Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 From WON and many other places: David Von Erich accidently/purposely OD'd and died in japan. WCCW said it was a heart attack..later added bad sushi spawned the heart attack...at one point The Road Warriors kicking him in the chest was given as the reason Fritz forged David's signature on hundreds (thousands?) of photos that were sold in the months after his death. When Kevin Von Erich collapsed in the middle of a match, Fritz got mad that his partners gave him CPR. He felt it showed weakness in Kevin. When Mike Von Erich had his toxic shock syndrome, his fever went so high he suffered brain damage. He tried to cut promos but would take 30 or more takes. In early 1987 Fritz balled Mike out, told him he was a disgrace to the Von Erich name and slugged him. Mike didn't acknowledge his Dad in his suicide note months later Kerry was given steroids at 15 by Fritz to improve his olympic discus chances. Kerry destroyed his leg in a hazy motorcycle crash. Business tanked and he was rushed back by Fritz too quickly and his leg had to be reset and eventually partially amputated. Fritz invented a fake Von Erich realitive since the real ones kept getting hurt and/or dying Chris Von Erich womanized, but never could live up to his family name as he had breathing issues and brittle bones. Kevin bought Mike (Chris?) a prostitute when he was only 12 or 13. The young Von Erich nearly cried during the act Kerry's imfamous 60 min match with Flair, in which Kerry was too messed up to perform was spawned by Kerry's dog dying that day Fritz developed brain cancer in his later years and went insane. He told Kevin he didn't have the guts to join the rest of his siblings in the after life, then tried shooting kevin, who fled the house Kerry had the chance to try out for Rocky 4 as Ivan Drago, but couldn't remember his lines. Kerry had a chance to go to WCW in 1990 but no showed the TV Taping Kerry skipped a St Louis WWF show after being tipped off to a Federal drug agent looking for him. ADD:
Hasbeen1 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Kerry wrestled with a prosthetic but kept it hidden. The hooker was for Chris, I thought. Business started going bad before Kerry's wreck but that certainly didn't help things. Without looking it up, I think they broke away from the NWA, and then didn't run anymore cards sharing talent with Mid South/UWF (Watts). UWF was then getting hot around the same time, and I'm sure they ran cities like Houston. Ricky Vaughn was brought in from Northwest and billed as Lance Von Erich. Wasn't bad for his role. I remember a stadium show in Dallas where they must have had only 5,000 max, it was embarrassing to watch and I'm sure it must have been to be a part of it. I thought they were going to last when Kerry came back, brought the Freebirds back, had some good talent like Terry Taylor come in, but Kerry and Freebirds left and things collapsed. Again without looking it up, all that probably led to the eventual merger with Memphis. I think the Wild West promotion started at that time too in Texas, took several of their guys.
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 The Von Erich's intrigue me to no end. Thanks for posting this and I hope there are many many more stories.
BorneAgain Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Following the Chris Adams angle in which he was blinded by Gino Hernandez , the latter died, and WCCW commentators equated the two on the air announcing that "Ladies and gentlemen, we sad to have to report two tragedies, the death of Gino Hernandez and the blinding of Chris Adams. Two careers have ended. One man is blind and another is dead." From the Jack Victory Shoot Tape [When Chris Von Erich was about twelve, Kerry and Kevin got some of their ringrats to give Chris a blowjob. Kevin and Kerry got him hooked up then came into the locker room and told everyone about it. When they all came out, they saw Chris sitting in the car trying to push the ringrat’s head away and pull his pants up.] After Kerry's motorcycle accident the doctors did somewhere between fifteen and twenty five hours of surgery to save his foot then Kerry just walked down the hall to get a cheeseburger and undid all that work, meaning they had to amputate it. Following David Von Erich's death, employee David Manning drove to Fritz's trailer at daybreak to tell him the news. As soon as Fritz answered the door, before Manning even said a word, he asked "Which one?" An experimental avant garde look at the Von Erichs in seven parts on Youtube. Part 3 Too long to post here, but here's a link to the infamous Penthouse article about the Von Erichs From what I've seen of the reviews of Heroes of World Class, to some degree Kevin is still defending his father to this day.
Vern Gagne Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 How would you rank the Von Erich's in terms of in-ring ability?
Guest NYankees Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 How would you rank the Von Erich's in terms of in-ring ability? I remember watching WCCW back in the late 1980's on Espn and being pretty impressed by all of the Von Erichs. The one who is still alive was my favorite. Didn't the first Von Erich kid die when he was 10 due to touching an electric cord or something?

He was shocked by a loose electical cord, was knocked out, and drowned in a melted snow puddle when he was 7.
Hasbeen1 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 How would you rank the Von Erich's in terms of in-ring ability? Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike. Lance doesn't count.
Timmy8271 Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 God damn this is sad. I agree with Netslob 100%. Their are stories in the famous DVDVR sleaze thread about Kerry and Kevin von erich killing cats with the claw. As for best von erich's: David, Kevin, Kerry, Mike, Chris in that order. David was an awesome heel in florida. Before his death, there were rumors of him turning heel on his father in world class. That would have been fucking awesome.

All but one brother dead before 35. They make the Hart Family look like the Nelson's.

To be fair, I don't think Chris wrestled very much. He was too small, but still got into wrestling (either because he idolized his brothers, or Fritz pushed him, or both). I heard he once broke his arm just taking a bump in the ring, that's how weak his bones were. I think your order is correct, though. Although it's interesting that Kerry ended up being the biggest star of the group. Of course, his brother David was supposed to be the one to win the NWA World Title before he died.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I remember reading somewhere that Kerry was very vain about his looks and that's why he shot himself in the chest and not the head, as it would ruin his face. While on tour of japan, Kerry intro'd himself to Baba, Terry Funk and the rest of the room one by one, shaking hands....he sat down for a few minutes and stood up and intro'd himself to Baba, Terry Funk and the rest of the room one by one, shaking hands.... Kerry was so out of it once while tying his boots he laced up his walkman wires
Timmy8271 Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 I heard kevin was so wasted one time that one of the valets pulled a rib on him by Fucking him in the ass with a dildo.
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 Wow, man... These dudes make me feel so much fucking better about my own family.
BruiserKC Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 I liked some of the angles that took place during the WCCW days... King Kong Bundy getting his signature look from his days with World Class, having his head shaved when Fritz Von Erich beat him in his retirement match. Ultimate Warrior's botching of a piledriver on Chris Adams during a non-title match when Adams was WCCW World champ. Warrior caught Adams in the throat and when he was unable to continue sped up the ending by letting Warrior beat him with a flying elbow. Eric Embry's vomiting in the middle of the ring, actually tossing his cookies when he was attacked by Akbar, Cactus Jack, and Gary Young with a baseball bat. Plus, later when Akbar and company attacked Frank Dusek, Marc Lowrance referred to the attack as absolutely sickening. When told not to use that verbage, he told Akbar to kiss his ass and walked off the set before a Kerry/Jarrett vs. Cactus/Young match.
