Guest NYankees Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 BRIAN CASHMAN IS GOING TO KICK CHRIS RUSSO'S ASS. hahahahaha. This is some great sports talk radio.
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Dodgers traded Guzman and another prospect for Lugo. Terrible trade, unless it's a precursor for something else. Ok, that's shit. Affeldt to the Rockies. Ned Colleti must be on the Devil Rays payroll. They've really given it to him with no lube on the trades he's done with them this year. I had no problem with dealing Seo and Navarro. The Lugo deal sucks dick, but this team can do big damage if they get their head out of their asses. This may not be all for LA, this team needs a reliever.
Guest Felonies! Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Xavier Nady was traded for not one, but two Latinos! The mission to 25 continues! Come on, you thought this would get by me?
naiwf Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Xavier Nady was traded for not one, but two Latinos! Come on, you thought this would get by me? Yeah, but one of them was traded for a white boy. So all in all it was just a +1 Latino for Los Mets.
JustJoe2k5 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 After all that talk, Soriano will stay in Washington.

Bruiser Chong Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 You trade with the Dodgers to get one of their 392 near MLB-ready prospects, not Neifi Perez lite. And on top of that, they paid for part of amount Maddux is owed. As if Maddux for Izturis straight-up wasn't a bad enough deal. I was ready for the Cubs to part with these guys, but I figured they'd get some decent returns. I don't have much hope for next year now. Something I don't see getting much talk is what becomes of Maddux's spot in the rotation. I hope this doesn't mean Glendon every five days.
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 You trade with the Dodgers to get one of their 392 near MLB-ready prospects, not Neifi Perez lite. There was no way that was happening for someone that's Maddux's age. Colletti trades prospects that he perceives to have flaws in the first place, but I didn't see anything wrong with Guzman. So him saying that at all is odd.

So him saying that at all is odd. Maddux at any age + $2 million for Caesar Izturis isn't a good deal for the one side, regardless of what universe you're in. When I heard they got Izturis, I thought, "Oh, well I'll bet they got some other pieces with him." Hell no. Picking up $2 million of the check just makes this look like a salary dump.
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I know, I don't think that Izturis is a good deal for Maddux. But in all likelihood, it's better than anything else they were offered and they felt like they had an obligation to trade him, and he got to pick where.
Guest Felonies! Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Watch Maddux win his next five starts or something. And hey, you're only paying a million for him! We're paying the other two! Thanks for taking that pesky HoFer off our hands, LA! I hate baseball.
naiwf Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 But the Cubs still have Prior and Wood, which means they're WS contenders in 2007 bay-bee! Dusty will still be the manager, Wrigley will still get 81 sellouts, the team will still suck ass, and you two guys will still be miserable. There's nothing that can change until management does.
Guest Felonies! Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 But the Cubs still have Prior and Wood, which means they're WS contenders in 2007 bay-bee! Wood's contract is up at the end of the year, actually. But yeah, Dusty will be back in 2007. He'll need a chance to win it all with Cesar Izturis.
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I'm converting to another team. I would if I were you. This is never going to end. It's sad, but it's true.
Guest Princess Leena Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Why aren't you kids bitching about Izturis. He's the perfect Cub. Can't hit. Can't run. Sucks.
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 #1 ranked farm system in all of baseball. This is the organization that was able to give the Cubs jack shit in return for a Hall of Famer. They're due for a World Championship, and have the best announcer in all of baseball. Most watched organization in the history of sports. This is the Los Angeles Dodgers, and that was my sales pitch. Just don't convert to the SAWX or Yanks.
C Dubya 04 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 So was Soriano to the M's not true after all?
Mik Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I'm pretty bummed that the rumored Soriano three way that included the Marlins didn't go down. I would have loved to have Cameron Maybin in the Marlins system. Oh well.
Precious Roy Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Ok, so it looks like Linebrink for Perez was false, El Presidente himself denied it. So that raises the question, how does Oliver Perez help this team win a world series? He's been awful for the last two years after that breakout year in 04, and all indications are that that was a flukey career year. He does have a great fastball though. So do they think Peterson can revive his career, or do they want to put him in the pen? I'd rather have Linebrink. I'm surprised to see Guzman traded by LA, but their organization has a ton of depth in infield prospects. Of course now he'll be blocked by BJ Upton in Tampa, but LA had been talking about converting him to the OF anyway. I like what LA has done in adding Betemit, Lugo and Maddux. If Nomar and Kent can get healthy they have a very good shot at taking the West. Of course, then they'll have a bit of a position jam. I wonder if Kent would move to 3rd to make room for Lugo... Does anyone think Soriano will resign with Washington? Doesn't look like the Seattle rumour has any merit.
Mik Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 My sig? I don't know. Just one of the many "Marlins acting like the silly kids they are" pics that have surfaced over the past few months. It's funny because Cabrera realizes that it's getting caught on camera.
Guest Felonies! Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Does anyone think Soriano will resign with Washington? I'm puzzled as to how it's even a possibility. I mean, he never seemed too jazzed about playing in Washington, and furthermore, being reassigned to the outfield. Now he wants to stay in left field for the Nats?
vivalaultra Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Yeesh, I'm glad this whole business is over. The Astros didn't make any moves, which is bad because we didn't add a bat, but good because we didn't get rid of Oswalt or Clemens or Ensberg, who hopefully can contribute. We have like...20 games with the Pirates and the Cubs before the end of the season, so there's still a chance that the Good Guys could pull one out. So, off the top of the head, what's the biggest trade that's ever been made after the trading deadline?
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Giles to the Padres for Bay and Perez. That's what it was, right?
naiwf Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I'm now NOT a fan of the move to get rid of Nady since we didn't get Linebrink. Bah.
vivalaultra Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, but I hear that the Cardinals have picked up Jorge Sosa. Hmmm...he might be better than Jeff Weaver, but he's no Sir Sidney.
Annabelle Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 i don't care for them, but the blue jats threw in the towel today. they have major starting pitching issues, and they kept the satus quo. what a bummer. but i guess the yanks have probably become to fierce anyway. i have no idea why the nats kept soriano besides for the sake of being stubborn. he won't resign with them. even if they got one great prospect & one major league ready player, it woulda been worth it. and i really don't think the cubs got hosed in the maddux deal. izturis isn't THAT bad, and there was really no point in keeping maddux around. just sorta sucks they're paying off his contract now.
