Yeesh...I think Wandy Rodriguez had a better start against the Brewers the other day when he walked like...15 people in one inning. Jason Hirsh isn't looking like a "rookie phenom". Every rookie pitcher that starts against the Astros looks like Cy Freakin' Young, but ever rookie pitcher the Astros start looks like utter crap. I'm trying hard not to become bitter and jaded, ala some Cubs' fans, but...the odds of the Astros making the playoffs aren't very good. There...I said it.

Coco Crisp is leading off again.

*Bangs head against wall*

He's done so well in the bottom of the order but they still try to force him into the leadoff spot because that's part of the "plan" I guess. Also, Manny's hammy is hurting, so he's out (his yearly temper tantrum, it looks like) so Youkilis is batting 4th.

I'm glad I didn't go to the Mets game tonight, or I'd be hopping on the 7 train right now to come back home. I hope Phat Albert gets drilled in the ass/leg/non vital area in his next at bat. We don't need him flexing for the next 2 1/2 games.

Delgado just hit his 2nd HR of the game, a monster GRAND SLAM for # 400 in his career. Awesome. Too bad we're still losing by 2 and Pujols will likely get two more chances to hit.

It's one thing to give up 13 runs to a potent offense like Cincinnati but to squander 3 hits to Kyle Loshe?

Reds should save some of this juice for Oswalt.

I wish there were some Devil Rays fans I could pick on to make myself feel better about the Astros, but the D-Rays are actually not all that bad. Norris Hopper? Who the shit is Norris Hopper? Oh well, it's still just one loss, whether it's 2-1 or 28191012-0, like this game is shaping up to be.

Guest Felonies!

Okay, no. Don't tell me that O'Malley is injured already.

IS ANYBODY IN THIS ORGANIZATION ABLE TO PITCH WITHOUT GETTING INJURED

Detroit is on their way to taking the second game from Chicago. Funny how many people started on "the sky is falling" just because the Tigers lost a few games. At this point though, there are only two division races within five games, both in the NL.

Shawn Green has been traded to the Mets. D-Backs will pick up $6.3 million of the $12.75 million remaining on his contract through next year.

Is this Evan McLane the D-Backs got back any good.

I hope so, because I thought we'd get some good value for Green.

Cubs made it interesting, cutting the lead to one, but keeping Glendon Rusch in there only ensured it was going to be at least a three-run Phillies lead in no time.

Just release the guy, already.

Some reminiscing about a famous game leads me to find this gem via Retrosheet. The wind blows out at Wrigley, the Cubs come back from a 12 run deficit but can't quite pull it out. The sad thing is that these guys scored 45 runs over 10 innings and STILL finished faster than your average Yankees/Red Sox contest. Also note the attendance, a hair under 15,000.

And since that might be a little painful to Cubs' fans, here's a contest from 1922. The Cubs led 26-9 when the Phils' scored eight in the 8th and six in the 9th. 49 combined runs, and the game lasted just three hours.

I hope so, because I thought we'd get some good value for Green.

MacLane's struck out just 67 in 121 innings at AAA Norfolk, and with that kind of stuff, he's going to be pitching on the edge of a cliff for most of his career.

This is addition by subtraction for the Diamondbacks. Carlos Quentin is a superior player to Shawn Green, right now. He'll take over right field and perform better, and the D'backs are no longer stuck.

What a charmed life it must be to have your announcer say a homer will win it and on the next pitch, that happens.

It happens every time the Cardinals win one. Of course, Mike Shannon says it every single time.
