slabinskia Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 I wasn't sure if I should put this here or the old school forum so move it if it doesn't belong. Below is the link to the observer's wwe star ratings. What I am looking for is the good stuff from 2002-2005. While I have watched wrestling off and on my memory isn't too good from this time. Sad that I remember most of the good matches from before this time but lost interest after the awful invasion angle. From looking at the list it seems that Dave overrates a lot of matches which is why I can't just go by that. I know all about Angle/Benoit and the Benoit/HHH/Hbk matches so just recommend the less famous stuff. http://www.geocities.com/mfoy18/wwfstarlist.html
Hasbeen1 Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Looking at the list reminds me there was a lot of good stuff with Benjamin and Haas 2 or 3 years ago. They should bring them back, both just don't seem to have enough star quality to make it as singles. A lot of it was with Angle.
Black Lushus Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Benjamin was poised to be a big star when he was upsetting HHH 2 years ago, add the huge match with HBK from last year and his performances in the MitB matches...a ball was just dropped somewhere.
CheesalaIsGood Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Benjamin was poised to be a big star when he was upsetting HHH 2 years ago, add the huge match with HBK from last year and his performances in the MitB matches...a ball was just dropped somewhere. Alot of it may have to do with Sheltons 2 matches with Kurt Angle being below expectations. Other than that I can't really point to a singular fuck up that was really his fault.
cabbageboy Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Well, with Shelton he doesn't seem to have much in the way of mic skills or charisma, and that hurts him in terms of ascending to the next level. If you could take MVP's charisma and mesh that with Shelton's ability, you'd have something.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 They dropped the ball with Shelton after only one week, when Hunter casually blew off Shelton wanting a rematch. Everything after that was standard WWE procedure when it comes to screwing up the push of someone who could have been something special. Well, with Shelton he doesn't seem to have much in the way of mic skills or charisma, Blame that on the writing staff giving him bad material. During that match with Hunter, Shelton showed a ton of charisma, but they've almost never let him show it. It's not an isolated problem, though, but one that so many people suffer from.
Mole Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Could have? The guy is only 30 but looks like a 25 year old.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Shelton could still be something special, but unless they have their hand forced, then I think WWE have him pegged as a midcarder and I don't see Shelton going any higher up on the card than that.
The Niggardly King Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 I see Shelton getting sort of the Edge treatment down the line.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 I see Shelton getting sort of the Edge treatment down the line. Who's girlfriend is going to bang?
Hasbeen1 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 I rarely have time now to watch tapes, but I did get to see an OVW show with Benjamin once, and I thought he did a fine "cocky" interview. That had to have been at least five years ago, so there's no way that couldn't have been developed. Get Haas, Benjamin, find another wrestler with a legit amateur background besides Angle or Terkay, combine them as a stable. Find a diva who can talk to be the mouthpiece if Benjamin can't cut it or if they want to be put across as equals, without a leader, or better yet get another male manager who can take a good bump every now and then. It's not rocket science. I know I've had arguments on here about the product, "if you don't like it turn it off," but it's got to the point where I'm doing just that or not even turning it on to begin with.
Black Lushus Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Joey Styles as a slimy weasely agent type would have been perfect.
Guest DRH 502 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Dude he'd be so perfect for the role.
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Especially if that angle started a couple weeks after Joey's "shoot" where he quit Raw.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Joey Styles as a slimy weasely agent type would have been perfect. I always felt a wrestling agent named Scott Bore-us or something would have tremendous potential.
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 And they can give longer, more boring promos then HHH and Randy Orton combined. He'd be the opposite of the MicroMachine Man. And he could have a tag team like London/ Kendrick that are small and fast as hell, and a big mofucker that takes out the little dudes' opponents and shit. and he can move up to the midcard. This hoss would of course be skilled at mat wrestling, brawling, aerial, kicks and power moves. He'll be the best fuckin hoss of all time. That's a four man stable that could get over 4 guys at once, unlike the SS 5 man stable that were buried from day one, when it could have gotten them all over to a degree, and Doane would be going for the IC Title right now. Yeah, all that shit could happen, I swear.
