst part about this match is 90% of fans have already made up their mind that this will be awesome. Flair fans are amongst the most blind in pro wrestling and even Foley lovers are probably in the top ten.

That doesn't mean I think the match will be awesome. I think it will be a watchable match. A fun match. Not a great match by any means.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 The only thing worthwhile is to see exactly what will Foley do with Flair as the heel. I like Foley as a heel and I think he works best in that role and playing against the ultimate face in his home crowd? Foley will be interesting to watch. Flair will bleed and bump as that's all he is good for aside from the occasional good promo. The crowd will be hot which is a given. This match meant something five years ago, when the whole thing began. Now Flair is even more broken down and Foley's smarky persona is more exposed then ever. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 Hawk knows the score. The match will get over well based on....... - Flair and Foley bleeding until they pass out - A few token armdrags and Flair working the leg for 'psychology' - A "Holy Shit" spot with Foley that will be propelled by WWE into mythic proportions aka "The Fifty Foot Ladder Spot" - Hot crowd - JR and The King talking about how old school it is and letting it drip down their chins
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 It'd be so awesome if Flair got jobbed to his arch-nemesis in his hometown.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 This match would have been a lot better 10-15 years ago, but hey even five years it might have had more meaning then it does now. Flair is a characture of himself and Foley is going to have to bump around for him. The fans will eat it up anyway because they are convinced they view Flair as a "legend" and Foley is very over as well. Kind of like everytime Hogan comes back, he is over no matter how shitty the match is. I am not sure why people think putting Flair in a 2/3 falls match is a good idea. I agree that Flair fans are some of the most blind fans around, thinking the man can do no wrong, ever.

