Holy shit, FIVE Jays? Rios won't be able to play, so I thought maybe they'd take him anyway just so they can say they did and still put someone who deserves to be there in.

Didn't think Glaus would make it, but I guess the 22 homers were too much to ignore.

I don't see how people can get so upset about Travis Hafner. Without the DH, you have David Ortiz, Jim Thome, Paul Konerko, Jason Giambi. That's a VERY crowded field.

Giambi isn't on the team. Hafner is the MVP of the league. Did they really need two back up second basemen?

I loved ESPN's list of noteable players not on the team. Roger was on the list. GEE YOU THINK?

The only guy that could keep Nomar out is Billy Wagner, because all the Mets fans vote.

I'm amazed that many made it. I didn't think Glaus would be there, either. That's more than either the Red Sox or Yankees.

How the fuck did Kenny Rogers get selected? Liriano, Schilling and Mussina all have put up better numbers this year and are by far better pitchers. MLB needs to get rid of this stupid bs that every fucking team has a player on the squad.

Actually, I thought I read that this "every team needs a player" rule isn't a rule at all, and it's just kind of a courtesy that managers do out of tradition and such.

Detroit already had pudge starting the game, so that rule shouldn't have had anything to do with the Rogers selection.

In the AL, Hafner is tied for 3rd in RBI, tied for 3rd in HR, 1st in OPS, 1st in SLG (for regular players), 1st in OPS and he's hitting a respectable .313. And thats even missing some games due to interleague play/injury. That's how people can get upset. It's completely friggin daffy.

Giambi got snubbed too then. His numbers are up there, nearly if not as good as Hafner's.

Man, no Schilling, no Moose, no Hafner, no Liriano, no Mekhi Phifer.

Posted

I just remembered, no Nomar! He could winning the batting title and not make the All Star game.

Has that ever happened? Err, I am sure it is, but whatever.

Rogers is 3.72/1.17/2.44 with a 10-3 record. Even though he probably got in due to the grossly overrated W/L stats, his other stats aren't too shabby. Liriano definitely should have gotten in before him though. Man, what a shitty year for all-star picks. Liriano and Hafner are both dynamite picks and they both get snubbed.

Players voting results, showing they are as "smart" as Steve Phillips when it comes to who's the best starting pitcher in the A.L. The players sure hate A-Rod too as Chavez's season has gone in the tank due to injuries yet he still beat him out.
