JHawk 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 I'd mark out if Nigel win and chooses to drop the World Title. It would completely ruin ROH as we know it, and that would suck, but still, who would actually be expecting that?

JHawk 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2006 I'm sorry if Nigel doesn't spit water or do nip-ups to no-sell the other man's offense. Nigel's a god. Not the god, but a god.

King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2006 I like Nigel just fine, but I don't see him as ROH Champion. I still say this Title Unification deal is a way of making people believe Nigel has a shot of winning the title in his home country, only for Dragon to go over. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 Ring of Honor Liverpool Olympia, Liverpool, England Saturday, August 12 Report courtesy of WrestleMag.com: Ring of Honor held their first live event outside of the United States this evening at the Liverpool Olympia in Liverpool, England, and WrestleMag’s Mark Bright was there to bring you ongoing results throughout the night. We’ll have an in-depth report available tomorrow ahead of our live coverage of ROH’s second UK date in Broxbourne, England. Thanks to everybody who joined us for our live coverage earlier this evening. Results and notes from Liverpool as follows: - Before the show it was announced that Ring of Honor will return to the UK with dates on March 2 and 3, 2007 with a return to the Olympia confirmed. Given that tonight’s show is close to sellout and that tomorrow night is Broxbourne sold out in advance without a card being announced, that’s no surprise. The Olympia is close to capacity (1,700) with only a few isolated seats remaining empty. The setup is pretty close to what you’d expect from an ROH show in the States, although a smaller ring is being used (quite possibly one of the FWA’s). The crowd are already electric and this is before the opening match of the night. - Matt Sydal beat Colt Cabana, Jonny Storm and Spud in a “Four Corner Survival Match” to open the show, picking up the win after pinning Spud. Good, fast paced opener which the crowd loved. - Chris Hero made an unannounced appearance to cut a promo. Good heel heat which continued until Colt Cabana chased him out of the ring and backstage. - Jimmy Rave and Prince Nana also cut a promo. Toilet paper all over the Olympia. Crowd are absolutely electric still. The promo led to Jimmy Rave vs Davey Richards, which Richards won via pinfall after a brainbuster. - BJ Whitmer beat Claudio Castagnoli. After the match they continue to go at it, eventually brawling towards the back. Chris Hero again appeared, this time helping Castagnoli to beat on Whitmer. Colt Cabana made another appearance to stop Hero, which led to to Hero vs Cabana, which Cabana won after hitting his Colt 45 finisher. - Doug Williams & Jody Fleisch beat SUWA & Go Shiozaki after Williams pinned Shiozaki. Williams & Fleisch get a shot at the ROH Tag Team Champions tomorrow night in Broxbourne. Crowd popped like crazy for the finish. - Robbie Brookside pinned Chad Collyer to retain the FWA Heavyweight Title. - Austin Aries & Roderick Strong beat The Briscoe Brothers to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles after Aries pinned Jay Briscoe. Aries and Strong defend tomorrow night against Doug Williams & Jody Fleisch. - Bryan Danielson beat Nigel McGuiness to retain his ROH World Title and unify the World and Pure Championship belts. McGuiness was busted open with Danielson hitting him with a succession of elbows to the head. After the match Danielson challenged McGuiness to a rematch (no date was mentioned but I guess this means their scheduled match on August 25 in St. Paul, MN), which was accepted. Guest GoJoe Report post Posted August 13, 2006 I'm really bummed about Nigel losing, I felt sure that he'd win as well as Team NOAH, with Nigel against Doug tonight. Instead we'll probably get Danielson/Brookside.

Garth 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 I was at the Broxbourne show last night, the card was more or less completely reshuffled due to Austin Aries suffering cracked/broken ribs. The results were as follows: Aries promo to start the show, lets the crowd know he can't wrestle tonight. Danielson comes out and gets in his face, this eventually leads to the announcement that Roderick is going to face Danielson for the title later on tonight after Strong gets in Danielsons face. Upon Danielsons exit from ringside SUWA comes and canes Danielson. 1)Go pinned BJ Whitmer following a moonsault. Really hard hitting back and forth encounter. 2)Jonny Storm pinned Spud with the Wonderwhirl in a match also featuring Jody Fleish. Fun stuff, showcased a few of the better known UK fliers. Hopefully Storm can maybe get a few more ROH bookings following this. Post match the Kings of Wrestling - Claudio and Chris Hero as well as Chad Colleyer invaded the ring and gave the British a pasting. Hero got on the mike and trashed British wrestling, all the while being soundly barraged with TP. Nigel and Robbie Brookside made the save to a huge reaction, challenging Chad, Claudio and Chris Hero to a match. Eventually Cabana came to join the UK guys. 3)Nigel McGuiness, Robbie Brookside & Colt Cabana beat Chad Collyer, Claudio and Hero. Robbie took a beating most of the match. Nigel pinned Collyer following a lariet. 4)Danielson pinned Suwa with a small package. Danielson got busted open during this match after a chair to the back of the head. 5)Doug Williams over Jimmy Rave after the Chaos Theory. As per usual Jimmy was drowned in a sea of toilet paper. It was fun watching everyone preparing their TP prior to the match. It was an absolute blast being able to interact with the show like that. Rave got nailed in the head with one roll and went down. Gold. 6)The Briscoes beat Matt Sydal and Davey Richards after a Cut-Throat Driver and Leg Drop combo on Matt Sydal. Probably my match of the night. Hadn't seen Davey wrestle before, was throughly impressed. The match was crazy, can't wait to see this again when it's out on DVD. 7)Bryan Danielson retains the ROH World Title via TKO against Roderick Strong. Match went about 20 minutes Strong managed to counter the Elbow Strikes and get back to his feet, it looked like he was going to hit the double knees but Danielson sneaked in a few more elbows, Strong hit the mat, Danielson applied the Cattle Mutilation, it was all academic after that. --------------- The show was allot of fun, I feel it would have been better minus the Aries injury and the card reshuffling, there's nothing that could have been done though.