Kind of like everytime Hogan comes back, he is over no matter how shitty the match is. I am not sure why people think putting Flair in a 2/3 falls match is a good idea. Because the falls will probably be short, I'm guessing the first fall will be Flair trying to school Foley on WRESTLING but only to be shocked that Foley came ready to wrestle and loses the first fall. Then Flair ramps up the brawling and surprises Foley by being an aggresive "stunt-man" style worker and Flair scores a bloody pin. I think that'll be the sell, the wrestlers doing the opposite of their "expertise". It's 2/3 falls because of the natural historic connection with Flair and Steamboat. razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 Who's booking this shit? Hey now it has to be better than the legend vs rookie crap that has been booked for the past 6 years. This "dream match" if you will can be great or it can be a total stinker but who cares the promos building up to it will be some of the greatest debates in the history of WWE. The only thing missing would be Armando Alejandro Estrada doing the play-by-play or acting as the special ref. Hawk knows the score. The match will get over well based on....... - Flair and Foley bleeding until they pass out - A few token armdrags and Flair working the leg for 'psychology' - A "Holy Shit" spot with Foley that will be propelled by WWE into mythic proportions aka "The Fifty Foot Ladder Spot" - Hot crowd - JR and The King talking about how old school it is and letting it drip down their chins This is the type of match that belongs on ECW on Sci-Fi show. That Holy Shit moment would be Flair going to the top and hitting the flying cross bodyblock for the pin on a table or thumbtacks. I can see Flair and Foley do the old school NWA headlock, armbar, hammerlock, headscissors weardown spots for psychology. Maybe JR can tell some backstory from his days working in WCW but then that might be asking too much from the unmotivated JR that has been working monday nights. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted June 16, 2006 When did this match get signed?? I was on Flair in 2004 to retire because he was an accident wating to happen on TV. I was seriously worried about him getting injured or paralysed on TV or something happening to one of his opponents. I cringed every time he took a backbodydrop. He was still trying but in his condition he could not go anymore. I am still of that belief that Flair should retire. It's too dangerous to have him wrestling the way he does. (It's ironic that in some ways he is exactly like Foley) However, in saying that he has proven he can still produce in the ring. In fact, the quality of some of his bouts has shocked me. My watching of the Raw brand is very limited but the A)Edge vs Flair ladder match from what I saw was really good B)the prefomance in the last MITB match was really good C) and that last match he had with HHH from memory shocked me to no end and was actually a MOTYC!! I have been told their previous match was very good too. I've noticed a renewed vigor in Flair from what I've seen. Still, I think he should be retired. Foley's always been a little underrated as a wrestler. The guy can bring it and I have no doubt he's going to do so in this next match. He will be physced up with Flair in there and since he's not working all the time he's not going to be worried about holding back here. In fact, taking in all circumstances he's likely going to be more as DDP would say jacked up for this bout than he has been in a long time. Now, I haven't seen Foley wrestle since the Orton Mania match so I don't know what he's like now but I assume he can still pull off a match especially since I hear most people liked the Mania bout with Edge. See the naysayers and the doubters in this thread? Foley and Flair will want to prove to themselves that they can do it but they want to prove it to all of them as well. This match is going to be one of the most interesting fights in a long, long time. It is hard to say how good it will be but considering their past which they can build of and the power of smart wrestling I would not be surprised at all to see this match surprise a lot of people. It's not going to be an athletic contests on the likes of TM/DK but it can be a smart match. This is one of those matches that intrigues me beforehand on how good it'll be. It'll be a match that I'll probably be downloading in the future. Like I said though, Flair should be retired. Aren't I a hyprocrite for wanting to see a match but at the same time wanting to see one of the competitors retired? Well, I guess that justifies the download. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 It shouldnt have been 2/3 falls..a straight up Foley/Flair match would have been good but 2/3 falls is just asking too much out of both of them.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 You know, Ric Flair is a rare breed of wrestler. I think it can fairly be said that Flair can't work. Usually, "can't work" is synonymous with "doesn't know how to work" but that's not the case with the Nature Boy. He knows how to work, it's just that his body won't let him. He's so feeble that he can't bump properly and his movements in the ring don't look fluid or smooth. I can't blame Flair for still wanting to wrestle but this match ain't gonna be good. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 I think this desperately needs to be some sort of no DQ brawl match because I can't see any way these guys can keep it interesting for 3 falls.
Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 Two guys feuding because of something that happened in WCW 14 years ago? Nice. This match might have been good 10 years ago but will be a trainwreck now and was only made 2 out of 3 falls so that both men's egos could be protected. CBright7831 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 I've been tyring to figure out something to say, but it's all been said, so all I have to say is: Couldn't they have found a better picture of Flair?
Guest Overworked Report post Posted June 16, 2006 I think this desperately needs to be some sort of no DQ brawl match because I can't see any way these guys can keep it interesting for 3 falls. Well the Jist is that Foley wants to prove he can "out" wrestle him, hinting that he doesn't want to go the no/dq hardcore route. So first two falls sure will be no weapon, then suddenly for the third a weapon will appear, and that will be the end of that.

The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 To all the naysayers in here, I will forewarn you: You're not going to agree with what I have to say here. Let it be known, I'm not trolling, I'm just throwing in my own $.02. With that said... Foley vs. Flair? Best of three? BRING IT ON! Are either of these guys in their physical primes? Hell no. Do they both have deficiencies in their abilities that they try to mask every time they wrestle? Sure. But you know what? These guys GET IT. They're old-school workers who know how to get a rise out of the crowd. They understand psychology. Flair will have that crowd in the Carolinas in the palm of his hand, and Foley is going to be right there with him. No, it won't be a technical masterpiece. But take your CM Punks and Samoa Joes and every other "it" guy in 2006. For 25 or 30 minutes next Sunday, I want to turn back the clock with a couple of guys who know their way around the ring and have a personal history, to boot. Maybe I'm becoming an embattled old-timer at the age of 24, but I think this match is going to be a hell of a lot of fun to watch unfold, masterpiece or not. Sometimes, star ratings are overrated. Just let me enjoy the damn match.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 Why is it even 2 out of 3 falls? This match sould just be booked as a fight. Make it a one fall and just let them have a "fight" match. This should be a dream match, but its not. Its just being promoted as one.
Wrestlefreak 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 This clearly has the potential to be a good match and I'm glad WWE finally got round to doing it. I actually think Foley is the better worker of the two(even though both men aren't in their prime), but Flair will probably be put over in "Flair country". Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 the only way to get anything good out of this is to make it a retirement match...a TRUE retirement match...and have Flair beat Foley and then turn around and retire anyway on the following Raw.
