But he started it.

I can take a lot of abuse but after awhile I am not someone that can be walked over. If someone attacks me enough (this is not the first time Barron has done this) than I will defend myself.

WP's gimmick still sucks.

Rocky will win because it'll be a great, inspiration movie.. Even if it weren't to win the first week it would still win the overall box office thing because of people rewatching the flick.

"Great inspiration movie?"

Based on what?

You're delusional if you think many people are going to rewatch the movie. Most people will probably watch it once, if they bother to watch it at all.

Austin Powers' movies suck except for some awesome moments here and there so I don't watch them.

If you didn't watch the Austin Powers movies, how do you know they suck?

You don't understand the very foundation of life.

And you do?

Oh no, a ROHbot is angry. Whatever are we gonna do?

If you're going to attack me, do it somewhere else. This thread is about DreamGirls vs Rocky Balboa, not you trying to get cheap heat by taking cheap shots.

What the hell does ROH have to do with this thread? Fucking hypocrite.

Once word gets out on how good it is that will bring even more people into the theatres.

There's also the more likely scenario. The movie turns out to be as bad as the previous sequels and people stay away.

By bringing up things that have nothing to do with the topic?

Rocky VI will be lucky to make $50 million domestic, and the only reason it'll do better than #5 is that tickets cost a shitload more in 2006 than they did in 1990. It would cost me at least $11 or 12 to go see this movie anywhere near where I live. Back in 1990, tickets were probably in the $6 or 7 range at best and there were still matinee options for half of that even in Manhattan.

You want a great inspirational movie?

Watch Scarface.

Rocky was about as inspirational as a Hogan match from his heyday.

Sure he's goin' against a big ol' mofucker that seems like he can kill Hogan, but in the end you know Hogan is gonna Hulk up and win.

Same with the Rocky flicks.

The "competition" for Rocky Balboa on December 22nd will be:

The Good Shepherd - an action thriller starring Matt Damon, Robert De Niro, and Angelina Jolie.

Night at the Museum - a comedy starring Robin Williams, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Ricky Gervais.

We Are Marshall - a sport drama starring Matthew McConaughey.

Dreamgirls doesn't come out until three days later, on December 25th.

And Charlotte's Web.

That comes out two days before Rocky Balboa, on Wednesday, December 20th. But yeah, that too.

And the first Clubber Lang fight in the 3. And he didn't box in 5. So, in five main events in four movies - Rocky Balboa, 3-2. He always wins!

Rocky doesn't stand a chance. It won't touch the Good Shepherd or Night at the Museum. Those movies are loaded with A-listers.

I saw the trailer and I couldn't believe how dumb the premise is. OOH! A computer sim has Rocky beating this young boxer, and Rocky gets talked into a real fight with him! Yeah! I think Hogan vs Orton was set up better..

Im also betting Rocky actually gets killed in the ring in this one..

That would be the proper way to deal with it.

Well, there you go. I've never watched a Lethal Weapon movie so how would I know who Danny Glover is?

Has anyone thought of the possibility that a movie coming out the week before Rocky Balboa is so popular that it is also #1 for the weeked RB and Dreamgirls comes out?

What movie? Blood Diamond starring Leonardo DiCaprio, The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith, and Eragon are released on December 15th, the week before Rocky Balboa.

Everyone knows how life works.

First, your dad fucks a weight bench, or does some real hard squats. Then Astro Boy flies through his window to deliver you into the world. Then you beat up a side of beef, and win the best picture Oscar over fucking Taxi Driver. >:-(

Anyway, if you want to fight, than bring it where it belongs -- NHB.

CRIPPLE FIGHT!

But it looks like a great inspirational movie! Everybody knows that inspirational movies are the best because they hit home! Inspirational! Inspirational! Benoit!

Obviously, you don't know how life works. Rocky wasn't just beating up a side of beef. He was doing some intense training to get ready for his fight. That scene was so inspirational.

The right movie won. Rocky was an inspirational movie! What's so inspirational about a guy driving a taxi? I've never seen Taxi Driver and I won't because it doesn't appeal to me. There is nobody I know in that movie.

I just checked imdb. Who is this De Niro guy? And I've never heard of Jodie Foster or Harvey Keitel. Cybill Shepherd doesn't ring a bell either. Is Shepherd a guy or a girl? Or is Shepherd a dog? If it's a dog, then I guarantee it isn't better than the dog in Rocky. That dog was inspirational.

Night At The Musuem will get some dough cause it's partially a Stiller/Wilson comedy. And because Robin Williams has two speeds: walk and kill.

I'm going through Apple's trailers site and digging the docu Wordplay, Hollywoodland (with Ben Affleck as George Reeves and Bob Hoskins as a movie executive) looks awesome, and the next Disney/PIXAR project Ratatouille will probably fair pretty well.

Watch Scarface.

Explain to me how in the blue hell Scarface is inspirational? All I saw was a wanna be drug lords rise and fall. Hardly inspirational stuff unless your business is being a thug/drug dealer.

That's like saying Adolf Hitlers rise to power was inspirational...

Blue Bacchus' head

I've discussed this in another thread earlier in the year, but it seems to me that some people completely misunderstand Scarface and miss the fact that it's a cautionary tale.
