Guest Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 We've got Hatton/Lazcano and Malignaggi/N'Dou on Versus here in the States, at 3:30 eastern. Should be academic, but I'll watch anyway. If Hatton wants to do the whole hold n hit Hatton thing, I'll just change the channel. It'll probably be a brawl, though. I saw Lazcano beat lose to Vivian Harris in Vegas, but that was 15 months ago. He hasn't fought since.

Lazcano via Unanimous JD (120-110, 120-108, 118-110) Hatton looked pretty average despite the scores, getting rocked a few times by Lazcano and benefitting from some erratic reffing. Granted, Lazcano's no bum, but for a rusty former lightweight who was supposed to be a bounce-back opponent after the Mayweather KO, he gave Hatton more scares than he was supposed to. Volume-punching pressure fighters rarely have long careers, and when they start going downhill, it happens quickly (Ouma being a recent example). There seemed to be hints in the fight that Hatton could be on a similar downturn.
Guest Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 I thought Hatton looked ok, but this fight showed even more than the Mayweather fight that Hatton needs to stay at 140 for the rest of his career. Even though Malignaggi sucked today, needed a haircut in the middle of his fight, broke his hand, I still want to see him fight Hatton. Malignaggi's got no power, but he's got a great chin and a lot of heart. He could beat Hatton, but I doubt it. Still would like to see it. After that, Hatton needs to clean up the division, look for someone coming up from 135 like Juan Diaz or even Amir Khan if we're talking about a few years down the line, and retire. I don't think Hatton could get through Ricardo Torres, but the outlined plan above is ideal.

I mean, I know he's retired and come back a couple times before, but he won't make any more money than he would already have made in Mayweather v. De La Hoya II (which is the only fight I could see him coming back for), he's already beaten De La Hoya the first time around, and he's undefeated. If he comes back I don't think it'll be unless he Tysons and blows all his money on drugs & shit and ends up needing the money.

Saying I was impressed with Paul Williams is an understatement, I hope to see more performances like that come from him in the future. The 1st Quintana fight was an off night. Sergio Mora also beat Vernon Forrest... I give Mora alot of credit for showing heart, but if Forrest stuck to his plan(using his great jab to set up his hard right) like he was for the 1st half of the fight he would've won. I personally scored the fight a draw, but glad Mora got the desicion due to Forrest basically doing jackshit the 2nd half of the fight.

Anyway this card was my first live event and it was awesome. Solid action for the most part even though I thought the DQ in the Soto fight was complete bullshit.

Mosley vs Judah Judah showed that his skills are still intact in the Cotto fight and in similar fashion Mosley proved the same thing in his controversial loss to Cotto. I think Judah will be able to match Mosely in the eary rds but by RD 6, Mosley's superior strength will come through and he will rock Judah. Mosley 9th TKO P.S. Mosley 8th RD tko Judah vs Clottey- this is tough. I see Judah getting his usual fast start and struggling to hold on. Judah by split decision
