NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Yeah but we all already know the excuse lined up for Raw's drop..... "Vince and Shane and HHH weren't there dammit" If they really use that excuse on why the ratings dropped I will be a bit surprised. There's no way in just a short few hours of leaving for the hospital that many people would tune out of Raw just because those 3 are there. You'd think the ratings would drop because people are SICK of seeing the same shit on Raw every week for the past 3 months. Well that is the LOGICAL approach, but when was the last time Vince and Co. used Logic in their approach?

Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Anyone want to drink along to 'extreme rules! extreme rules! extreme rules!' with me next week? Instead of "extreme rules" how bout someone takes a shot everytime someone says "Extreme"? I can't take part in this due to me having work the next day, but i think that would make a fun drinking game.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Anytime the word "extreme" or "extremely" is used. Everytime Joey Styles "tells a story" instead of calling wrestling moves. Chug an Entire beer upon someone getting DQ'd for using a foreign object.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 "The first 40 minutes felt something like ECW of old" Yes, because lumbering roided up shitty workers like Knox and Test were always put over characters who ECW fans have emotional attachment with in the first 40 minutes of ECW TV. And Paul Heyman was an evil authority figure. And they had Vampires. Come on, dude. This show has and still blows. You know, I wasn't going to reply to this from UTSHU but after reading the first 7 pages, I'm going to call you Mr. Negitive now. The show was good and you really didn't even give it a chance and just shit all over it. If you really think that the new WWE's ECW is going to be like the ECW of old, your really mistaken. Accept it like we all have as well. Its one thing to wait to the show is completely over and then say it sucked and give you reasons but you didn't even do that. You just said everything sucked after every segment. I will now have the mental image of the fan from Major League 2, the one who was a die-hard Indians fan and then turned his back on his favorite team and just kept bashing the hell out of them. At least give the show a chance before you come into the forums and bash the hell out of it. (Sidenote to the mod's: I'm sorry about this post, but I just had to get it off my chest.) Cartman 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 ...and so are the days of our lives... Whether it's "ECW" or "WWECW" or Vince's joke on Paul Heyman fact is it's a decent friggin show for entertainment purposes. It's been better than Raw and SD the last 2-3 weeks easily and honestly I like the fact that we get to watch different wrestlers that we haven;t seen every monday/friday for the last few years. Yes we still have Big Show, Kurt, RVD, and whomever else they bring in for Show to crush but it's still something different from the norm. I like what they have been doing with Show lately and this is what should have been done with him on Raw or SD a long time ago. At least here on ECW there isn't anyone that would refuse to lose to Show for whatever selfish reasons like some of the "superstars" on the other two shows. I enjoy seeing Sabu's matches whether they are Extreme Rules or not. I enjoy Paul Heyman. I enjoy Sandman even without his Metallica. I enjoy the Knox/Test storyline developing with Sandman/Dreamer. I enjoy seeing CM Punk's promos and I really look forward to seeing him wrestle for the first time. Is this 1990's ECW? Hell no! Is this a solid hour of entertainment each week if your a wrestling fan? Definitely! You just cannot recreate the "atmosphere" that ECW had originally because the situations were different then. They were in the same arena almost every show, the footage on TV was taped and put together perfectly for TV as opposed to live which is much tougher to do, alot of the stars are retired or just plain refuse to work for WWE for various reasons, it just cant be the same as it used to be. Why the hell would we want to recreate the same exact stuff that old ECW did anyways? Look at DX now...can anyone honestly say that this DX stuff is anywhere near the old DX stuff? I didn't think so. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I must admit this show wasn't bad this week... a definitely improvement over the mess the first few weeks were. I'm really intrigued by the "extreme rules" stuff. It could lead to some interesting storyline for next few months. CM Punk has grown on me... he definitely has some speaking skills. I'm interested in his match. I love Test's role as anti-ECW, but people will say I'm biased. Because I am. That being said, there is still a lot of messed up things on this show... Show/Kane main event with no build? There's just no reason for that. Kelly Kelly on my screen. Same with the muscle she's with. Having too many of the ECW guys seem like jobbers... I know the point is that this isn't the same old ECW, but they should be doing more with the known ECW workers. Like, why don't any of them care for the ECW title? Even if they get squashed by Show, it makes sense, at least. But, at least there appears to be some direction and building in ECW... which there's none of on Raw, and everyone gets sick and dies on SD.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 CM Punk has grown on me... he definitely has some speaking skills. I'm interested in his match. Funny how you're warming up to Punk just as I am reliking Orton. I do wish that Punk was given the chance to cut promo longer then 30 seconds but he has done a excellent job with the condensed promos. It appears Punk has some control over the content of his promos as yesterday's promo had traces of his legendary WrestleRave '03 performence.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I think if you can't see where this extreme rules thing is going, you're completely missing the point. ECW, aside from the random title matches has been doing a good job of building characters, storylines and in classic Heyman/ecw form, they have found ways to arc these together. Heyman allowing TBS to work "extreme" rules but his former talent like Dreamer and Balls will get DQ'd in regular matches. There is a purpose to it and I actually like the direction it appears to be heading. I know slow burn storylines aren't normal for a majority of the people here who are used to WWE's rushed style of booking but that's what this is right now, a slow burn. Im convinced they're doing it just to piss everyone off. They might eventually work a storyline out of it but right now..its just to piss people off.
Guest netslob Report post Posted July 27, 2006 one complaint from the show: before "the vampire" made his debut, couldn't they have, oh i don't know...come up with a fuckin name for him? hell, even just Fertig would've sufficed.
claydude14 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Anyone got a link to this week's Punk promo? They have a page devoted to CM Punk videos, which shows they're behind him as it is it's own category on ECW.com This weeks isn't up yet but should be soon enough. I'm really glad they're debuting him in NY, where he should be over.

It appears Punk has some control over the content of his promos as yesterday's promo had traces of his legendary WrestleRave '03 performence. But, you only like Randall in the hope he makes Hogan look weak. And possibly wins their match. Neither of which is happening. I never had anything against Punk. I just mentioned he came across as an indy jobber after his 1st appearance. And, to be honest, he still does. I doubt how well this character will get over... if you're a non-internet person, he's this jobber looking guy with tattoos, going on about how he's the underdog and loves wrestling. I don't him getting much of a following with that. But, I can see there's some talent with him. And if he's half the wrestler you kids say he is... then he'll make for some watchable programming. UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 If I was someone who never knew anything about Punk, I'd be interested, because if I hear about some clean cut, straight edge guy who dedicates his life to wrestling, I'm expecting some all-american blonde haired blue eyed guy like Randy Orton, not someone that looks like CM Punk. Plus his promos have been pretty good, they've been effective in letting you know bits and pieces about who he is, but still keeping you interested to find out more. Orton was horrible in the generic pretty boy self-obsessed role, he consistantly tripped over his own words and he always felt forced. Since his return, he has shown character changes that make him more entertaining now. He is taking a more natural role as a crazed guy stalking a young dimwitted blonde just to get at her father as a psychological edge. If they keep the "creep" aspect of Orton intact after the Hogan program goes away, Orton will probably get better in his character.

claydude14 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 The Extreme Enforcers last night who beat up Little Guido under masks were Doug & Danny Basham. YES! I knew it. They looked more built than last week, and I just felt my prayers had been answered. I love Doug Basham, so it's good that hopefully he'll be on TV soon in ECW's upcoming tag division (Knox/Test/Kelly aka Stiener/Test/Stacy 2k6, the FBI, the Bashams and hopefully Doring and Roadkill). I just wish Doug would have got the chance to shine solo, but Danny is solid too so it's all right.

But to each their own.
